Chapter Fifty-One: We Can Go Back to the Ji Residence (Part 1)

“You two are always together. I’m running around trying to figure out what to do today, and you’re still here being all lovey-dovey.”

Li Zhaole is moving too slowly; I thought she was still inside the palace.

"The princess is back. It's cold outside, let's go to the palace to rest first."

"snort."

As Zhang Mama walked by, she gave me a wink, as if to say, "You can't even handle the Empress, can you?"

"Your Highness, come here."

I stood obediently to the side, hoping that I wouldn't receive any shocking news.

"My mother and I have discussed it, and we think it would be better for you to stay at the Ji residence and avoid trouble for now."

I can go back to the Ji residence now.

"Princess, is this true?" I was overjoyed; I could finally go back to the palace.

"Why are you so happy? Heqing Palace is no good."

I quickly shook my head: "No, I have been in the palace for some time and have been missing my mother. Now that I can go back, I am inevitably a little excited. I hope the princess will forgive me."

There is nothing better than this.

"It's good that you're thoughtful. I originally wanted to go with you, but I was afraid of alerting the enemy. The Empress Dowager said that Cailu will definitely want to recruit you to be the consort of Chequ this time. Don't you even look at Chequ, such a small country? How can it compare to the Great Zhao?"

I nodded; whatever she said went.

"Also, this time you were sent out on patrol under the pretext that she wouldn't see you, so maybe she'll give up."

Whether she's resigned to her fate or not doesn't matter; the important thing is that I can go back to the manor.

Granny Zhang asked from the side, "Princess, should the Prince Consort be accompanied by someone when he returns this time?"

I don't want anyone. "Princess, the manor has everything. If someone from the palace is with me, Princess Cailu will probably become suspicious."

Li Zhaole nodded, she was conflicted, she really didn't want the palace maid to come back with her.

“Princess, I know some medical skills and can take care of the prince consort.”

"You lowly servant, what right do you have to speak? Don't think you can be so self-righteous just because you're receiving a different salary than others."

"Your Highness, I would never dare to have any disloyal thoughts. I am truly worried that the Prince Consort is still recovering from his serious injuries, and if anything were to happen to him, the consequences would be unimaginable. I will write to the palace every day to keep Your Highness informed of the Prince Consort's daily condition."

I disagree.

I guess Li Zhaole is afraid that something might happen between me and Wan'er. But that's fine, as long as I'm back at the manor, I won't be afraid of anything anymore.

"Princess."

"Step back."

Wan'er stood up, looking very aggrieved. She was dressed so lightly; she really hoped she wouldn't catch a cold.

"No one is allowed to go; the prince consort must stay in the mansion."

I have to give Li Zhaole a thumbs up this time; I completely agree with this decision.

I coughed a few times, pretending to be a princess. "Princess, thank you for your help. I'm feeling unwell and would like to go back and rest."

Seeing that she agreed, I gave Wan'er a look, signaling her to hurry up and follow.

Wan'er had finished packing her things and stood to the side with her head down.

"Wan'er, you must be careful in the palace. Try not to appear in front of her unless necessary."

"My lord, please beg the princess to let me return to the palace with you. I've stayed here before. Besides, there are so many people in the palace; the absence of one maid wouldn't be noticeable."

I helped her up and said, "I don't know how to bring this up. I'll go back first. I probably won't be staying in Chequ Kingdom for long. Maybe I'll be back soon."

Wan'er nodded with tears in her eyes, "Once I'm on my own, I'll definitely find you a good family."

Things went too smoothly; Consort Ji came to invite me early this morning, and I should say goodbye to her.

Consort Ji was even treated better than the Crown Prince by butterflies while she was in the countryside.
