Chapter 129 Unstoppable Forces to Conquer the Northern Frontier

The soldiers listened quietly, their eyes gleaming with a longing for victory.

Consort Mu continued, "Tonight, I order the slaughter of sheep and horses in the cities we have already captured, so that every soldier can have enough to eat and drink. Tomorrow, we will press on and take the Northern Frontier Capital in one fell swoop, bringing this battle to a successful conclusion."

These words were met with cheers from the soldiers. They felt the care and concern of Consort Mu and were filled with confidence for the battle to come.

"Long live Consort Mu!" Someone shouted first, and then the entire camp echoed with cheers for Consort Mu and anticipation of victory.

Consort Mu smiled; she knew that with morale high, victory in this battle was within reach. She stepped down from the command platform, personally inspected the camp, and visited the soldiers.

In every corner of the camp, soldiers sat around campfires, heartily devouring roasted meat, their faces beaming with satisfaction. They talked about tomorrow's battle, discussing how to coordinate their attacks and how to capture the city; the atmosphere was both lively and tense.

Night fell, and Consort Mu returned to her tent. She knew tomorrow would be a tough battle, but she was fully prepared. She believed that with the support and trust of her soldiers, nothing was impossible.

Xu Yunchuan found Consort Mu in the tent, his eyes filled with doubt and inquiry: "Consort Mu, there is something I don't understand, and I don't know if I should say it."

Consort Mu looked at Xu Yunchuan, a knowing glint in her eyes, and smiled slightly: "Yunchuan, what is there between us that we can't say?"

Xu Yunchuan took a deep breath and mustered his courage to say, "Your Majesty, your heroic bearing on the battlefield is just like the legendary Northwest War God. This humble general dares to ask, do you have any connection with that general?"

Consort Mu was silent for a moment, her eyes becoming deep, as if she had traveled through time: "Yun Chuan, you are indeed very perceptive. Indeed, I do have an inexplicable connection with that general."

A hint of shock flashed in Xu Yunchuan's eyes, but he quickly calmed down and listened attentively to Consort Mu's words.

Consort Mu slowly recounted: "Years ago, I had a fortuitous encounter with the God of War of the Northwest, during which our souls were swapped. Since then, I have possessed his memories and combat skills. I have never mentioned this to anyone else."

After listening, Xu Yunchuan did not show any doubt, but instead showed an expression of admiration: "This humble general believes in Your Majesty, because only the wisdom and courage of the God of War can explain Your Majesty's extraordinary performance on the battlefield. Moreover, I have followed the Emperor of Qi since I was a child, and I have long noticed that something is wrong with him. If it were the old him, he would have ordered the destruction of the Northern Frontier, or even brought his own army here."

Consort Mu was gratified by Xu Yunchuan's trust. She stood up, her gaze firm: "Yunchuan, I'm only telling you this. I need your support for tomorrow's battle."

Xu Yunchuan immediately knelt on one knee and solemnly bowed: "This humble general swears to follow Your Majesty to the death. No matter what Your Majesty's status is, this humble general's loyalty will never change."

Consort Mu helped Xu Yunchuan up, her eyes shining with gratitude: "Having a general like you is my good fortune, and also the good fortune of our army."

The next day, General Xu and Xu Yunchuan led the assault team to set off first, traversing the treacherous mountains to directly attack Qiluhar. Meanwhile, Consort Mu led the main force, silently circling around to the city's west gate, preparing to launch a surprise attack.

The walls of Qiluhar soared into the clouds, but Consort Mu showed no fear. She knew this battle would be a contest of wits and courage, and she was fully prepared.

General Xu stood at the front of the battle line, his silver armor gleaming in the sunlight. His gaze was resolute as he faced the towering walls and bottomless moat of Qiluhar, the capital of the northern frontier. Beside him, his soldiers were in high spirits, vowing to follow him to the death.

"Soldiers, for the dynasty, for glory, we must conquer this city today!" General Xu's voice echoed across the battlefield, every word brimming with power.

The soldiers shouted and brandished their weapons, rushing towards the city gate like an unstoppable torrent. However, Yelü Hongji, as the commander of the northern frontier, had already laid numerous checkpoints and traps within the city.

Arrows rained down, and boulders and oil poured down from the city walls. General Xu's soldiers, though valiant, failed several times in their assaults against such fierce defense. Soldiers fell one after another, but those who survived pressed on relentlessly.

Seeing this, General Xu felt as if his heart was being torn apart, but he knew that he could not retreat at this moment. He brandished his spear and personally led the assault team, braving the rain of arrows and rolling stones, towards the city gate.

"General Xu, no!" Xu Yunchuan cried out urgently from the side, but General Xu had already rushed into the battlefield, his figure appearing and disappearing in the smoke and fire.

General Xu stood at the forefront of the battlefield, his gaze resolute. Although the years had etched deep marks on his face, his back remained straight, just like his indomitable will. His son, Xu Shu, had caused significant losses in a battle due to a mistake, a fact that General Xu deeply regretted, believing it was due to his poor upbringing.

"Soldiers, today's battle concerns honor and loyalty!" General Xu's voice echoed across the battlefield. He drew his longsword, its blade pointing at the enemy ranks ahead. "Follow me! For the dynasty, for our homeland, charge!"

Inspired by General Xu's courage, the soldiers shouted and followed him, charging towards the enemy's heavily fortified lines. Arrows rained down, war drums thundered, and General Xu led from the front, each swing of his sword carrying decisiveness and power.
