Chapter 50: It's all up to you.

There were also two fully armed soldiers guarding the gate.

Upon seeing Tang Jian appear, the two knelt on the ground excitedly and loudly greeted him.

"Your subordinate greets the General! General, you've finally returned!"

Looking at the scene before her, Tang's mother finally had a clear sense of reality regarding Tang Jian's status and position.

Tang Jian waved his hand in response.

"Get up, both of you. What are you doing here?"

"Reporting to the General, we were sent by the Prince. When the General was injured, the soldiers in the camp were very worried about him, so they sent the two of us to visit him."

"Yes, General, we were so worried about you! Who knew you weren't at the Prince's residence? So the Prince sent us to the General's residence to wait for you."

The two soldiers explained the situation, one after the other.

"I'm sorry to have worried you all, I'm fine. You may all return to your camps if you have nothing else to do; there's no need for anyone to guard this place!"

It's unlikely that anyone would dare to cause trouble at the General's Mansion.

The two soldiers exchanged a glance, then looked away, not daring to refute Tang Jian.

"Yes, General!"

After Tang Jian and his group entered the general's mansion, one of the soldiers asked:

"Are we really going back to the military camp? I don't want to go back to the military camp so soon!"

"That won't do. The general will definitely need people to guard his residence. Let's go back and bring a group of people over to give the general a surprise! I'm sure everyone will be fighting tooth and nail to come!"

After saying this, the two nodded knowingly and left the general's mansion together.

As soon as Lin Zao and his group entered the general's mansion, the first thing they saw was a huge training ground, filled with all kinds of weapons, wooden stakes, stone blocks, and so on.

Beyond the drill ground lies a garden, shaded by lush trees, with lotus flowers standing gracefully in the pond, dividing the entire General's Mansion into two areas, front and back.

A covered walkway runs on all four sides, and several houses stand in a staggered arrangement in the front yard.

The group crossed the pond on a bridge and went directly to the backyard.

Passing through the hanging flower gate, one sees winding corridors and several houses of varying sizes.

By the time Tang Jian had led them on a tour of the General's Mansion, they had completely missed lunch, which showed just how large the General's Mansion was!

Seeing a hint of fatigue on Tang's mother's face, Tang Jian asked Aunt Ren to take her to rest for a while, and then continued to lead Lin Zao to the warehouse.

After Lin Zao had a general understanding of the layout of the General's Mansion, he felt that there was nothing that needed to be changed. He just needed to level the main roads and remove some thresholds. If things went smoothly, the repairs could be completed in a day.

After Lin Zao shared her thoughts with Tang Jian, she received a fervent look in return.

"You've worked hard, Madam. Everything is up to you!"

Lin Zao looked away. "If we move to the General's Mansion, we'll need to buy some servants. Once everything is settled, we can set a date."

Tang Jian nodded and glanced at Sun Ding beside him.

"You can just have the two of them do these things, Madam. Don't tire yourself out."

After Tang Jian led Lin Zao to the general's mansion's storeroom, he had Sun Ding open the storeroom door.

"The things in here are all gifts from the Prince over the past few years, as well as some I collected myself. The Prince used to have people manage them for me, but now I'm giving you the key!"

The storeroom was filled with priceless treasures, including precious calligraphy and paintings, exquisite porcelain, gorgeous silk fabrics, divine weapons, and more!

Lin Zao looked at Tang Jian in surprise, then at all these things, never expecting him to be so wealthy!

Sun Ding took a small box from a shelf in the warehouse, opened it, and handed it to Lin Zao.

It was a huge stack of silver notes!

"Here are 20,000 taels of silver notes. There are also several boxes filled with silver, probably more than 10,000 taels in total. I'm entrusting them all to you for safekeeping!"

Tang Jian looked at Lin Zao with a serious and solemn expression, as if he were entrusting himself to Lin Zao for safekeeping!

Even as they rode back in the carriage, Lin Zao could still hear Tang Jian's domineering and deep voice echoing in her ears. She felt dizzy and didn't even realize that Tang Jian was holding her hand.

He paid no attention to Tang's mother's inquisitive yet kindly teasing tone.

She wasn't blinded by the money; she was almost completely swayed by the man's sweet talk!

Until the carriage made a crashing sound, "Bang!"

Lin Zao instinctively helped Tang's mother and Tang Jian, and asked Sun Ding and Tian Bu'er who were driving the carriage outside.

"What happened?"

A voice, as shy as a nightingale's, drifted over.

"My daughter Yang Yuechan greets General Tang. May I ask how the General is doing these days?"
