Chapter 30 Let Nature Take Its Course

Chapter 30 Let Nature Take Its Course

She hurriedly looked away, her cheeks slightly flushed.

To cover up her embarrassment, she pretended to be calm and said...

"No, I was just checking if you'd put it in the wrong place."

Sheng Tingzhou took a half step back, leaned slightly forward, and casually put his hands into his pockets.

His posture was languid yet elegant.

"Please check it out, Miss Song."

Song Zhiwei was taken aback, but immediately realized what was happening.

"Yes, I saw it. It's not bad."

As soon as she finished speaking, she quickly turned around.

Sheng Tingzhou turned off the dishwasher with a swift and efficient motion.

Song Zhiwei had already tidied up the table and folded the last rag, putting it back in its place.

She glanced at her watch; it was still early, so she followed him out of the kitchen.

The corridor was softly lit, and the two people's footsteps mingled gently.

Suddenly remembering something, she took out the black card that Madam Sheng had given her from her bag and handed it to Sheng Tingzhou.

"President Sheng, you should keep this."

Although it's just an act to appease the elders, keeping this card isn't really appropriate.

The card felt heavy in my hand; it was more than just a card—it was a symbol of crossing a line.

Sheng Tingzhou glanced at the thing she handed him and then took it back.

His tone was indifferent.

"Keep it."

His voice was as calm as if he were talking about something insignificant.

This surprised Song Zhiwei.

"ah?"

She opened her eyes wide.

This card is clearly a token from the Sheng family to their "future daughter-in-law".

It doesn't seem appropriate for one of my assistants to hold it.

Just as Song Zhiwei was about to refuse, she heard the man say in a low voice.

"I have nowhere to use it, so I'll keep it with you for now. When I have a girlfriend in the future, you can give it to her."

"Okay, then."

She hesitated for a moment, but ultimately put the card back into her bag.

Since I'm just an assistant, it's not like I'm overstepping my bounds to keep some things for my boss.

"I'll give it to you when you actually have a girlfriend."

Sheng Tingzhou's gaze fell on her face, his eyes deep and unfathomable.

It was as if he was carefully depicting her expression.

A moment later, he raised the corner of his mouth slightly and said something.

"good."

...

Before you know it, the weekend is over.

The city's morning bustle returns, and traffic crawls slowly along the streets.

Song Zhiwei was awakened by the alarm clock, its shrill ringing echoing repeatedly in the quiet room.

She struggled to crawl out of bed.

The moment the quilt was pulled back, cold air immediately enveloped the body.

It made her shiver involuntarily.

Winters in Yancheng are too cold, so she never turns on the heating at night to save money.

Put on your clothes, slip on your down jacket, and zip it all the way up.

The scarf was wrapped around her neck in circles.

As soon as she opened the door with her bag, a gust of cold wind hit her, making her squint.

Just as she bent down to adjust the straps of her backpack, the door opposite her opened with a "whoosh".

Sheng Tingzhou came out.

The two looked at each other at the same time.

Their eyes met briefly in the air, and the air seemed to freeze for a second.

The man was dressed in a black suit, well-tailored and with clean lines.

The top button was fastened meticulously, and the tie was neatly and securely tied.

Even the white shirt peeking out from the cuffs was spotless.

She looked like she had just stepped off the cover of a fashion magazine.

He exuded an aura of asceticism and coldness.

Inside the elevator, Song Zhiwei stood somewhat awkwardly in the corner, looking down at the tips of her shoes.

She cleared her throat, her voice very low.

He squeezed out a sentence, barely audible, like a mosquito's hum.

"Good morning, Mr. Sheng."

Sheng Tingzhou glanced at her, his expression unchanged.

He raised his hand and lightly lifted his sleeve, glancing slowly at his watch.

"It's 8:40 now, and I still have 20 minutes before I have to go to work."

His tone was calm and even.

"Um."

Song Zhiwan responded, completely bewildered.

"You're going out so late, did you deliberately want to run into me?"

Upon hearing this, Song Zhiwei's mind went blank, as if she had been hit hard with a stick.

She hurriedly shook her head, forcing a dry smile at the corners of her mouth.

He explained, his tone slightly embarrassed.

"President Sheng, watching too many idol dramas is bad for your brain. Who would wait for the elevator early in the morning to bump into their boss? I'm not looking for trouble."

Sheng Tingzhou's expressionless face paused slightly after hearing her slightly sarcastic remark.

His eyes flashed, and he suddenly chuckled softly.

That smile was neither mocking nor contemptuous.

It was as if something had piqued their interest, and they seemed to feel a sense of pleasure.

The elevator arrived at the first floor, and the doors slowly opened to both sides.

The morning breeze, carrying a damp and chilly scent, swept over Song Zhiwei, who instinctively shrank her neck.

She put her hands in her coat pockets, took a step, and walked towards the bus stop.

I had only taken a few steps when a car slowly drove past me.

The car window rolled down silently, revealing Sheng Tingzhou's sharply defined face.

He had one hand on the steering wheel, his gaze fixed on her.

"Want me a ride, little penguin?"

A slight smile played at the corners of his lips, and a mischievous glint flashed in his eyes.

Song Zhiwei paused for a second, then realized what was happening.

He was laughing at her for hunching over, all bundled up, looking like a chubby penguin.

She rolled her eyes inwardly, almost blurting out, "Who's the penguin!"

Looking up at the electronic screen at the bus stop, I saw that it was almost nine o'clock.

If we dawdle any longer, we'll be late.

She took a deep breath, and in the end, reason prevailed over pride.

He gritted his teeth, strode over, opened the car door, and nimbly sat in the passenger seat.

She kept her head down, her voice so soft it was almost like she was talking to herself.

"Thanks."

Sheng Tingzhou clicked his tongue lightly, a slight smile playing on his lips.

"A very polite little penguin."

Song Zhiwei clenched her fists silently.

But since she was sitting in someone else's car, with such a large disparity in status, the situation was awkward, and she could only swallow her anger.

Pretending not to hear the "little penguin," I kept my eyes fixed on the road ahead.

Ten minutes later, the car smoothly drove into the company's underground parking garage.

Song Zhiwei pushed open the car door and stepped towards the elevator.

Before I had taken more than a few steps, someone walked towards me, suddenly stopped, and stared wide-eyed.

His gaze was fixed on her, sweeping over her like a searchlight.

Song Zhiwei looked up following that gaze and her heart skipped a beat.

Oh no, of all times she had to see it.

The person in front of me is Xu Xiaoting.

Her workstation was right next to Song Zhiwei's, and they usually had a fairly good relationship.

Song Zhiwei forced a smile and nodded stiffly as a greeting.

Xu Xiaoting followed closely behind her, her steps light and quick.

His tone was full of curiosity.

"Zhiwei, did you come with President Sheng?"

"No, you've mistaken me for someone else."

Song Zhiwei chuckled awkwardly.

Xu Xiaoting looked puzzled.

She had seen that car several times.

The silver-gray Bentley, with license plate ending in 888, is the exclusive vehicle of President Sheng in the company.

How could I possibly admit my mistake?

As Song Zhiwei walked forward, her mind raced.

Weighing how much of the truth to tell.

Finally, she smiled slightly and replied, half-jokingly.
