Chapter 26 Spend Time Together 26
The moment the cabin lights dimmed, Si Yankai's Adam's apple moved in the shadows, "Are you sure Brother Tang Li won't be angry?" The seat belt cut into the folds of his black turtleneck sweater, like an uneasy parabola.
"Shh—" Tang Ximian pressed the cold can of Coke against the side of Si Yankai's neck, watching him shudder. "My brother loves me the most. Last year, he gave everyone in the company a day off for the Lantern Festival just so he could fly back and eat tangyuan with me. He definitely won't say anything about me."
A golden light split the clouds outside the porthole, illuminating the dancing diamonds in Tang Ximian's eyes. Si Yankai looked at his cheeks puffing up as he bit the straw, and suddenly remembered the Lantern Festival in his senior year of high school. This man, with a similarly sly expression, had quietly slipped the peanut dumplings, which he disliked, into his bowl.
The sound of the Maybach rolling over the snow was unusually clear. In the rearview mirror, Tang Ximian was pulling his woolen hat down to cover the tips of his ears, which were red from the heater.
Si Yankai's thumb unconsciously rubbed the leather seat - just now at the airport, this guy insisted on putting their two suitcases side by side, just like kindergarten children holding hands to cross the street.
"Mr. Si, Mr. Tang, we're here." The driver took their luggage down, said hello to them, and left.
The fingerprint lock on the black iron door emitted a cold blue light. As soon as Tang Ximian placed his index finger on it, the password door slid open silently.
The Nordic snow light shines through the panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows, illuminating the wool carpet in the entrance.
Tang Ximian pushed the suitcase inside, his black Martin boots rolling over the frosted wooden floor of the porch. He was all too familiar with his brother's obsession with cleanliness. He always kept disposable slippers in the third drawer of the hallway cabinet, but now it was empty.
"Brother? Are you home?"
The crackling of logs in the fireplace answered him, and the air was filled with the scent of cedarwood, whiskey, and some unfamiliar cologne.
Si Yankai suddenly grabbed his wrist and his eyes fell on the corner of the spiral staircase - a piece of dark-patterned nightgown belt was hanging there, and the dark green silk swayed gently in the breeze.
"Surprise." The lazy British pronunciation is wrapped in a honey-like sticky feeling.
A blond man leaned against the second-floor railing, his bathrobe loosely draped at the collar, revealing a large expanse of his chest. His emerald eyes flickered in the firelight, like the gaze of a large cat stalking its prey. He swirled the old-fashioned glass in his hand, and the amber liquor rippled with the clinking of spherical ice cubes.
Tang Ximian was a little surprised and looked up at the second floor. "Who are you?"
"Me? Maybe you can ask your brother. But I can't guarantee that your brother is telling you the truth." The green eyes looked straight at Tang Ximian, as if looking at some prey.
Si Yankai took a step forward and met his gaze. "Don't look at him like that."
The automatic gate to the courtyard slowly opened. The sound of a black Bugatti rolling over the snow startled jackdaws from their perched pine branches, its headlights piercing the twilight.
"Mianmian?" Tang Li slammed the car door shut, the hem of his coat kicking up fine snow, his custom-made leather shoes leaving messy tracks in the snow. His eyebrows were sharp and his eyes were bright, his face lines were sharp yet gentle, and under his high nose bridge, his thin lips were slightly pursed, giving him a cold and upright aura. "Welcome home, didn't you say you were going on a trip? Why are you back so early?"
Tang Ximian was still a little dazed when her brother hugged her in his arms.
"Because I miss you, brother, I... that's not right." Tang Ximian reacted suddenly and took a step back. "Brother, there's a weird guy at home, the blond and blue-eyed one. Is he your friend? Or?"
"Forget it, don't worry, he wouldn't dare do anything to you."
When Tang Li took off his gloves, he gently stroked the back of his brother's neck with his ring finger. It was a habitual gesture they used to comfort each other when they were young. He glanced at Delish who was walking over, but there was a warning in his eyes that could not be refused.
"His name is Delish. He's kind of my brother's...partner, I guess."
