Chapter 146 Taking Charge Alone

He held me as we sat on the sofa, took the stuff I used to apply to my face, and started looking things up on his phone.

"Ying'er, you're too naive. You've added a bit of all these things." He read aloud into his phone: "Chemicals. I don't know much about this stuff, but it's definitely not good. I've mixed aloe vera juice from outside with the medicine Master left in the room to make a medicine bag. You'll feel better after applying it."

"Those things must be substandard, that's why I did this."

"Alright, I checked the prices on my phone. They're all several thousand yuan a bottle, which is quite expensive. It's just that the space in Da Zhao is different from here. You used to use cosmetics made in the mansion, and you didn't wear them when you wore men's clothes, which is why you look like this."

I nodded: "I won't be curious next time."

He packed an ice pack for me and told me to apply it while he went to prepare the medicine. Luckily, my face recovered quickly, and by evening the redness and swelling were no longer noticeable.

"Ying'er~ If you want cosmetics, I'll get them for you."

I looked in the mirror; it was so classic and pretty, I wanted to take it home. Hearing him say that, I just laughed.

"I know you're capable, but this kind of thing is for girls, so don't do anything reckless."

“It’s a good thing that you like to dress up, Madam. I won’t have to worry about you bringing in girls who will compete with me for your attention.” Xie Yuancheng threw the mirror in my hand aside. “If you bring in some men, I can be ruthless. The girls will give in a little, but they won’t be happy about it.”

"Okay, if you can manage, then go ahead and do it."

Anyway, he's the one who's getting tired, not me. Let's see when he can keep going. I'll make him stop when he's tired.

When the workbench was officially set up, I sat next to Xie Yuancheng and watched him entangle strange characters and images. After a minute of black screen, different scenes and characters appeared around us.

"Ying'er, this is the main control panel. These people are all in places where spacetime is disrupted, and Master and the others need to fix it." He pointed out many places to me, and thankfully, there were signs indicating the locations, which I could understand.

“We’ll just stay here and work with them. Once we’ve got everything sorted out, I’ll take you out for a stroll.”

"Forget it, 2020 isn't like Da Zhao, where people hand you their business cards as soon as you arrive. If you went out, it would be a different story."

"Don't even think about it. Even if I get caught, I can escape and find you."

He just knows how to make me happy. I leaned on his shoulder and watched his conversation with the shopkeeper. In just a few days, Xie Yuancheng's typing speed has improved so much.

As I looked at the dense text on the screen, a light on the main screen lit up. He tapped the air and pulled down the top image, then magnified the image by manipulating it with his index finger and thumb.

"That's amazing!"

I finally became a little interested, and he said with a smile, "I knew Ying'er would like this. I'll teach you in a bit."

After he finished setting up all the red-light areas, I saw the shopkeeper appear on the screen. The screen showed that he was more than 10,000 miles away from us; how did he get back, separated by the sea?

"I just found the damaged part, and Master is repairing it. If we're lucky, we might be able to see those people living in the sky, those people in outer space."

I nodded, staring intently at the screen, and sure enough, some strangely shaped aliens with thin arms and legs appeared.

"Yuancheng, they look so strange."

"Yes, I look better, and I look even better with Ying'er."

"loquacious."

I initially thought the shopkeeper was taking something to repair, but after watching, I realized that he first fought those aliens on the open sea, drove them away, and then, holding up his cane, quickly turned the damaged sea whirlpool into a tornado, gradually connecting the sea and the sky together.

"Is he repairing it?"

“Master said that this kind of spacetime restoration is different from our understanding, and it requires many methods and cannot be completed in one go.”

"Now you know very well that if you don't come with me when we go back, I'll bury you."

2020 is really convenient, with lots of strange and wonderful things. I feel like staying there for a long time would be a pleasure. I'm just worried that he thinks the same way.

"Waaah, Ying'er always wrongs me. If we could go back now, I'd take you with me, and we could roll around on our bed while we're at it."

Seeing that he was being inappropriate again, I pinched his handsome face and said, "If you say that again, I'll throw you out."

"I'm so pitiful. I was betrayed and my wife threw me out onto the street."

He was still tearing up as he spoke, so I quickly let go of his hand and rubbed his face: "Don't be like this, I was just saying, I won't go back to do it."

"Hmm." He teased me again, and I continued to look at the large screen in front of me. The shopkeeper's appearance was as if he were really right in front of us.

"Good apprentice, turn off the valve, and open it again next time."

I was worried the seawater behind him might crash into us. Xie Yuancheng agreed and pointed to several places on the table. Soon, the area behind the shopkeeper was calm again.

He started going off to do other things. Sometimes the shopkeeper would show up, sometimes his superior would appear. My eyes were getting tired from watching, so I just leaned on his shoulder and fell asleep.

When she woke up, the room was filled with images of flowers and birds, and Xie Yuancheng was no longer there.

"Yuancheng, where have you gone?"

I called his name, but there was no response. Had he gone out? I opened the door and walked around the yard, but I still couldn't see him. The yard's gate is smart-controlled; we can only leave together, so he's probably still inside, maybe sleeping.

I searched from the first floor to the second floor and finally found him in a small room on the second floor. The room was full of chemical bottles, and he was sitting inside wearing plastic glasses, staring at the table.

The door was locked, so I could only knock on the transparent door. Luckily, he looked up, turned off the light, and drew the curtain. When he came out, he had taken off his white clothes and glasses.

"What are you doing in there? I looked for you in so many places before I found you."

"They're preparing cosmetics for Ying'er. I asked my master, and he said this is a laboratory, so I can do whatever I want in here, as long as it doesn't catch fire."

"The shopkeeper even knows how to use cosmetics?"

"He definitely won't. I just tried it, and it's not what I expected. Next time I'll bring my laptop in and do it while I'm looking up information."

"Yuancheng, don't work so hard. You have to look at so many images and characters every day. What will I do if you get sick?"

He chuckled and pinched my nose: "You wish! Wait until I get sick, then you can sneak out and play."

"No, that's not it."

"Don't worry, I won't fall ill so easily. I still need to take care of Ying'er and make cosmetics for you."

"I don't need it now."

He pinched my face: "Such a fair and delicate face, plus makeup, is definitely very special."
