Chapter 31 Collapse
"I was almost late this morning. I saw that I had to wait 20 minutes for the next bus, so I rushed to the bus stop to wait for the bus. As soon as I stood still, Mr. Sheng's car drove up from the side."
"He just let you get on the bus like that?"
Xu Xiaoting opened her eyes wide, still stunned.
Normally, President Sheng has a cold face, walks with a swagger, and has eyes that can freeze you to death.
Why would you casually let your subordinates hitch a ride?
This is absolutely incredible!
Song Zhiwei deliberately lowered her voice, a mysterious smile appearing on her face.
To exaggerate...
“Really! I was clinging to the car window, begging him to give me a ride, I was almost crying. He frowned at me for two seconds and coldly said, ‘Get in.’”
Xu Xiaoting's eyes widened after hearing this, and it took her a long time to recover.
She silently gave a thumbs up, her face full of admiration.
"Zhiwei, you're so daring! You're incredibly skilled and bold. Just thinking about that scene makes my legs go weak."
The two entered the elevator one after the other.
The metal door slowly closed, emitting a soft "beep" sound.
Just as it was about to close, hurried footsteps suddenly came from outside.
"etc!"
A deep male voice rang out.
bite!
The elevator doors reopened immediately.
A man strode in.
He had broad shoulders and long legs, and his tie was perfectly tied.
His features were cold and stern, and his whole being exuded an aura that made him unapproachable.
Xu Xiaoting held her breath instantly and greeted him in a low voice.
"Hello... Boss."
Sheng Tingzhou turned his head slightly and glanced at her indifferently.
He then nodded slightly in response.
Song Zhiwei stood in the corner of the elevator and glanced at the man in front of her.
His voice was steady, but lowered slightly.
"President Sheng."
Sheng Tingzhou didn't look at her, but glanced down at his watch, his tone as calm as still water.
"In a moment, bring the files you've compiled and come to my office."
Song Zhiwei's heart tightened.
He didn't speak, but simply nodded slightly.
...
About ten minutes later, she arrived at Sheng Tingzhou's office with a thick stack of documents in her arms.
The materials included the translation task Qin Yi had given her last week.
There are also several draft contracts that have not yet been filed.
She took a deep breath, raised her hand, and gently knocked on the door three times with her knuckles.
"Enter."
A deep, cold male voice came from inside.
As soon as Song Zhiwei stepped into the office, she felt a suffocating atmosphere.
The man was sitting behind a large desk, with his back to the floor-to-ceiling window.
A ray of morning light slanted across his shoulder, but it did nothing to diminish his aloof and stern aura.
"President Sheng."
Song Zhiwei stood at the door, her posture respectful.
Sheng Tingzhou glanced at the documents in her arms and uttered two words indifferently.
"Come in."
She gently placed the file on the desk.
He said it with a serious expression.
"These are the case materials I compiled last week, as well as translations of several foreign-related cases. I have checked them all to make sure nothing is missing and everything is complete."
Upon hearing this, Sheng Tingzhou didn't even raise his head; he simply reached out and pulled out a document from the stack.
He then lowered his eyes and began to turn the pages one by one.
Song Zhiwei stood quietly by the table, her back ramrod straight.
But the turmoil in his heart was already surging endlessly.
Her gaze inadvertently swept over the hand holding the documents in Sheng Tingzhou's hand.
It was an exceptionally beautiful hand.
The fingers are long and slender, with distinct knuckles.
The skin has a cool-toned whiteness that appears almost transparent under light.
The bluish veins were clearly visible, winding their way down the back of the hand.
Ultimately, it disappeared into the cuffs of his black suit.
Sheng Tingzhou finished flipping through the documents in his hand and gently closed them.
"It's alright. But it's not detailed enough; the details need further polishing. Have Qin Yi send over another hundred copies later, and you can take your time working on them."
"ah?"
Song Zhiwei's face was filled with disbelief.
One hundred portions?
A total of one hundred case files?
Even if she worked overtime, without sleep or rest, for a whole month.
It's doubtful that all of it can be dealt with.
This is a quantity that cannot be resolved simply by "taking it slow".
She bit her lip and asked hesitantly.
"President Sheng, isn't this workload a bit too much? I already have three cases to follow up on. If we add another hundred, it might affect the overall progress."
Sheng Tingzhou leaned back slightly, raised his eyes, and looked at her face.
A faint hint of amusement flickered in his eyes.
"Then you should beg me while clinging to my leg, and maybe I'll be in a good mood and cut you in half."
Song Zhiwei's head buzzed, as if she had been struck by lightning.
His entire face instantly turned bright red.
She suddenly remembered what she and Xu Xiaoting had said in hushed tones a few minutes earlier in the underground parking garage.
"If he continues to exploit me like this, I will... I will quit!"
"Why don't you go and seduce him? He's single anyway, and you're not bad looking."
"I'm not going! Who wants to suck up to him? It's disgusting!"
He heard everything?
He did it on purpose?!
She forced an awkward smile, her voice hoarse.
"President Sheng, this...this isn't appropriate, is it? We have a superior-subordinate relationship, and there should be a limit to jokes."
Sheng Tingzhou chuckled softly, his eyes still deep and unfathomable.
"Just kidding, why are you so nervous?"
Song Zhiwei choked.
Sheng Tingzhou's smile faded, and his tone returned to its usual coldness.
"Take these next two days to finish the cases you're currently handling and make sure every detail is correct. If you encounter any problems, feel free to ask me directly; don't try to figure it out yourself."
"Okay, thank you, Mr. Sheng."
Song Zhiwei nodded quickly.
He then turned and walked towards the door, his steps steady yet hurried.
She returned to her workstation, spread the divorce case documents out on the table, and carefully turned to the first page.
This is a typical case of marital property dispute.
The parties involved had a substantial amount of personal savings before marriage.
After marriage, she used part of the funds to invest in and establish a technology company, and served as its legal representative.
Now that their marriage has broken down, they are preparing for a divorce.
The spouse claimed that the company was marital property and demanded that it be divided equally among the shareholders according to law.
The parties involved strongly objected, arguing that the funds came entirely from their premarital personal property.
Therefore, they refuse any form of property division.
The case has entered the court hearing stage.
The controversy centers on the legal question of whether premarital property invested after marriage becomes joint property.
After carefully reading the case file summary, Song Zhiwei flipped through several pages of evidence materials.
His brows furrowed slightly.
She picked up her phone and dialed the number of the person involved.
"Hello Mr. Chen, this is Attorney Song Zhiwei. Regarding your divorce case, there are some details that need to be verified in person. If it's convenient for you, would you like to meet at the coffee shop downstairs from your office today?"
A polite response came from the other end of the phone.
“Of course, Attorney Song, I happen to be nearby and will be there in twenty minutes.”
After hanging up the phone, Song Zhiwei tidied up the documents.
Grab your pen and notebook, and go downstairs to wait.
Less than twenty minutes later, a middle-aged man appeared at the coffee shop entrance right on time.
