Chapter 14 Departure from Ganzhou

When Lin Zao returned to the courtyard, it was almost midnight. When she opened the door, she saw three children sitting on the threshold looking in her direction.

Seeing that she had finally returned, the little ones jumped up with joy.

"Mommy's home! Mommy, why are you so late?"

Tiger Head was almost in tears, and Ya Ya happily ran to Tang's mother's room to report the news.

"Grandmother, Grandmother! Mother is back."

Even Xiao Bao happily greeted her, "Auntie, you're finally back! We were all so worried about you!"

Lin Zao squatted down and hugged Hu Tou, Xiao Bao, and Ya Ya, who had run out of Tang's mother's room again.

"I'm so sorry, Mommy will never come home this late again and make you worry! Are you hungry? Mommy will go and make you something delicious, okay?"

"Okay~ Mommy, I want to eat hot pot potatoes again~ Little Bao brother, my mom's cooking is so delicious!"

Ya Ya couldn't wait to show off to Xiao Bao, and Hu Tou kept wiping his drool. Seeing the twins' performance, the foodie Xiao Bao was already drooling, wishing he could eat it right away!

He hasn't had a decent meal in days!

Lin Zao didn't delay. She first went to Tang's mother's room to let her know that everything was alright, and then went into the kitchen to quickly prepare dinner.

Because of the addition of a little chubby child, Lin Zao prepared four dishes and a soup tonight: stir-fried potato slices (as requested by Ya Ya), braised prawns, braised pork, scrambled eggs with scallions, and tomato egg soup.

"Wow, Auntie, your braised pork is so delicious! The shrimp is delicious too! What are potatoes? They're delicious too! The eggs are delicious~ The soup is so good..."

Only the chubby boy at the table kept praising what he was eating! The others just quickly grabbed their chopsticks and ate in silence.

Lin Zao was amused by the chubby boy. Actually, her cooking skills weren't that great; she was far inferior to a real chef. Her cooking mainly relied on modern seasonings, resulting in a richer flavor profile. Unlike here, the dishes were cooked in a lighter style, emphasizing freshness and being absolutely all-natural.

Dinner ended with the chubby boy exclaiming, "I've never eaten such delicious food in my life!"

Lin Zao originally planned to take his family to Ganzhou early the next morning, but now he has not been able to buy a person as promised, and has also gained a little fat boy.

"Xiao Bao, we're leaving tomorrow. Auntie will take you to the government office tomorrow morning so they can help you find your family, okay?"

Upon hearing Lin Zao's words, the chubby boy was struck dumb and immediately burst into tears.

"Wow~ I don't want to leave! I want to stay with you all. My daddy is amazing. Can you come to my house with me?"

"No! We want to go to my daddy's house, not yours!" Ya Ya said anxiously, afraid that Lin Zao would agree to Xiao Bao's request.

Lin Zao was in a bit of a predicament; it's really hard to soothe a child when they're making a fuss.

"Xiao Bao! Auntie said that Hu Tou and Ya Ya's fathers are both in Ganzhou. We have to go to Ganzhou, so we can't go to your house. We can go another time if we have the chance, okay?"

"Ganzhou?" Xiao Bao stopped crying instantly, his eyes lighting up!

"Great! My home is also in Ganzhou! Auntie, please take me with you~ I don't want anyone else to see me off!"

What a coincidence? Lin Zao looked at the chubby boy suspiciously, afraid that he was making things up to be with them.

"Really? You're not lying to me?"

"My home is in Ganzhou! My family also owns a big restaurant called Zuixiaolou! I would never lie to you, Auntie, you can believe me!"

Seeing Xiao Bao's confident assurances, even mentioning the name of the restaurant, it seemed to be true. I never expected it to be such a coincidence.

"Are you sure you want to go to Ganzhou with your aunts? We might encounter danger on the way!"

"I'm sure!" the chubby boy said firmly.

"Alright then, let's set off together tomorrow morning!"

Lin Zao helped Tang's mother and the children wash up and told them to go to sleep first. She then packed up the remaining things in the house and put them on the mule cart in the yard so they could set off after breakfast the next day.

The next morning, the group got ready early and boarded the mule cart. Lin Zao closed the door, returned the key to the broker who came to hand over the keys, took one last look at the courtyard, and drove the mule cart away from the courtyard where they had lived for half a month.
