Chapter 107 Refusal
In the freezing snow, the man before her was both frivolous and gentlemanly. Wen Jiu looked at him and remained silent for a while before saying, "I'm leaving."
"Um?"
"It will be harder to get a taxi any later."
He Shixu smiled, his features refined and handsome: "I'll take you."
"No."
I was rejected again.
If I remember correctly, this should be the second time.
He glanced at her quietly; the girl was quick-witted and could easily see through his meaning.
If she still acts this way even after he's seen through it, it means either she's not interested in him or she's playing hard to get, but he's too lazy to think about either of them anymore.
His feelings for her were just a passing fancy.
He Shixu didn't have much patience, nor was he as indulgent as Xie Tinghe. For him, it was unnecessary to force someone, and playing hard to get would be too much trouble.
Moreover, the person in front of me is related to Zhou Yanchuan.
Wen Jiu bid farewell and left.
When Xie Tinghe came out and saw that there was only one person in the yard, he asked in confusion, "Where's the little oriole?"
"They're gone."
"You couldn't keep her?"
He Shixu lifted his foot and walked out: "No."
That day, Xie Tinghe talked the whole way in the car, mostly about Wen Jiu.
He was most interested at this moment; in his words, this girl was really quite interesting.
He Shixu reached out and picked up a bottle of mineral water, unscrewed it and took a sip. The cold water made him feel inexplicably choked.
"Hey, isn't that a little oriole?"
A voice suddenly rang in his ears. He wasn't quite used to being called "Little Oriole" yet, and it took him a few seconds to realize who it was referring to.
He Shixu looked out the car window.
In the darkness, a girl in a white down jacket squatted by the bus stop sign, holding her phone in one hand and lightly clutching her stomach with the other.
What's wrong with her?
"have no idea."
"Please stop the car, let me ask."
He Shixu slowly brought the car to a stop in front of the people.
The person in the passenger seat unbuckled their seatbelt and leaned towards him to look out the window.
Wen Jiu thought her taxi had arrived and was about to get in when the car window was suddenly opened, and He Shixu's face appeared in her line of sight unexpectedly.
At the same time, a clear male voice rang out.
"Little Jiu, what's wrong?"
"fine."
"Your lips are all white and you're still saying you're okay? Get in the car, we'll take you to the hospital."
Wen Jiu wanted to refuse again, but the man in the driver's seat, who hadn't spoken until now, said calmly, "Are you sure you can hold out until a taxi arrives?"
“It’s the middle of nowhere, and it’s snowing. I doubt any cars would want to come here,” Xie Tinghe replied casually. Then he added, “Little Jiu, why don’t you come on up?”
Wen Jiu had already started trying to hail a taxi while changing clothes backstage, but due to the cold weather, slippery roads, and the remote location, no taxis came.
Just then, the phone in her palm suddenly vibrated.
She thought the car was almost there and looked down excitedly, but it turned out to be a notification that her order had been cancelled.
He Shixu caught a fleeting hint of sadness in the girl's eyes and asked, "Have you thought it through?"
The people on the ground looked up at him.
A few seconds passed.
"No."
After Wen Jiu said that, the car sped past without any hesitation.
She knew she had offended this person.
In his opinion, perhaps she was being ungrateful.
However, from beginning to end, Wen Jiu did not want to have any contact with this group of people.
She noticed that these people seemed to become familiar with someone very easily, not because they were particularly enthusiastic, but because they regarded those with lower backgrounds as small animals.
If you're interested, you'll touch and poke at it; if you lose interest, you'll kick it away without any pity.
He Shixu treated her like he was teasing a cat under the eaves.
It was as if her slight unease and avoidance were nothing more than the normal reaction of a small animal being shy.
If he were just a little gentler and more patient, he could soothe the situation.
They didn't even care about her relationship with Zhou Yanchuan.
Because in his view, they were just pets, and he would have to abandon them sooner or later.
There are so few people like them. Even the smallest act of kindness feels like charity. The more you interact with these people, the more you realize how rare and precious Zhou Yanchuan is.
Wen Jiu didn't want to get involved with them anymore; she just wanted to spend the next year or two with Zhou Yanchuan.
At that moment, she never imagined that once you meet some people, you can never shake them off.
What happened afterward was like a tangled ball of yarn with no beginning or end, tangled and impossible to untangle.

The car started abruptly, and Xie Tinghe swallowed back the words he was about to say.
He raised an eyebrow: "So you have no chivalry towards women?"
He Shixu said in a cold voice, "It's because she doesn't want to sit."
The snow outside seemed to be falling even heavier. Looking at the white road ahead, he felt a nameless anger stuck in his chest, unable to be exhaled or swallowed.
I really don't know whether to say she's too insightful or a bit stupid.

Wen Jiu was lucky that day; shortly after the two left, a nearby car picked her up.
Back in her apartment, she took out two painkillers from a drawer and put them in her mouth.
As I drifted off to sleep, I heard the door open.
At first she thought she had misheard, until she heard the footsteps getting closer and closer.
My mind suddenly felt clear.
Supporting her limp body, she pulled a bottle of self-defense spray from a nearby drawer.
Just as Wen Jiu was about to lock the bedroom door, she heard the sound of the doorknob being pressed down first.
Her back suddenly tensed up.
Various home invasion robbery cases involuntarily flashed through my mind.
"Oh right, my phone," she realized, the pain slowing her reaction, and it was only now that she remembered to call the police.
Just as Wen Jiu was about to turn around to get her phone from the bed, the door was pushed open from the outside.
The lights from the living room followed and shone in.
When I saw the figure at the door, my tense nerves suddenly relaxed.
"Zhou Yanchuan."
She let out a pitiful cry.
Zhou Yanchuan's anxiety was soothed by those three words. He came here directly after finishing his last exam, originally wanting to give the girl a surprise, but he couldn't wait for her to contact him, so he couldn't help but call her, but no one answered.
Being alone in an unfamiliar city at night, he couldn't help but feel anxious.
Zhou Yanchuan went to the teahouse first, but when he heard that she had already finished get off work and gone home, he rushed back immediately.
I finally breathed a sigh of relief when I opened the door and saw the snow-covered shoes in the entryway cabinet.
Hearing Wen Jiu call him, he walked into the room, but before he could even ask a question, he stopped because she suddenly fell into his arms.
Zhou Yanchuan subconsciously raised his hand to hug her, but frowned when he touched her burning hot wrist.
Wen Jiu slept a very deep sleep. When she woke up again, her eyes squinted slightly because they were not used to the light from the small lamp by the bedside.
I spotted the boy sitting on the edge of the bed, asleep with his face propped up in his hands.
The hair on her forehead had grown a bit longer, partially obscuring her eyebrows and eyes. There were faint dark circles under her eyes, probably because she hadn't been getting enough rest lately.
I finally finished the exams, and before I could even rest, I took a bus here again.
She unconsciously reached out to touch his furrowed brows.
If possible, I wish time could slow down.

In the office, He Shixu was too lazy to listen to his father's long-winded speech and casually looked out the window.
The early cherry tree downstairs has already bloomed, its pink petals adorning the branches that haven't yet sprouted, like unmelted snow.
A slender figure came into view as the snow fell.
