I pulled my clothes tighter. This little man, just because he's a bit taller than me, started bullying me.
"You're annoying, stay away from me!" I kicked him a few times but couldn't hit him. He pinned me down on the bed, his eyes red.
"I hate you, but who do you want to go out and see?" Xie Yuancheng got closer and closer, and I was almost startled: "I haven't been back for days, and you, instead of looking for me, go out and wander around. What kind of wife are you!"
I turned away and walked away. He wanted to go out; what did it have to do with me? Xie Yuancheng told me that he had been staying at the manor these past few days, feeling that his temper was too bad and wanting to change it, and yet I didn't even go to see him.
"Go away, I don't want to see you!" He was the one who made a fool of himself. Why should I go looking for him? He left without saying a word.
"If you won't see me, who are you going to see? You're all dressed up so nicely today, who did you go out to see?"
He was getting more and more outrageous. I couldn't break free, so I closed my eyes and stopped arguing with him, waiting for him to calm down. Xie Yuancheng said a lot, but I didn't hear a word he said.
"Ying'er~ How could you be so mean? You only care about your own happiness and don't even think about me."
Xie Yuancheng leaned on my shoulder and cried. I opened my eyes and saw that his eyes were red. I pulled him closer and put the hair ornament he had thrown away in anger aside.
“You’re the one who’s angry. If I start arguing with you, it’ll never end.” I took out a handkerchief to wipe his tears, but Xie Yuancheng turned away and ignored me.
I propped myself up and went over: "I just went out horseback riding, I didn't do anything else. Next time I promise, if you're not around for even half a day, I'll look for you everywhere!"
My dear Chengcheng, please don't be angry. It was my fault this time. Even though you're petty, please forgive me.
Seeing him cry made me feel terrible; he really knows my weakness. Seeing him still lost in thought, I leaned over and kissed him, and only then did Xie Yuancheng look over.
"Who did you see when you went out today?" He pinned me down with his hand behind my back, looking like he was about to interrogate me.
"There's no one here, they're all people I don't know. I need to take the children out occasionally, they can't always stay at home."
"You're all smiles when you're chatting with other people, but you have a deadpan expression when you see me. That's a double standard!"
"Yes, I can't possibly put on a stern face to strangers, can I? Otherwise they'll all say that the Marquis's wife is too fierce and that Linyang will suffer a disaster in the future!"
"Let's see who dares to say that!" When Xie Yuancheng is acting like a child, you have to agree with everything he says. I agree with everything he says and don't argue with him.
The sun is shining brightly outside. Although the weather is getting cooler, the sun is still shining. I've been confined to the house again today. I grind ink for him every day and help him paint.
"This outfit looks familiar." I looked at the red clothes he had drawn; he had only drawn the clothes, not the person.
"Hmph!" Xie Yuancheng, that little arrogance, has been giving me the cold shoulder for three days, only changing his expression at night. Now he's even giving me the cold shoulder again.
"Sigh, the Marquis is too difficult to please. I'd better go out for a walk and check on the children."
I made a move to leave, but Xie Yuancheng came over and pulled me to sit down: "Don't you know how to coax me a little more?"
Seeing his aggrieved expression, I said a lot of nice things to him, things I had learned from books and based on my usual impressions. Xie Yuancheng was finally fooled.
"Not bad, next time let Ying'er copy the book, those are really nice words!"
"If you're so nice, then stop being so temperamental. You've been back for a while now, and the teacher said he was going to teach me something, but now he's nowhere to be seen. And you, I've already told you everything, but you still won't let it go."
"How can that be the same? We made a plan last time. If you had been arrested, do you know that we would have been separated forever!"
Xie Yuancheng looked reproachful, so I quickly snuggled into his arms, fiddling with his sleeve. "I... I know I was wrong, but didn't the bracelet help you a lot? The villagers are very grateful to you~"
I smiled at him, and Xie Yuancheng swallowed all the words of reproach he wanted to say. I hugged his neck and leaned in to kiss him. Just as he wrapped his arms around my waist, I heard something fall to the ground.
I turned around and saw the new maid. She looked flustered. I blocked Xie Yuancheng and let her go first, but she just stared blankly.
This time I was dumbfounded. I called out to Xiaoyun, and as soon as she came in, she knew what was going on. She pulled me out of the room. I poured tea for Xie Yuancheng and asked him why this little maid had come to our room.
"It was because my sister took pity on her and had younger siblings that she was allowed into the mansion. I'll go ask her about it tomorrow."
"Why tomorrow~" I put the teacup on the table, and Xie Yuancheng picked me up. That wicked guy, he always takes advantage of me when I'm not on guard.
"Wait, we haven't mentioned whose red wedding dress it is yet."
"Ying'er~ Of course it's yours. This is my drawing. The tailor made a few changes, but I remembered them all. If you want to compare, we can do it again tomorrow~"
I laughed and pulled at his clothes. No wonder I felt it was familiar earlier. Bizhu had packed this outfit in her box back then. I was in a bad mood at the time and even thought about throwing it away.
I told him I wanted to wear it again, and Xie Yuancheng happily agreed, even saying he'd hold a new wedding for me. I grabbed his arm and shook my head; holding another one would be too unlucky. I could picture it from the painting.
Besides, if I redo it, I can't see it everywhere. I'd better make Xie Yuancheng happy and have him take me to see the places where the paintings are hanging.
I woke up as soon as it was light the next day. Xie Yuancheng didn't want to get up yet. "Ying'er, you were up so late last night, you're still so energetic."
"Come on, I want to see it~" I kissed his eyes, and Xie Yuancheng finally got up.
This time it was my turn to dress him. I made several mistakes, but Xie Yuancheng was happy. In the end, he dressed him perfectly. I looked at each step carefully and then we did it again.
"Should we take the little ones to see it?" I was happy; I always think of the children when good things happen.
"They're still young. We'll show it to them when they're older and can read. This is something I wrote for Ying'er. I've already chosen a name for her: 'Marrying My Wife.'"
"It sounds so good, but my lord is the best."
"Yeah, and you still throw a tantrum at me, ignoring me one minute and running away the next."
"I want to give us space to vent. If we're always together, what will happen when I get old and you suddenly start to dislike me? I'll have no one to cry to!"
Xie Yuancheng combed my hair. He's such a warm person, it's a rare sight indeed. He even put a floral decoration on me and said I was overthinking things.
"Don't talk nonsense. Even if you lose all your teeth, you're still my Ying'er! By the way, you asked that little maid yesterday. When you were asleep, I asked my sister. She said that when we had a fight, it was her who brought me a warm cloak late at night. Did you call her over?"
