Chapter 308 Secret Affairs of the Prime Minister's Residence

Xie Yuancheng's face was full of provocation, while my expression was absolutely blank, though concealed by the veil. Yu'er, on the other hand, was different; his little mouth was slightly open, and his eyes remained fixed.

I changed the way I held Yu'er: "My good son, there will be something delicious soon, aren't you happy?"

Yu'er took a while to react before he finally broke into a smile. Xie Yuancheng picked him up and said, "We need to give our good son some fish for lunch to help him recover, otherwise he'll become a little dummy."

"Daddy~" Yu'er rubbed his eyes and snuggled into his arms. He must be starving right now. Wherever I go next time, I will prepare a big bag of things for my dear son, both necessities and food.

"Ying'er, let's eat out today and go back to the manor later."

"Okay." It would be a miracle if I changed your decision.

"You're being so obedient today. Didn't you always ask so many questions before?" Xie Yuancheng turned his face towards me. Did he think I had to embarrass him in public for him to think I was normal?

"Did you hit your head? You have such childish ideas. You shouldn't be a marquis anymore. You'd be better off being a fool."

I reached out to grab Yu'er, but he actually carried her and walked ahead, leaving me to chase after him. Yu'er leaned on his shoulder, laughing and waving his little hand, urging me to catch up.

"You two, father and son, have gone too far!" I kicked him as soon as he got on the carriage. Walking so fast, you don't even need to rush to be reincarnated.

“Ying’er, our Yu’er is hungry, and you’re still arguing with me. If all mothers in the world were like you, our good son would starve to death.”

"That's not me, it's clearly you!"

"Let's feed Yu'er first, then we can talk about things." Xie Yuancheng held Yu'er on his lap, and the two of them looked at me like this.

I turned away; it wasn't far from the disturbance, and I quickly disembarked from the carriage. I don't think I've been to this place before; it's called Ximeng Tower.

I don't know which idiot came up with this name; it makes me laugh every time I see it. I thought I'd have to wait to get in, but they'd already set out a table of food.

Xie Yuancheng actually fed Yu'er himself, and his serious expression made it clear that Yu'er didn't want to eat.

"Mother~" After Xie Yuancheng fed him three bites, Yu'er wanted to come to me.

“Son, your mother is still hungry, it’s the same if your father feeds you.”

"Daddy~ Waaah." Yu'er was about to cry, so I went over and hugged him, and Yu'er finally smiled.

When I fed him, Yu'er almost smacked his lips while eating, but he couldn't actually smack his lips. If he did, I would pinch his little mouth and not give him any more food.

"Hehe, I want Mommy to feed me~" Yu'er really got revenge for me, making Xie Yuancheng feel defeated for the first time.

"Ying'er, you spoil him too much. Children can eat by themselves, but you still starve yourself."

“Yu’er was already hungry, so you gave him the same thing first. You’re so mean, you’re a father and you don’t even think about your son.”

Just then, Yu'er heard a lot of children laughing outside, which attracted her. After eating a few bites, she wanted to go play.

"Where did all these children come from?" I looked at them; they were all dressed very well, about eight or nine years old, and very pretty.

"They're all the staff at the shop. If customers have children, they'll pop out and take the kids to play. If there are no children, they'll come and serve tea and water."

“They’re still quite small, I can’t bear to let Yu’er play with them~” I hugged Yu’er with my back to them: “Yu’er, if you don’t eat, your little tummy will turn into a big water spoon, and you won’t be able to eat anymore.”

Yu'er opened his little mouth but didn't speak. I scooped a spoonful of rice over to him, and he ate it immediately. He was especially well-behaved during the rest of the meal; it only took about the time it takes to burn an incense stick to finish feeding him.

"Ying'er, do you want me to feed her?" Xie Yuancheng, that meddlesome guy, had just finished cleaning Yu'er when he scooped up some rice for her.

I didn't want to eat it, but his expression clearly said that he would get angry if I didn't, so I ate it.

"Alright, let Yu'er go and rest. We have something to discuss." Xie Yuancheng carried Yu'er out, where a nanny was standing.

How could I let a stranger take care of my son? When I ran over to see, the nanny had already left with Yu'er in her arms, and Yu'er was even joking with her.

"Alright, Yu'er will be asleep soon. Let's eat first, and then we can talk about the Prime Minister's residence."

"Okay." I have no reason to refuse, so I might as well go to dinner with him.

Xie Yuancheng is addicted to feeding me, not me. Since he's talking about business, I won't argue with him. This morning, they were discussing things in the room, and the Crown Prince had a lot on his plate.

The Crown Prince wanted the Prime Minister to wholeheartedly assist him, and even wanted Xie Yuancheng to secretly help him—this man was dreaming too much. The Crown Prince didn't bring up the topic again when the Second Prince went in later.

"What did you two talk about?" I propped myself up on my hands and looked at him. We had almost finished eating the food on the table, so I knew a few things.

"Didn't I just say it? I'll tell you again. Ying'er's brain isn't working very well, so I need to help you sort it out."

"Take your paws away, or I'll ignore you!" I carried my good son out, and I hadn't even had a chance to warm him up yet.

"Ying'er~ How could you say that to me? My paws were just coaxing you to sleep this morning."

"Tell me quickly, or I'll go find Yu'er and leave you to perform a one-man show here."

"It's nothing serious. We still need to go there later, so we won't go home for now. But we'll be going out the back door this time. My mother-in-law will be here soon. We'll take Yu'er back with her before we go."

"Why go to all this trouble? It's absolutely not safe for me to take Yu'er with me. You know I haven't been having many dreams lately, what if they..."

"Not having a dream is a good thing, so don't worry about it. Uncle Cui is being attacked from both sides by the Crown Prince and the Second Prince. Last time they wanted to kill someone, and now they want to curry favor with him."

"They must be out of their minds."

"No, I don't know who leaked it, but the Prime Minister's residence has a secret room. I don't know if it's where people are imprisoned or where rare treasures are kept. They came here today for this very reason."

"How could that be? The Prime Minister's residence shouldn't have any secret rooms. Even if it did, they would only be for quick escape during a crisis."

"How can you be so sure?" Is he being too confident? What if it really is true?

The Crown Prince is a very annoying person, but his inside information is better than many others. When Lin Yang was being monitored, Xie Yuancheng didn't even notice in time.

“What Ying’er said isn’t impossible, so we really should go and ask. Even if there is a secret room, it won’t amount to anything, so why are they so concerned?”

"There must be something that frightens them, otherwise why would those two heartless devils care about the things in the Prime Minister's mansion?"

Xie Yuancheng suddenly looked at me with his eyes lit up: "Ying'er, were you eavesdropping on our conversation? How could you guess that?"

"Why would you need to eavesdrop? Arrogant people are only afraid when the other party has something on them; that's common sense."
