Chapter 51 Jealousy

Lin Zao's hand trembled as she was about to lift the carriage curtain, and she paused for a moment before continuing.

At that moment, her heart instantly cooled down.

Standing in front of the carriage was Yang Yuechan, the granddaughter of the Duke of Yang, whom Xiao Bao had met before at his birthday celebration.

She sat gracefully by the carriage door, her tender gaze drifting past Lin Zao to look at Tang Jian behind her.

Her delicate eyebrows furrowed slightly, and she bit her lip gently, as if she had a thousand words she wanted to tell someone.

Although she didn't know what Tang Jian's expression was behind her, Lin Zao suddenly wanted to laugh. Had she encountered the legendary innocent flower?

"My wife and I have other matters to attend to. If Miss Yang has nothing else to attend to, please make way for us!"

Tang Jian's voice was cold and flat, completely ignoring Yang Yuechan.

Lin Zao couldn't help but turn around and glance at Tang Jian, only to find that he wasn't looking at Yang Yuechan, but rather gazing at her with a gentle tenderness in his dark eyes.

As if burned by his gaze, Lin Zao quickly turned away and stopped looking at him.

Yang Yuechan seemed to have been hit hard, her eyes filled with tears, but she bravely showed a gentle and generous smile.

"I only wanted to thank the general for saving my life last time, and I had no other intention. I hope this lady will not mind."

"This general is only acting on the orders of the prince. Miss Yang has come to the wrong person!"

After speaking, Tang Jian ignored Yang Yuechan's frozen figure and looked at the two people in front of the car.

"What are you standing there for? Get out of here!"

Sun Ding and Tian Bu'er quickly withdrew their amused gazes and drove their carriage past Yang Yuechan as they left.

Yang Yuechan was left behind watching them walk away into the distance, her eyes deep and calm.

The atmosphere between Lin Zao and Tang Jian in the carriage suddenly became quiet. Tang's mother and Aunt Ren exchanged glances and asked cautiously.

"Jian'er, how did you get to know that Miss Yang?"

Tang Jian glanced at Lin Zao, raised an eyebrow,

"When Lady Yang was on her way back to Ganzhou to pay respects to her ancestors, she encountered a group of bandits and sent someone to ask for help. The prince then ordered me to rescue her."

"I only met that Miss Yang once, and we're not close. What else would you like to know, Mother?"

Tang's mother gave an awkward smile and glanced at Lin Zao.

"You silly child! I'm just concerned about you, why can't I ask?"

"I wouldn't dare. Mother, just ask. There's no need to test me like this. I am a man of integrity and there's nothing I wouldn't dare to say to anyone."

Tang Jian found it somewhat amusing. Besides reassuring his mother, he also wanted to prevent Lin Zao from misunderstanding.

Lin Zao was actually wondering what kind of feelings she had for Tang Jian.

To say she had no feelings for him would be an understatement; her heart would race when she looked into his eyes, and she would feel a pang of jealousy when she saw Yang Yuechan.

But while she could say she had feelings for him, she couldn't bring herself to open her heart to him and lacked the desire to rely on or be close to him.

The most important point is that she is merely an outsider soul, someone who has taken over his wife's body.

She wasn't sure if she would ever return to her original world, so she dared not give anyone any emotional response, nor dared to fall in love with anyone.

Thinking of this, Lin Zao suppressed the feelings deep in her heart and decided to leave it at that.

She cherishes every moment, and most importantly, she wants to see her two children grow up healthy and safe. She will create the best living conditions for them.

That power of blood connection is truly magical, as if they were born from my own ten months of pregnancy. Just looking at them makes me feel that my life is complete.
