Chapter 8 Alright, I won't bully you anymore.
Wen Jiu's heart skipped a beat, and she subconsciously turned around.
Zhou Yanchuan was looking at her. When their eyes met, he raised an eyebrow slightly. "Class monitor, have I ever offended you?"
Wen Jiu heard the girl beside him take a deep breath because of his sudden words, and clench her fingertips: "No."
"Then why are you so cold to me?"
"No."
"No?" he asked in return.
Wen Jiu was getting a little anxious. The increasing questions made it almost impossible for her to maintain her calm expression, and she could only manage a small "Mm".
"I feel like..."
With Zhou Yanchuan pressing closer and closer, Wen Jiu could feel more and more eyes on them from all around.
She gripped the hem of her dress even tighter.
I couldn't resist in the end—
"Zhou Yanchuan."
She spoke, her tone a little urgent, afraid he might say something offensive, and looked straight at him.
Zhou Yanchuan stopped speaking, and after a few seconds, he curved the corners of his lips into a smile.
"Alright, I won't tease you anymore."
Wen Jiu turned around with a sigh of relief.
Lin Meng, standing to the side, was completely dumbfounded.
Su Shun was the same.
Unable to resist asking, "Brother Chuan, you wouldn't actually be interested in that girl, would you?"
Zhou Yanchuan didn't answer, but the interest he had just shown was long gone from his eyes. Recalling how the girl had tried so hard to distance herself from him, he felt inexplicably irritated.
He put on his headphones, looking completely detached from the world.
Su Shun scratched his head: "What did he say wrong?"
Lin Meng had been silent for a while, then asked, "Classmate, are you really not familiar with each other?"
Wen Jiu was still thinking about what had just happened, and it took her several seconds to remember to answer.
"Um."
“But,” Lin Meng had a feeling she couldn’t quite put her finger on.
The things Zhou Yanchuan just said, and the way he looked at her.
Everything was noticeably different from usual.
But she couldn't quite put her finger on what was different.
And these two people.
Lin Meng glanced at the girl beside her again.
At that moment, a beam of light shone in through the window and fell around her.
That lowered face was pale and serene.
Too.
How could such a quiet and well-behaved girl be related to Zhou Yanchuan?
*
The carriage was noisy for the first half of the journey to the campsite, with people sharing snacks and chatting. But in the second half, you had to hesitate for a while just to turn over in your seat.
They were afraid of making any noise.
Wen Jiu had just taken out her earphones from her bag and put them on when a message popped up at the top of her phone screen.
"Reach out your hand"
Looking at those two words, she blinked gently, and for some reason was suddenly asked to reach out.
Although she didn't understand, she still obeyed and sat down in the chair, slowly extending one of her hands.
As soon as Wen Jiu posted the photo of "reaching out", two new messages popped up on the screen.
"Fool"
"Then..."
She then turned around, as if remembering something.
Zhou Yanchuan raised his eyebrows slightly and gestured to her hand with his eyes.
She did as instructed and suddenly felt as if something had been placed in her palm.
When I took it back, my eyes reflected a box of grape-flavored candies.
Looking at the box of candy in her palm, Wen Jiu seemed to hear her own heartbeat become clear in the quiet carriage. It wasn't the kind of frantic, heart-pounding thumping that comes with a sudden, gentle beat.
Wen Jiu took out a few pills from inside, and left the rest for the sleeping girl beside her.
More than three hours later, the bus arrived at the training base.
The group of people who woke up from their sleep had clear, bewildered eyes that seemed to say, "Where am I?"
When Wen Jiu and Lin Meng got out of the car, there were already many students from other classes standing around them.
Lu Fengyuan looked around and finally fixed his gaze on Wen Jiu, who was standing to the side.
"Has everyone come down?"
"They're down."
“Alright,” having received a definite answer, he turned his gaze back to the group and said in a deep voice, “Instructors will take you to your dormitories in the building ahead. All you need to do is pack your things properly, keep what you should keep and leave what you shouldn’t.”
He raised his voice, his gaze sweeping over the few people who were talking in hushed tones: "Hand it all over."
"ah."
Exclamations of surprise began to rise from the crowd.
Do I need to hand in my phone?
Do snacks count?
"I don't think we need snacks."
"What about cosmetics?"
...
Lu Fengyuan didn't answer, but instead looked down at the stopwatch in his hand.
"You have twenty minutes."
The group of people in front of them hadn't recovered from their previous state of curiosity and were looking at each other, wondering what was going on.
Then the man said again, "You have nineteen minutes left."
"I'm really impressed," one student said, grabbing his friend and rushing into the building.
Seeing people running, even if some students didn't realize the situation, they instinctively followed suit.
The entire square was thrown into chaos.
Just as Wen Jiu was about to leave with her suitcase, Lu Fengyuan called her back.
"classmate."
She stopped in her tracks.
"What's your name?" the man asked.
"Wen Jiu."
“Wen Jiu,” Lu Fengyuan repeated, then said, “You’ll be in charge of our class collecting contraband in a bit.”
"good."
*
"They didn't say what can be kept and what can't be kept, so how am I supposed to know what I need to hand over?"
The girl in the bed next to Wen Jiu was dressed very elegantly and was currently angrily throwing things out of her suitcase.
"It's so annoying. They tidy up but then don't say anything."
Compared to her, Wen Jiu seemed unusually quiet.
"My goodness, you're still carrying books here?"
The girl's eyes widened in disbelief when she saw the books in her suitcase.
Wen Jiu raised her eyes, saw that the person was just expressing their feelings and had no ill intentions, and gave a faint "hmm".
Ning Yixue was just assigned to this class this semester. All her good friends were in other classes, and she hadn't met anyone here yet.
Seeing that the girl was talking to him, he asked again, "Did the instructor tell you what to collect?"
Wen Jiu shook her head.
"So what did he say?"
"Send them to collect contraband."
"Going to collect contraband? Do they go to the boys' place too? Wouldn't that also allow them to see what Zhou Yanchuan brought?"
The girl asked several questions in a row, and Wen Jiu stopped packing her things.
I don't know if it was her unconventional thinking that influenced me, or the later part about Zhou Yanchuan.
"I have no idea."
“Okay,” the girl pursed her lips, then suddenly remembered something and asked, “By the way, your name is Wen Jiu, right?”
"Um."
"I am Ning Yixue."
“I know,” she said softly.
The girl's eyes lit up with joy: "Am I that famous?"
Wen Jiu blinked and pointed to the door.
"There."
What happened there?
Ning Yixue followed her gaze, when suddenly a voice rang in her ears: "It's written there."
