Chapter 18 Zhou Yanchuan, did you take your medicine?

Chapter 18 Zhou Yanchuan, did you take your medicine?

"Aren't you afraid he'll get snatched up by another girl?"

Wen Jiu's gaze lingered on the message for a few seconds before she raised her finger.

"I'm scared."

She sent the message and got a reply right away.

"Are you worried you won't come along?"

There's also a "roaring" emoji at the end.

"Who are you messaging?" Ning Yixue couldn't help but ask, looking at the person who had been glued to their phone since leaving the house.

Lin Meng, afraid of being seen, immediately turned off the screen. However, she saw a new message from the girl before turning off the screen.

"Following him along wouldn't stop the girl from chasing after him."

"Where are you feeling unwell, classmate?" The woman in front of the medicine shelf glanced at the girl who had just entered, then turned and walked over.

"I have a slight cough."

"And then? Is there anything else?"

...

After leaving the infirmary, Wen Jiu did not take the main road with more people, but instead walked along the path behind the dormitory building.

She took her phone out of her pocket, tapped the pinned profile picture, and hesitated for a few seconds before slowly lowering her finger.

Are you sick?

She looked at the few words in the input field, pursed her lips, and then clicked delete one by one.

"I heard from a classmate that you... the day before yesterday..."

Wen Jiu's typing fingers paused at the top of the screen, and she pressed delete again.

As she struggled with what to say, her phone suddenly vibrated.

A question mark ("?") has appeared in the dialog box.

In the dim light, the girl's long eyelashes fluttered gently.

Wen Jiu raised her fingertip and tapped the screen twice.

Zhou Yanchuan chuckled as he looked at the "?" message that had also been sent from the other end, and then directly opened a screenshot and sent it over.

Wen Jiu's face flushed slightly as she looked at the screenshot showing "typing" from five minutes ago. Just then, another message popped up in the chat box.

"How many minutes has it been?"

She bit her lip slightly, and just as she was about to reply, a call notification suddenly popped up on her screen.

Wen Jiu was startled. After a few seconds, her fingertips trembled slightly as she tapped the answer button.

She didn't speak first.

A chuckle came from the other side.

"Haven't decided yet?"

"What?"

"If you want to tell me..."

She gripped her phone tightly: "Where are you now?"

"The playground," he replied lazily, "What's wrong?"

No wonder Wen Jiu always felt that the background noise on the other end of the phone was very chaotic.

"Then you..." She was only halfway through her sentence when a very sweet female voice suddenly came from the receiver.

"Zhou Yanchuan, I heard from a friend that you are sick, so I went to buy you some medicine."

Wen Jiu blinked, but suddenly couldn't say the words she was about to say.

Zhou Yanchuan couldn't hear the voice on the other end of the phone. He frowned slightly, put the phone away, and said "No need" to the girl who was approaching him in a very indifferent manner. Then he walked straight to the dark corner.

Where are they?

When he spoke again, his voice was noticeably gentler.

Wen Jiu said softly, "Yes."

Hearing what sounded like a primary school student answering a question, Zhou Yanchuan smiled and asked, "What were you about to say?"

Wen Jiu glanced down at the medicine in her hand, suppressing the bitterness in her heart, and said softly, "It's nothing."

Zhou Yanchuan could sense that the girl's emotions had changed, but he couldn't quite put his finger on what exactly had changed, and he unconsciously frowned.

Just as I was about to speak, a voice came from the receiver: "Go have fun, I'm hanging up now."

After he finished speaking, there was no sound.

Zhou Yanchuan put down his phone, and the screen showed his frowning face.

Chen Yu looked at the person walking towards him with a cold face and was about to ask, "What's wrong?"

He walked past him without even looking up.

?

As they entered the main road, more and more students passed by. Wen Jiu stood under a tree, looking at the boys' dormitory ahead, her eyes feeling a little sore.

She stood there for a while before turning around.

Just then, her phone started vibrating repeatedly in her palm.

Wen Jiu lowered her eyes and saw that it was a message from Lin Meng.

"Hey deskmate, Zhou Yanchuan is really on the playground!"

"A lot of women were crowding around him."

"Come quickly!"

Wen Jiu stared at the message on her phone screen, her brows furrowed with helplessness and bitterness.

She was just one of those girls who surrounded him; what use was the past?

The night wind was much cooler than during the day. Wen Jiu didn't go back to her dormitory immediately, but sat on a bench for a long time until her chest felt less stuffy before slowly getting up.

When she returned to her dormitory, there were hardly any people on the road.

As I passed a flower bed, I suddenly stopped in my tracks.

A person was standing under the broken street lamp not far away.

From this angle, Wen Jiu couldn't see the person's face clearly, but she had a strange premonition.

She gazed intently.

The person under the lamp seemed to have seen her too, and slowly walked out of the darkness.

It was Zhou Yanchuan.

The boy was tall and had long legs; he reached her side in just a few steps.

Wen Jiu was momentarily stunned, pausing for a second or two before asking, "What are you doing here?"

What do you think?

She unconsciously tightened her grip on the bag in her hand: "Wait for me?"

"Or maybe it's moon-gazing?"

"..."

Zhou Yanchuan glanced at the medicine she was carrying and frowned slightly: "Are you feeling unwell?"

"no."

"Then why buy so much medicine?"

Wen Jiu didn't speak.

Zhou Yanchuan looked at the person who was bowing her head and remaining silent. After a moment of silence, his gaze towards her changed slightly. "For me?"

She still didn't answer, but finally spoke, her voice very soft: "The doctor asked me if I had any other symptoms besides coughing."

"Hmm," Zhou Yanchuan went along with her, "What do you say?"

I said I didn't know.

Upon hearing this, Zhou Yanchuan seemed to see the girl in the infirmary, and a slight smile appeared on his lips.

"Then what?"

"Then I let her take some of everything."

“Let me see,” he said, reaching out his hand.

Wen Jiu remained motionless.

Even the usually impatient person wasn't in a hurry. He smiled and looked down at her, "Not for me?"

"no."

"Who did you buy it for?"

Wen Jiu remained silent.

Perhaps because of his cold, Zhou Yanchuan's mind was actually quite chaotic at the moment, but even in his confusion, he was still thinking about what was wrong with him.

"Is someone bullying you?" he asked seriously.

Wen Jiu shook her head.

"Then why aren't you happy?"

Wen Jiu's eyelashes fluttered.

It felt like the weight on my chest had been lifted, but I didn't realize it for a while because it had been there for so long. My chest felt a little sore and numb.

He's always like that.

Even though she tried her best to hide her feelings, it was no use.

Because he could always spot something was wrong with her immediately.

This gradually gave Wen Jiu a misconception, a feeling that she might have carefully hidden, but which he also secretly cherished.

The ginkgo trees beside me rustled in the wind, and the sound of chatting could be heard from the direction of the girls' dormitory from time to time.

The surroundings were chaotic, yet strangely, they created a sense of peace.

Wen Jiu raised her eyes: "Zhou Yanchuan."

"Mmm," he responded instinctively.

"Did you take your medicine?" she asked gently.

Zhou Yanchuan paused for a moment: "Don't change the subject."

Wen Jiu whispered, "It wasn't moved."

"Then why aren't you happy?"

"I'm not unhappy."

"You hung up on me, aren't you upset yet?"
