Chapter 21 Running towards her

Chapter 21 Running towards her

This was the first time Wen Jiu had ever seen someone so self-righteous about being a bad student, so she raised her hand and nudged him.

"What?" Zhou Yanchuan looked down at the hand that had landed on his waist and chuckled softly.

"You should go back now," she urged.

He wanted to say "It's nothing," but looking into her clear eyes, he knew she was genuinely afraid that he would be punished because of her.

Zhou Yanchuan looked at her slowly for a while, then stood up from his chair.

"Then I'll be back in a bit."

"Need not."

After the person left, Wen Jiu stayed in the infirmary for a while, still feeling somewhat worried.

She got out of bed and went to the playground.

Wen Jiu entered through the east gate and hadn't walked more than a few steps when she found a large group of students gathered in front of her.

There was a hint of confusion in her eyes; she didn't know what had happened.

Just as she was about to pass the group of people, a voice suddenly called out to her.

"My deskmate."

Wen Jiu looked up.

"Why did you come here?" Lin Meng thought she was seeing things, and ran over to take the girl's hand immediately. "Are you alright?"

"It doesn't hurt as much anymore," Wen Jiu said, glancing around. "Why are you all standing here?"

Lin Meng covered her mouth with her hand: "Zhou Yanchuan."

"Zhou Yanchuan?" Wen Jiu was confused.

“Hmm,” the girl nodded, then said, “He skipped morning training today. When he came back just now, the instructor asked him why he skipped, but he wouldn’t say.”

Wen Jiu was taken aback, then asked worriedly, "What about now?"

"Now I'm being punished by having to run five kilometers."

Wen Jiu's heart tightened.

Just then, a scream suddenly erupted from the left side.

"Brother Chuan is awesome!"

She was startled by this and looked at Lin Meng with some confusion.

As if guessing what she was thinking, Lin Meng whispered, "Besides Zhou Yanchuan, a few other students from other classes were also punished by running. Those students were almost too tired to run anymore, but Zhou Yanchuan was still acting like nothing happened. He was so cool."

Wen Jiu hadn't expected things to turn out this way.

Lin Meng pulled her arm and walked towards the crowd: "Quick, let's go take a look."

The sun at nine o'clock was already scorching hot on my skin, and the air was thick with heat.

There were four or five figures on the synthetic track, all staggering and walking with heavy steps.

That person, however, appeared as a flowing silhouette.

When swinging the arms, the shoulders and back create sharp, flowing lines, and the firm, smooth muscle lines bulge under the thin clothes.

He left the others on the track further and further behind.

Someone in the crowd asked, "Is Zhou Yanchuan doing the last lap?"

"It seems so."

"That's amazing, it didn't slow down at all."

Everyone's eyes were glued to him, but when he was only 200 meters from the finish line, his steps suddenly slowed down.

A commotion arose in the crowd: "Why did he slow down?"

Are you tired?

"Is he still sick?" a girl asked her friend anxiously.

Wen Jiu looked at the people on the track with concern, her heart clenching at the sounds around her.

Zhou Yanchuan originally just wanted to finish the race quickly and return to the infirmary, but he didn't expect to see the girl outside the track near the end.

He paused for a moment, then frowned.

When Wen Jiu saw the expression on his face, she assumed he was really feeling unwell, and her eyes became even more anxious.

Just then, a boy behind her said, "You must be tired by now. Running five kilometers like this is already quite impressive—"

The calm voice suddenly rose in pitch, "Holy crap!"

Wen Jiu stared blankly at the figure that suddenly accelerated on the track.

There was a two-second silence, followed by a burst of frantic screams.

Holy crap!

At first, Lu Fengyuan just watched from the side, but as he watched, he took out the stopwatch from his pocket.

"How much?" The instructor from another class next to him gestured with his eyes to the watch in his hand.

"The first 400 meters were not timed, and the rest took 14.01 seconds."

The man nodded in agreement: "This kid's got potential."

Seeing Zhou Yanchuan reach the finish line, the other instructors also rushed over.

How far?

The girls waiting outside the track rushed over with tissues and water as soon as he reached the finish line.

The crowd of onlookers couldn't help but shout and cheer, seemingly having forgotten that he was administering punishment.

"Brother Chuan is awesome!"

...

Wen Jiu gazed at the person not far away.

The surrounding noise was all caused by him, but his face showed little expression, remaining calm and indifferent, as if he didn't care about anything at all.

She suddenly remembered a sentence.

"Zhou Yanchuan's very existence is a focal point."

He doesn't care about the noise, nor does he need to.

Because when the crowd's gaze falls on him, they are looking up.

"He's so handsome," Lin Meng said, shaking Wen Jiu's arm and unable to resist swooning.

Wen Jiu gave a soft "hmm" but didn't look at him again.

Across the clamor of the crowd, all that could be seen from afar was ultimately just a faint phantom within that radiance.

She couldn't touch him.

It should also be beyond our reach.

Lin Meng didn't notice the girl's emotional changes. When she looked down and saw the bottle of water in her hand, she handed it to her without any hesitation.

"Go quickly, my deskmate."

Wen Jiu was caught off guard: "Go where?"

"Send water to Zhou Yanchuan; he'll definitely want it if you do."

Wen Jiu felt a little soft-hearted after understanding the girl's intention, but in the end she shook her head and said, "No."

Why?

Wen Jiu didn't explain why, she just shook her head again.

Lin Meng looked at the girl who refused and realized that her mood seemed a bit off.

She asked softly, "Are you overthinking things again?"

Wen Jiu's eyelashes fluttered.

"Actually," Lin Meng hadn't finished speaking when she suddenly saw someone running towards them. Her eyes lit up and her voice rose sharply: "My deskmate!"

Wen Jiu's arm was suddenly gripped tightly by the person next to her, and then she heard an excited voice: "Zhou Yanchuan seems to be coming this way!"

Her heart skipped a beat, and she turned her head away.

Before they knew it, the figure surrounded by people had already walked through the crowd and was walking towards them.

Wen Jiu stared blankly, as if the surrounding noise had faded away, leaving only Lin Meng's cries of "Oh my god, oh my god" in her ears.
