Chapter 52 Get out!

Chapter 52 Get out!

Xu Jialan gripped her phone tighter and tighter, her teeth aching from clenching them.

"What happened?" Xu Yan asked.

When did she tell you she wanted to go back?

“On Monday, he told me something and then left. What, didn’t you know?”

Xu Jialan's voice was filled with suppressed frustration, "I don't know."

"What exactly happened?"

Xu Jialan was too lazy to say anything more to him and hung up the phone directly.

The landlady was still inspecting the house when Xu Jialan looked around.

She moved out very cleanly; she didn't leave any of her things behind, as if she had never lived there at all.

Just then, the landlady's voice came over, "Did she forget to take this box with her?"

Upon hearing this, Xu Jialan went over to check.

It was a wedding favor box from Xu Qingbang's wedding.

He opened the box; the contents were untouched and neatly arranged inside.

"Is this hers?"

"yes."

"She probably forgot to take it with her. You can keep it for her."

Xu Jialan remained silent.

The landlord turned and went upstairs, then reappeared at the stairwell a moment later. "It seems she left a few clothes here too."

Xu Jialan turned around and went upstairs, standing in front of the wardrobe.

Three dresses, all gifts from him, hung neatly in the wardrobe.

Xu Jialan was furious. She didn't take a single thing he gave her. How dare he!

He slammed the wardrobe door shut, startling the landlady. She felt a pang of sympathy and said, "Be gentle!"

They really don't know how to cherish things that aren't their own.

"You don't need any of these things. You can decide what to do with them yourself."

After saying that, he turned around and went downstairs, leaving the apartment building without stopping.

Xu Yan, who had been hung up on, had no idea what had happened, so he decided to go to Xu Jialan's place that night to see what was going on.

Before he could even make a call, Xu Jialan's call came in first.

"Want to grab a drink tonight?" Xu Jialan's voice sounded very calm.

Xu Yan raised an eyebrow. "Okay."

"But did Chen Yao'an really not tell you about going back?"

"He didn't say." His voice was as usual.

Xu Yan stroked his chin, thinking, "This shouldn't be happening. This person hasn't reacted at all." He said, "See you tonight."

At night, at the bar.

Xu Yan asked him, "What exactly is going on between you and Chen Yao'an?"

Xu Jialan said impatiently, "You're asking me? Who am I supposed to ask?"

"No, she really didn't tell you when she went back?"

He couldn't stand hearing that sentence anymore, slamming his glass on the table. "Can you please stop repeating it? I'm sick of hearing it."

Xu Jialan was clearly in a bad mood, and Xu Yan didn't dare to touch that sensitive nerve again. "Come on, let's drink."

After a few rounds of drinks, both men were clearly a little drunk. Xu Yan, however, was still thinking about Chen Yao'an. He hadn't dared to ask before, but now, under the influence of alcohol, he had regained his courage.

"By the way, why did Chen Yao'an leave without saying a word?"

Xu Jialan lay back on the sofa, staring at the ceiling with a blank look in her eyes. "I don't know either. If you're asking me, who am I supposed to ask?"

"That's really strange."

"However, if you want to know, why don't you just go and ask them?"

Xu Jialan objected, becoming agitated, "Who the hell wants to know!"

"She's just a woman. I, Xu Jialan, am never short of women. She's nothing special and not worth my attention."

Xu Yan chuckled, "You're right."

After saying that, he realized something was wrong. "No, you still treat her very specially. I don't believe you don't care."

Xu Jialan sneered, "Special? In my eyes, everyone is special."

As soon as he finished speaking, two maturely dressed women approached him and said, "Hey handsome guys, want to have a drink together?"

“Okay,” Xu Jialan replied first.

The woman who had just asked the question sat down next to him. "My name is Cheng Yao. What's your name, handsome?"

Xu Jialan paused for a moment, then laughed teasingly, "Your name also has the character 'Yao' in it."

Cheng Yao didn't understand. "What's wrong with the character 'Yao'?"

"You still haven't told me your name."

"My name is Xu Jialan."

Xu Yan gestured for another woman to sit next to him. She laughed when she heard his words and said she didn't care, that someone with the same character in their name was making such a big reaction.

After a few drinks, the group gradually became acquainted.

Cheng Yao decided not to hide anything and sat closer and closer to Xu Jialan, even climbing onto his arm.

He glanced at it but did not refuse.

Seeing this, Cheng Yao took another step forward tentatively, and in the end the two were almost touching.

Seeing that it was getting late and they had almost finished drinking, Cheng Yao leaned close to Xu Jialan's ear, covered it with her hand, and whispered, "Where are we going later?"

Amidst the whispered conversation, an ambiguous atmosphere lingered.

Xu Jialan turned her head and gave a nonchalant look, replying, "Of course, I'll go home."

"How about I go back with you later?" she whispered.

He smiled slightly but didn't say anything, which Cheng Yao took as his tacit agreement.

When the party ended, Xu Jialan was a little drunk. Cheng Yao supported him, and he put his arm around her shoulder and waved to Xu Yan.

"They're gone."

Xu Yan was still somewhat lucid. He looked at Cheng Yao beside him, somewhat uncertain, and asked, "Are you going back together?"

Xu Jialan, as if it were the most natural thing in the world, gripped her shoulder tightly and pulled her closer. "Of course."

Xu Yan watched the two get into the car.

Back at Xu Jialan's apartment, as they got off the elevator, Cheng Yao helped him stagger to a door.

"Is this your home? What's the password?" Cheng Yao asked him, looking at the combination lock on the door.

Xu Jialan didn't speak, but her eyes were fixed on the door next to her. "This isn't my home."

He let go of Cheng Yao, leaned against the wall and staggered to the next room, turned on the combination lock, and began to enter the password.

I entered the password once, but it said the password was incorrect.

Xu Jialan frowned. Why was the password wrong? He clearly remembered it perfectly!

So he tried again, but it still showed an error.

"How could it be wrong?" He raised his hand and banged on the door.

Seeing that he was getting a little anxious, Cheng Yao quickly reassured him, "Did you remember the password wrong?"

"How could I possibly forget? We both changed the password together!"

Two people?

Cheng Yao sensed something unusual.

"Who is the other person?"

Xu Jialan didn't answer. He took out his phone, swiped for a while before finding the landlord's number, and dialed it.

The landlord was already asleep when the phone call woke him up. He sounded annoyed, asking, "What do you want by calling in the middle of the night?"

"What's the password? Did you change it?"

Hearing his drunken tone, the landlord knew he was acting crazy while intoxicated and immediately hung up the phone.

Xu Jialan then dialed again, but she didn't answer, so he kept dialing.

The landlord was incredibly annoyed. "What exactly do you want?"

"Tell me the password!"

"What password? How should I know!"

Seeing that things were unclear, Cheng Yao snatched his phone and said, "I'll talk to her."

"Excuse me, he's drunk. You're the landlord, right? Could you tell us the password for room 1806? He seems to have forgotten it."

"1806? Doesn't he live in 1805? Why would he need the password for 1806? I changed the password after his girlfriend moved out."

girlfriend?

Xu Jialan snatched the phone back and shouted into it, "Tell me the password!"

The landlord was furious. "Your girlfriend has already moved out. Do you know that's trespassing?"

"I'm renting this house. Tell me the password."

Are you sure you want to rent it?

Xu Jialan leaned against the wall, her eyes closed and her brows furrowed, looking very impatient. "Rent it, tell me the password."

The landlord then told him a password.

Xu Jialan entered the password and opened the door, and Cheng Yao followed him inside.

He sat down on the sofa after entering the room, staring blankly ahead.

Cheng Yao sat down next to him and asked, "This isn't your house. Did your girlfriend used to live here? Did you two just break up?"

"She's not my girlfriend."

Cheng Yao was surprised, "Not your girlfriend? Then what's your relationship?"

She thought for a moment, "Could it be a one-night stand?"

"What kind of one-night stand could make you so hung up on it?"

Xu Jialan was somewhat unhappy.

Cheng Yao continued, raising her hand to touch his thigh, "Why don't you try with me? Maybe you'll forget about her in one night."

He suddenly became enraged, grabbed her wrist, and threw her aside, yelling, "Get out!"
