Chapter 40 Cooking by My Own

Looking at the threshold inside the house, it seems that we need to buy the house from the owner so that the thresholds and steps can be repaired and leveled. This way, Tang's mother can come and go freely in the house without needing anyone's help.

"Why don't you let Jian'er use this wheelchair first? I don't need it now, since Aunt Ren is helping me. Jian'er is the one who needs it the most."

When Tang's mother heard that her son could also use it, she definitely wanted to let him use it first.

"Mother, you use it. I don't need it now! Besides, I have Sun Ding and Tian Bu'er to take care of me."

"Mother, there's no need for you and your husband to be so modest!" Lin Zao said, seeing the two of them pushing each other away.

"I'll order another one. With the experience I gained, I'll add a little more money, and I'm sure I can make another one in two days!"

The two then fell silent.

Seeing that it was almost noon, Lin Zao decided to go to the kitchen to cook.

"Dr. Zhang, please stay for lunch! I have something I'd like to discuss with you!"

Although Dr. Zhang was a little puzzled as to what she wanted to talk to him about, he did not refuse and left the three of them to chat in the house. Lin Zao went to the kitchen and found Aunt Ren picking vegetables.

Since Lin Zao started going back and forth to the village, she has rarely come to the kitchen to cook. It has been Aunt Ren who has been taking care of Tang's mother, cooking, washing clothes and looking after the whole family all by herself.

It's fair to say that without Aunt Ren, Lin Zao and Tang's mother wouldn't have had an easy time.

"Aunt Ren, you should rest. Let me cook lunch. You've worked so hard these past few days!"

"How can you say that, Madam? If it weren't for you, I would be dead long ago. It's also because of you that Prince Cheng agreed to help me find out about my two children! And now he's letting me live here peacefully!"

"So it is my blessing to serve you. I would be willing to sell myself to you and be your slave. I am just doing what I can! Please don't be so polite, Madam!"

Lin Zao was afraid that if she continued talking, Aunt Ren would really sell herself to them, so she quickly stopped talking.

She simply pushed Aunt Ren out of the kitchen to rest, leaving her alone to prepare a delicious meal, as she hadn't cooked much lately.

I took out a lot of meat and vegetables from the space to prepare.

First, cut the sausage, then prepare the potatoes and carrots, and start steaming the sausage rice.

Next, I'll prepare a dish of Dongpo pork that's fatty but not greasy, and a spicy grilled grass carp. Since I don't have a grill, I'll just deep-fry the fish in a pan.

I fried a big bowl of crispy pork in the oil pan. This can be stored for later; the kids can eat it when they come home tonight.

For the meat dishes, I also made Kung Pao Chicken.

For vegetarian dishes, I made hot and sour shredded potatoes, Mapo tofu, and scrambled eggs with tomatoes.

Add a bowl of corn and pork rib soup, and lunch is ready.

When all the food was laid out on the table, the two guards that Tang Jian had sent out on his mission returned.

Lin Zao didn't set up separate tables, but let everyone sit down and eat together.

It was only at this moment that Doctor Zhang realized Tang Jian was actually a general! A third-rank Anbei General!

He was so frightened that he immediately tried to kneel down, but Tang Jian stopped him and he dared not sit down.

Seeing that he was completely unpretentious and sat down to eat with everyone at the same table, and that he treated him very kindly, Dr. Zhang finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Ever since the incident with the prefect of Luolin, he had become somewhat afraid to associate with these high-ranking officials and dignitaries.

Looking at the table laden with delicious food, much of which they had never seen before, no one knew where to begin.
