Chapter 61 Wedding
The afternoon sun shines through the window, casting mottled shadows on the living room floor, but is cut into pieces by the cardboard boxes piled on the ground.
Su Nian, wearing soft-soled slippers, walked around the cardboard boxes covered with tape to the sofa. Looking at the packed items that spread from the entrance to the balcony, she couldn't help but let out a soft exclamation: "Why are there so many things?" As soon as she finished speaking, she slumped her shoulders and leaned on the armrest of the sofa.
Soft footsteps were heard behind him. Ling Shen leaned over to Su Nian and whispered in his ear with a smile: "Didn't you buy all this?"
"I don't remember buying so much. Look, this, I don't even remember when I bought it." Su Nian took out a piece of clothing from the box without even removing the label, with a look of distress on his face.
Ling Shen looked at Su Nian with a frown on his face, looking distressed and a little aggrieved, and couldn't help laughing out loud.
She took the clothes from Su Nian's hand and put them back into the box. "Okay, I bought them. Why would my Ah Nian buy so many things? I just like buying them for you."
"You are so nice to me, aren't you afraid of spoiling me?" Su Nian stood up, casually put her arms around Ling Shen's neck, and tilted her head to look at the lover in front of her.
Ling Shen held Su Nian's waist tightly with both hands, his eyes full of seriousness, "My Ah Nian deserves the best in the world."
His voice was low and gentle, as if it carried magic, causing Su Nian's heart to beat faster.
Su Nian curled her lips into a smile, leaned forward and kissed Ling Shen's lips. The warm touch made Ling Shen unable to help but chase after her and want to continue, but Su Nian took a step back and pointed at the box on the ground.
"Stop it, we still need to move."
Ling Shen glanced at her, then walked over to Su Nian, picked her up horizontally, and strode towards the bedroom. "There's a moving company. Come and rest with me for a while."
"You are such a..."
With the click of the bedroom door, Su Nian's unfinished words also disappeared behind the door, leaving only the cardboard boxes filled with love in the living room, quietly waiting in the afternoon sun.
On the grass outside, a florist was standing on tiptoe to adjust the shape of the arch. Dozens of wooden flower stands were wrapped with layers of red and white roses, like overturned rouge boxes.
The delicate petals were soaked in morning dew, reflecting fine golden light under the rising sun. Even the water droplets hanging between the veins of the leaves were wrapped in iridescence.
Under the makeshift white tent, waiters in black uniforms pushed ice buckets filled with champagne in a line, and the crystal glass tower reflected a cold halo.
The long table was covered with a lace tablecloth, French macarons were stacked like a rainbow on a gold-rimmed porcelain plate, the mint leaves on the top of the strawberry tower were still condensing with water vapor, the chocolate fountain was gurgling, and the rich sweet fragrance mixed with the fragrance of roses drifted in the morning breeze.
Su Nian's fingertips gently stroked the straight collar of the white suit in the mirror, and the mother-of-pearl buttons glowed with a warm luster under her fingertips.
The sunlight slanted through the lace curtains of the fitting room, coating the tips of his ears with a furry golden edge. He suddenly felt as if his heart had been hit by a butterfly awakening in spring, and a subtle tremor surged in his chest.
The person in the mirror has eyes and brows as relaxed as a newly blooming white magnolia, and all the sorrows in the past have now turned into honey in the corners of her eyes and eyebrows.
There was a rustling sound of leather rubbing against each other behind him. Ling Shen wrapped Su Nian in the scent of cedar and ambergris. The shoulder line of his black peaked lapel suit was like the arc carefully polished by a sculptor, making him look even more upright and cold.
Su Nian looked at the overlapping figures in the mirror. The ginkgo leaves and edelweiss embroidered on their left shoulders were quietly touching. The interlaced vine patterns on the platinum rings were flowing with galactic-like light in the sunlight. Those were the wedding rings that the two of them had personally participated in designing.
"What are you thinking about?"
Ling Shen's breath swept across his red earlobe, with a seductive low voice.
When Su Nian turned around, the hem of his suit rippled darkly, and his eyelashes cast a butterfly-like shadow under his eyes.
"I was thinking, I have really good taste." The light in his eyes was brighter than the stars in the sky, causing Ling Shen's Adam's apple to roll unconsciously.
Ling Shen had just lowered his head when the carved wooden door was slammed loudly.
Chang Zi's exaggerated shouting mixed with the clinking of champagne glasses in the corridor, "My two ancestors! What are you two still dawdling about? The guests are all here, hurry up."
Ling Shen rested his forehead against Su Nian's, his eyelashes brushing across his hot cheeks, his voice hoarse with unsatisfaction.
"He's like a husky every day. I'll send him to Siberia one day."
Su Nian was amused to the point of laughing until tears came out. She stood on tiptoe and gave Ling Shen a light kiss on the corner of his mouth. Before the aftertaste of the mint candy had faded, her wrist was grabbed.
"Dear Mr. Su, let's go."
Su Nian's kiss soothed the restless Ling Shen very well. With their fingers intertwined, their smiles were brighter than the sun.
The wedding march flowed like honey from the gilded organ. Two people of similar height, fingers intertwined, slowly walked from the end of the flower path. The gentle sunlight bathed them, and a gentle breeze blew the petals into the sky.
As rose petals poured down from above her head, Su Nian vaguely saw her parents and Shen Ran through the light and shadow. They were smiling and sending blessings to their loved ones.
Su Nian smiled and held the hands of the people around her tightly. All the misfortunes and pains disappeared along with the petals in the sky.
As the champagne tower in the banquet hall reflected a dazzling halo and the waves of blessings rose one after another under the crystal chandelier, Ling Shen and Su Wan, who should have stood in the center of the stage to receive everyone's blessings, were like two nimble fish, following the shadow of the spiral staircase and quietly disappearing behind the archway decorated with white roses.
The guests who couldn't catch the protagonist went straight to the trio of groomsmen, drinking glass after glass. The sound of glasses clinking mixed with laughter soon drowned them in a sea of wine.
"Burp, Ling Shen, that bastard, why are we the ones who suffer when he gets married?" Chang Zi burped, his eyes completely unfocused.
Yu Tao untied his tie. He was no better than Chang Zi. His handsome face was already red. "He is just in love. No, he is in love with Su."
Yuan Wenzhong sat by, chugging glass after glass of water. Although he hadn't drunk much, he still had to explain Ling Shen and the others' whereabouts over and over again. His throat felt like a dry desert.
"When he got married, I almost said everything I wanted to say in the first half of my life." The hoarse voice not only did not win the sympathy of the two, but was ridiculed instead.
"Hahaha..." As soon as the words fell, the three of them were dragged away by the guests again. The jeers of "Another drink" and laughter dissipated in the air filled with the aroma of wine.
Moonlight seeped through the gauze curtains into the room, tinting the already dim room with a hazy and ambiguous glow. The brand new red wedding character on the wall shone softly in the dim light, and every corner was filled with the joy of a newlywed couple.
Su Nian was wearing a black silk nightgown. The fabric shone with a fine luster under the light. The collar of the nightgown was slightly open, and the fair skin under the collarbone could be vaguely seen.
Although he hadn't touched a drop of alcohol, Ling Shen felt as if his brain was dizzy from the aroma of mellow wine, and his rationality was about to be overwhelmed by the surging love and desire.
