Chapter 45 My Deskmate, I'm Leaving First

Mengmeng: "Classmate, I've arrived."

"good"

Wen Jiu replied and got up to open the door.

As soon as the door opened, the girl couldn't help but ask, "Classmate, does Zhou Yanchuan live there?" She pointed to the door opposite her, her voice unconsciously lowering, "He lives there?"

"Um."

"What's the difference between this and living together!" the little girl exclaimed.

Hearing this, Wen Jiu blushed slightly, then remembered something and turned to go to the kitchen.

"Mengmeng, please sit down first, I'll be right out."

“Okay,” Lin Meng replied, sitting down on the sofa. She unconsciously began to observe her surroundings. The living room was large and spotless, but it felt unusually empty.

As she wondered what was going on, she saw the girl walk over with a cup of ginger tea, and her heart softened immediately: "Oh dear."

Lin Meng gently took the girl's arm and said coquettishly, "Whose deskmate is this? She's so nice."

Wen Jiu smiled and gently patted her: "Hurry up and drink something to warm up."

As soon as the two entered the bedroom, Lin Meng subconsciously stopped and murmured involuntarily, "So many books."

Her eyes looked around, and the space within her sight was almost entirely filled with books.

Books were everywhere – on the floor, on the bookshelves, on the bedside table – even on an empty shallow apricot flowerpot, there were two collections of essays with curled edges.

Lin Meng walked carefully into the room, afraid of bumping into any shelf. Even so, after taking only two steps, the hem of her clothes accidentally brushed against the edge of the bed, and a book fell to the ground with a clatter.

As she squatted down to pick it up, she paused for a moment, then asked, "My deskmate, you also have law books?"

I watched it when I was bored.

"Wow, that's amazing! You actually managed to watch it."

Lin Meng picked it up, wiped it gently with a tissue, and put it back on the bedside.

She had originally come to ask about Zhou Yanchuan, but now her attention was completely drawn to the girl's bedroom. It was like a room straight out of an anime, with a retro color scheme and solid wood furniture throughout.

Besides the book, there were many special little decorations. At this moment, there were three small white birds above her head, suspended by fishing line, as if floating in the air, and occasionally turning.

There was also a small wooden house hanging by the window, swaying back and forth, with bells jingling softly from time to time. On the table were various bottles and jars and peculiar ornaments, and in the corner was a potted plant, which looked like a Phalaenopsis orchid.

Lin Meng absolutely adores it; it's such a beautiful and stylish bedroom.

She studied the room for a long time before she remembered what she was there for.

“Hey, Zhou Yanchuan answered the phone when I called you yesterday. You have no idea how gentle his voice was when he spoke to you,” she said, linking her arm with the girl’s. “Tell me quickly, how far did you two get yesterday? Did you confess to him?”

"I," Wen Jiu's eyes flickered when faced with the sudden question. Before she could speak, those intimate details rushed into her mind once again.

"Zhou Yanchuan, why can't I hold onto him?"

"I'll take you to the person you have a crush on."

"Here, take this."

"Zhou Yanchuan, I'm thirsty."

"Zhou Yanchuan, why are my clothes tangled?"

"Zhou Yanchuan..."

Thinking about all this, Wen Jiu's fingers went limp.

Yesterday, she not only held Zhou Yanchuan's hand, but held it for so long. She even said so many outrageous things and did so many excessive things.

All I could think about was her calling "Zhou Yanchuan".

When she woke up at his house this morning, she didn't dare call out to him. She secretly ran back to her own house, then muted his messages and didn't dare look at her phone again.

As Wen Jiu was leaving, she made eye contact with the little dog in the cage in the living room. The little guy stared at her with its round eyes, as if to say, "Human, why did you run away?"

She originally intended to sneak it away as well, but as soon as her hand touched the cage, she heard the door to the bedroom inside open. Forget about stealing the dog, she turned around and ran away.

*

"My deskmate."

"My deskmate."

Lin Meng called her name several times before Wen Jiu finally snapped out of her thoughts. When she looked up, she saw the girl's meaningful gaze.

"What are you thinking about? Your face is so red!"

"Well," Wen Jiu said, embarrassed but not wanting to lie to the girl, "I feel like Zhou Yanchuan seems to have noticed something."

"Huh?" The girl's big eyes suddenly lit up. "What did you do?"

I gave him a leaf.

"It was discovered so quickly?"

I said it was a star that was given to him.

"And then?" Lin Meng had a premonition, and the corners of her mouth were already starting to turn up uncontrollably.

“Then he said he didn’t want it and asked me to give it to the person he had a crush on,” Wen Jiu paused, her hand unconsciously clutching the hem of her clothes, “and said I would give it to you.”

"Aaaaaaah!"

Lin Meng was so happy she almost jumped up on her feet. "You really said that?"

Wen Jiu nodded.

"Oh my god!" Her face flushed with excitement, she couldn't wait to know what happened next. "And then what?"

"Then he asked me if I knew who he was?" As Wen Jiu said this, Zhou Yanchuan's gaze at her was still vivid in her mind. His eyes were so deep; he must have sensed that something was wrong.

"Did you say no?" Lin Meng felt like she had knocked herself unconscious, her hands gripping the girl's arm tightly.

Wen Jiu shook her head.

"Oh dear," those two short words were full of regret.

"Classmate," Lin Meng couldn't help but persuade, "why don't you take this opportunity to tell Zhou Yanchuan? I really feel that he treats you quite differently."

She still remembers what he said to the girl on the phone yesterday: "I'm asking you."

That voice, I absolutely adore it.

After Lin Meng finished speaking, she looked at the girl who was obviously very worried and gently patted her forehead: "How much do you like him? You become a coward as soon as you meet him."

Wen Jiu lowered her head and remained silent. She didn't know how much she liked him, but the thought of possibly losing him made her feel terrible.

Seeing this, Lin Meng sighed softly: "Then what are we going to do next? We can't just keep avoiding him, can we?"

Yes, we can't keep hiding forever.

*

In the evening, when Wen Jiu saw Lin Meng off, she bumped into Zhou Yanchuan, who was leaving the house, as soon as she opened the door.

The girl gently touched his waist, and before she could speak, he heard her say, "No need to see me off, classmate, I'm leaving now."

Before she could react, he dashed into the elevator.
