Chapter 53 Spend Time Together

Chapter 53 Spend Time Together

Si Yankai's leather shoes made a rapid sound as they stepped on the hospital corridor.

As soon as he got off the plane, Si Yankai rushed to the hospital without even having time to answer the phone.

The pungent smell of disinfectant made him dizzy. He took a deep breath at the door of the ward, pushed it open and saw his mother half leaning against the head of the bed, directing his father to peel an orange with a fruit knife.

"Yankai is back? Are you tired? Come and sit down." Mother Si had a smile in her eyes and a sickly flush on her cheeks, but she still held her husband's wrist tightly, and she seemed to be in good spirits.

"Look at your dad. He's so clumsy that he can't even peel an orange."

Mr. Si had a serious look on his face, but the tips of his ears were a little red. Sure enough, the orange peel on his fingertips fell into the tray with a "click".

Si Yankai smiled, glanced at the medical examination report on the bedside table, picked it up and took a look. The words "influenza virus infection" made him feel relieved.

Si's mother smiled gently. "It's okay, just the flu and a fever. Your father was worried and insisted on giving me a full body checkup. There's nothing wrong, just a little high blood pressure, everything else is normal."

After Si's mother fell asleep and covered herself with a quilt, the two of them quietly closed the door and retreated to the stairwell to talk.

"There's a traitor in the family, and the news has leaked to the enemy."

Si's father handed the document bag to his son, his suit wrinkled to the bone. "Now several companies are jointly sniping us. It shouldn't be difficult to deal with it, but your mother suddenly fell ill. I was worried, so I had to ask you to come back in a hurry..."

His voice trailed off, his fingertips rubbing the seal of the document bag. Si Yankai flipped to the first page, and the signature on the equity investment agreement was eye-piercing—it was the cousin he had called his uncle since childhood.

"After you've rested, go straight to the company. Just treat it as an experience for you, no need to show any mercy.

I'm getting old, and when I'm done with this, I'll slowly hand the company over to you. I want to save my time and spend more time with your mom."

Father Si took out a cigarette, but didn't light it. He just rubbed it in his hand.

Si Yankai nodded, took the documents and walked out. When he reached the stairs, he only said, "Dad, you've worked hard. Also, you're only in your forties, you're not old."

Father Si was a little surprised and stunned for a moment. Then, he smiled and scolded, "Stinky boy."

The Si Group building was brightly lit under the night sky. Si Yankai stood in front of the French window, overlooking the neon lights of the city.

The phone vibrated in my palm, and a message from Tang Ximian popped up on the lock screen: "How are you, is Auntie feeling better? Is the company in trouble?"

His thumb hovered over the keyboard, hesitant to press it. Suddenly, the office door flung open, and an assistant hurried in, clutching documents. "Mr. Si, I just received word that the Zhou Group increased their stake in us by 5% this morning..."

Suddenly, muffled thunder rolled outside the window.

Si Yankai looked at the skyline and remembered the mint candy that Tang Ximian had chased him out and stuffed into his pocket before leaving. It was now lying quietly in the inside pocket of his suit.

He took one out and put it on the tip of his tongue. As the coolness spread, he finally replied, "Yeah, it's okay. It's just the flu. When I'm done with this, I'll go over and keep you company. Just be good over there and don't run around."

"It's okay, just focus on your work and take good care of Auntie. There's no rush. I have my brother here, so just don't worry."

Lightning split the dark clouds, cleaving his shadow on the document in two.

The candy wrapper made a slight sound between his fingers, just like the person's habit of pinching the packaging bag whenever he was nervous.
