Chapter 64 Spend Time Together
The dusk was like thick ink soaking through the window frames. When the last group of guests left, the old-fashioned clock hanging in the entrance hall rang, and it was exactly seven o'clock.
Grandma Tang was tired today, and she needed to take good care of her body, so she went back to her room to rest.
The living room lights are on.
Tang Ximian loosened his tie and slumped onto the sofa. His tailbone was aching, and even his fingertips were aching dully - he didn't know how many people had patted his hands when he was toasting everyone just now.
"I'm so tired. By the way, where is Derich?" He kicked off his shoes, and his socks rustled on the wool carpet.
Tang Li was tidying up the scattered candy boxes on the coffee table. His bony fingers paused slightly. "Huh? Didn't I tell you? He went to visit his old friend."
Tang Ximian looked up at the afterimage of the rotating chandelier on the ceiling, and suddenly his memory came back: "Oh, I remember now."
He forced himself to stand up despite his aching back, his waistline bulging out from under his cotton shirt. "Then you should get some rest early, brother. I'll go upstairs and lie down for a while. We have to go to grandma's house tomorrow."
Tang Li's knuckles as he gripped the garbage bag suddenly turned white, and his Adam's apple rolled as he swallowed the words he hadn't spoken.
The moment Tang Ximian turned around, he finally spoke hoarsely: "Xiaomian, you, your parents might be there tomorrow. If you don't want to go, we won't go."
The air suddenly became stagnant.
Tang Ximian curled his fingers, facing away from his brother, and then suddenly loosened them as if burned, shrugging nonchalantly: "Go, why not? Just pretend you didn't see anything. I'm going to see my grandparents anyway."
His voice was too brisk, as if they were really just discussing tomorrow's schedule.
The wall lamp at the corner of the stairs stretched Tang Ximian's shadow very long, and it was not until the door was slammed shut that the shadow completely shattered in the darkness.
The soft bed was sunken into the shape of a person, but he impatiently pulled the blanket over his head, then suddenly lifted it up and threw it to the ground.
The moonlight seeped in through the gaps in the curtains, tangling with the incandescent light from the ceiling lamp, making his eyes burn.
"Oh, this is so annoying!!" Tang Ximian slammed his limbs onto the bed, a suppressed groan escaping from his throat.
He stared at the flickering light on the ceiling, his nails digging deep into his palms - only he knew that when the words "Mom and Dad" came out of Tang Li's mouth, the dull pain that had been dormant in his chest for many years began to gnaw at his heart again.
Just when Tang Ximian was entangled in painful emotions, the cell phone rang suddenly.
It was Si Yankai calling. He pressed the answer button, but before he could say anything, Si Yankai's gentle voice came over: "What are you doing?"
"What can I do? If you have something to say, please tell me."
Hearing Tang Ximian's irritable answer, Si Yankai seemed to understand something, changed his mind, and patiently coaxed him for a few words before asking him to come down.
Tang Ximian was stunned for a moment, then quickly stood up, tidied himself up briefly and went downstairs.
As soon as he saw Si Yankai, his eyes turned red and he threw himself into his arms.
Si Yankai patted his back gently and comforted him softly: "It's okay, I'm here."
Afterwards, Si Yankai drove Tang Ximian to an open place and took out the fireworks that had been prepared long ago.
Gorgeous fireworks bloomed in the night sky, and the light and shadow were reflected on Tang Ximian's face.
He looked at the beautiful scenery in front of him and his mood gradually calmed down.
Si Yankai raised the corner of his mouth slightly, his eyes fell gently on Tang Ximian, and asked softly: "Are you happier?"
Upon hearing this, Tang Ximian slowly turned his head and met Si Yankai's eyes.
His eyes were as bright as stars, and the slightly upturned corners of his mouth revealed a barely perceptible arrogance.
He nodded slightly in response to Si Yankai's question.
Seeing this, Si Yankai's smile grew even brighter, and his voice was tinged with joking: "Little brat, do you want to release it yourself?"
Seeing Si Yankai pull out a bunch of novel fireworks from a big bag, Tang Ximian's eyes lit up. He rummaged through the bag like a child, muttering, "This one's good, this one looks fun, I want this one too."
Tang Ximian picked up the first firework that caught his eye and carefully lit it.
With a "whoosh", the fireworks shot straight into the sky like a meteor, blooming colorful flowers in the air, and then scattered everywhere, falling golden fireworks.
Si Yankai looked at Tang Ximian's smiling face and smiled too, quietly enjoying this wonderful moment with him.
The two of them were having a lot of fun here, setting off fireworks and firecrackers, with laughter and cheers coming one after another.
Before they knew it, the fireworks were all gone, leaving only a mess on the ground. Si Yankai and Tang Ximian smiled at each other, then began to pack up their things.
They put the garbage into bags and sorted out the remaining fireworks and firecrackers and put them into big bags.
After packing up, Si Yankai drove Tang Ximian back home.
There is no way, there are still plans tomorrow. Si Yankai sighed, he doesn’t want to be separated from his baby!!!
