Chapter 31 Spend Time Together
While eating, he thought of what happened last night. Thinking of Si Yankai's expression after he knew all this, Tang Ximian couldn't help but shook his head.
"Headache?" Tang Li tapped the marble countertop with his knuckles and turned to look at Tang Ximian at the dining table.
Tang Ximian replied vaguely, "No," and with his eyes lowered, he picked at the golden sunny-side-up egg on the plate. The sound of the knife and fork clashing was mixed with the electronic sound of the combination lock at the entrance.
Si Yankai came in with a biting morning breeze, his sports headband pressing down his slightly damp hair, and his breath was filled with the coolness of morning dew.
"Good morning." His eyes swept across Tang Ximian's dark eyes, and he gently pinched the back of the boy's neck with his fingertips before turning around and going upstairs.
Tang Ximian stared at the little swirl made by the silver fork in the egg yolk, and only let out the breath he had held when he heard the sound of a door closing on the second floor.
The second half of breakfast was unusually quiet, except for Tang Li, who suddenly spoke while wiping his silver spoon: "There's a new archery area at the suburban equestrian field."
The porcelain spoon that Tang Ximian was using to scoop porridge stopped in mid-air, and in his peripheral vision, a piece of black sweatpants fluttered around the corner of the stairs.
Si Yankai was adjusting the hood of his sweatshirt behind his head, and the half of his forearm that was exposed was still slightly red from the evaporation of water vapor.
"Xiaomian, do you want to go out and play? It's just right that your brother can accompany you." Tang Li shook the car keys with a smile, and the metal ring buckle hit the mirror frame in the entrance with a jingling sound.
"Okay! I'll go upstairs and change my clothes and come back."
Si Yankai, who was following behind, locked the door with his backhand. The slight sound of metal snapping startled Tang Ximian so much that his back arched.
The oak wardrobe glowed with warm light in the morning light, and the golden thread leaking through the gaps in the blinds was climbing up the boy's rolling Adam's apple.
A palm covered with moisture suddenly grabbed his lower back, and the whole person was sucked into a vortex of mint fragrance and velvet.
Si Yankai bit the tip of his ear and chuckled: "Where's the courage you had to face the knife-wielding man yesterday? Huh? Why are you silent?"
The mint aftershave mixed with the lingering steam drifted over.
Tang Ximian struggled to turn around but her wrists were tied, and her butterfly bones hit the wardrobe with a dull sound.
Her fingertips rolled heavily over the wound on his lower lip from last night's scrape. "If your brother hadn't told me, I wouldn't have known you were so 'brave'. What if that guy is a martial artist? Have you ever thought about that? And did you promise me that you wouldn't drink when I'm not around?"
The watery red corners of her eyes were suddenly held tenderly, and the punishing bites turned into feather-like pecks, with wet flowers blooming all the way along her carotid artery.
"Wait, wait... No, I know I was wrong..." The boy's sobbing breaths fell on the other's shoulder, and his weak fingers grabbed the drawstring of his sweatshirt, "Brother is still down there..."
The unfinished words were cut off by a sudden knee thrust against the base of his thigh. A warm breath penetrated his ear: "Two and a half minutes left."
The sandalwood wardrobe reflected two overlapping silhouettes, and the swinging drawstring left a winding mark on Si Yankai's back.
When the third knock came from downstairs, Tang Ximian still had the heating patch that the other party had secretly stuffed into his sweatshirt rolled up in his sweatshirt.
Si Yankai wiped the tears from the corners of his eyes with his thumb, pushed him against the door panel and finally bit the tip of his nose: "Wait until tonight..." The unfinished words rolled back with his Adam's apple, and when his fingertips brushed across the boy's lower back, he gently straightened the hem of his clothes.
When the hour struck, Tang Li was fastening the silver buckles on his deerskin gloves.
The slight creaking sound of leather tightening mixed with the footsteps falling down the stairs.
He opened his eyes and saw Tang Ximian tugging at his fur collar, trying to hide the red mark behind his ear. The boy's sneaker laces were half undone, and Si Yankai followed two steps later, his right hand still resting on Tang Ximian's right shoulder.
Tang Li just glanced at Si Yankai and warned him not to bully his younger brother.
He casually handed the car keys to Tang Ximian. "This is the gift I bought you for your last birthday, so I'm giving it to you now."
"Thank you, brother. I love you so much."
Tang Ximian cheered and took the car keys.
When Tang Ximian got off the car and saw the car, he realized that his excitement was too early.
"A new limited edition supercar!! Brother, you even modified it for me! Brother, you are the most handsome brother in the world!" Tang Ximian jumped up excitedly and hung on Tang Li.
Tang Li calmly caught him and touched Tang Ximian's slightly curly hair. "There are requirements. You can open it, but you can't open it when you are alone. Do you understand?"
"Got it! I promise not to drive alone!"
