Chapter 60 Rejecting the Invitation

Chapter 60 Rejecting the Invitation

The gossip in the industry wouldn't reach Zhou Zhiwei's ears.

Because he has status, he has people protecting him.

But if those words were spoken to her, they would be enough to crush her.

Zhou Zhiwei stared at her silently for a very long time.

He tried to speak, but found that his throat felt blocked by something.

Suddenly, the corners of his mouth turned up, and he smiled.

He said nothing more, turned around and strode out of the hall.

Mo Huaizhi looked at Song Zhiwei, then at Zhou Zhiwei who was walking away.

He hesitated for a moment, but ultimately couldn't bear to see Zhou Zhiwei walk alone.

"Neither of you is easy to deal with."

After saying that, he turned around and quickly chased after Zhou Zhiwei.

The hall fell silent immediately.

Sheng Tingzhou slowly walked up to her.

"What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

Song Zhiwei raised her eyes and stared at him without flinching.

"Besides being sarcastic, can't you say something nice? Can't you stop treating me with this condescending attitude all the time?"

Watching Zhou Zhiwei's departing figure, she couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness in her heart.

Seeing that she was genuinely unhappy, Sheng Tingzhou was slightly taken aback.

He immediately dropped the mocking expression on his face, changed his tone, and lowered his voice.

"You're really something, not afraid of offending me at all in front of so many people."

Song Zhiwei paused for a moment, her brows furrowing slightly.

Seeing this, he naturally reached out and put his hand on her shoulder.

"You weren't this bold before. If I glared at you even slightly, you would have hidden behind your uncle long ago. How could you dare to talk back to me to my face, let alone stand up for others?"

She frowned slightly, her voice indifferent.

People change. So much time has passed, who can stay in the same place forever?

"Yes, that's right."

He chuckled softly, a hint of languor in his eyes.

"That's quite interesting. Come on, help me back, my body isn't cooperating right now."

Song Zhiwei was swayed a little by his leaning against her, and her body tilted to one side, almost losing her balance.

When she arrived at her doorstep, Song Zhiwei took out her phone and entered a string of numbers into the door lock panel.

Sheng Tingzhou didn't back away. Instead, he slightly turned to her side, raised his hand, and entered his password on the panel.

With two crisp "clicks," the door opened.

Just as she was about to step inside, a voice suddenly came from behind her.

"good evening."

She was suddenly startled, frozen in place, and it took her a full two seconds to react before slowly turning her head back.

The dim light in the hallway shone on his face.

She opened her mouth, but in the end she just nodded slightly.

——

The next day was Saturday.

She slept until the sun was high in the sky, and even the alarm clock couldn't wake her from her dream.

Around 11 o'clock, there were several rhythmic knocks on the door.

She struggled to get out of bed, her hair disheveled and her eyes still heavy with sleep, and shuffled to the door in her slippers.

It really was Sheng Tingzhou.

The man stood outside the door, wearing a high-quality gray silk nightgown with the neckline slightly open.

He slowly stepped into the house.

"What's for lunch, little assistant? I'm starving."

She turned and slowly walked towards the kitchen.

The kitchen was brightly lit, with sunlight streaming in from the window reflecting off the tiles.

She reached into the refrigerator and took out a bottle of mineral water that was still dripping with water.

After closing the refrigerator door, she walked back with the water bottle in her hand.

She handed the water to Sheng Tingzhou, her fingertips slightly cool.

"I haven't decided yet. I'll go check out the supermarket downstairs later."

"Okay, I'll go with you."

Sheng Tingzhou took the water bottle.

He unscrewed the bottle cap, his Adam's apple bobbing slightly, and took a small sip.

This attitude startled Song Zhiwei slightly, and her heart felt as if it had been gently bumped.

She stared at him blankly, her fingers unconsciously twisting the hem of her clothes.

For a moment, a kind of illusion appeared in my mind.

It seemed as if they had been living together for a long time.

The moment the thought crossed her mind, she realized something was wrong and immediately shook her head violently.

She blinked hard, forcing herself to calm down.

"I'll change my clothes and come down right away."

She finished speaking in a low voice, her tone somewhat flustered.

After saying that, she hurriedly ran into the room, closing the door behind her.

Sheng Tingzhou stared silently at the closed door for a few seconds before a slow smile appeared on his lips.

He looked down at the water bottle in his hand.

Then tighten it again and gently place it on the coffee table.

The phone that was lying next to me suddenly rang.

He glanced down and saw the content on the screen the instant it lit up.

In an instant, the gentleness on his face vanished, his eyes darkened, and his expression suddenly turned cold.

When Song Zhiwei came out of the room after changing her clothes, she was wearing a light gray loose sweatshirt, paired with dark casual pants, and her hair was simply tied into a low ponytail.

She walked briskly into the living room, a relaxed smile on her face.

But when she looked up and saw Sheng Tingzhou's appearance, her smile froze on her lips.

The man was sitting on the sofa with his arms crossed over his chest and his back straight.

She paused for a moment, her brow furrowing slightly, and asked in bewilderment, "Didn't we agree to go to the supermarket? Why haven't you changed your clothes yet? I'm all ready."

Sheng Tingzhou glanced at her indifferently and said in a sarcastic tone, "Why are you going to the supermarket? Weren't you going skiing with another man? What, now you want me to carry your bags?"

Song Zhiwei paused for a few seconds before realizing what he was saying.

She suddenly remembered that He Yufeng had indeed sent her a message last night.

Ask her if she's free this weekend and if she wants to go skiing together.

During one of their previous meetings, He Yufeng casually mentioned that he was quite good at skiing and could teach her.

At that time, she had just turned down a dinner invitation and felt a little apologetic. She was too embarrassed to refuse again, so she casually agreed.

But she never expected that Sheng Tingzhou would actually go through her phone.

She frowned, took a few steps forward, and casually grabbed her phone from the sofa.

He Yufeng's message popped up clearly.

[Zhiwei, how about we have lunch together and then go skiing this afternoon?]

"What? You're planning to agree to his offer and then kick me out?"

Sheng Tingzhou spoke coldly.

Song Zhiwei glanced at the message and her brows furrowed even more.

She pursed her lips and explained in a low voice.

"I did not mean that."

"So you're planning to reject him?"

An invisible pressure permeated the air.

She pursed her lips, pressing the corners of her lips down slightly, a hint of struggle flashing in her eyes.

After hesitating for a moment, she finally lowered her head and slowly typed a line of text on the phone screen.

Sorry, it might not be convenient for me today.

He Yufeng replied quickly, almost instantly: [How about tomorrow? Are you free tomorrow?]

Song Zhiwei looked down at the man sitting on the sofa.

Sheng Tingzhou was sitting with his legs crossed, one hand resting on the armrest of the sofa, his gaze fixed on the television, his expression indifferent.

Looking at his nonchalant attitude, she felt a lump in her throat.

After hesitating for a long time, my finger hovering over the send button repeatedly, I finally pressed it and replied: "I'm afraid tomorrow won't work either."
