"Lupin, so it really was you who did it."
Lupin was taken aback. The voice did not come from his confidant, but from another commander of ten thousand men in the Western Rong army.
He turned around abruptly, and what he saw left him speechless.
The pursuing cavalry were not his trusted men, but rather various generals from the Western Rong army.
"Where...where are my people? What have you done...?"
All of this was so unexpected that he couldn't understand what had happened for a moment.
He had assumed the person who came with him was one of his trusted confidants and hadn't turned around to look closely. Had he known it was someone else, he would never have so easily revealed the truth. Now it's too late for regrets.
"I brought them here." A cavalryman in the crowd rode forward and removed the turban from his face.
Although the handsome man before him looked somewhat unfamiliar, Lupin recognized his familiar figure and heard his familiar voice. He immediately remembered and pointed at the man, saying, "What are you doing? This man is the Jade-Faced General of the Great Jin! Seize him!"
To his surprise once again, none of the Western Rong generals moved, and dozens of angry gazes were fixed on him.
A captain drew his sword with a swift motion and shouted, "Lupin, you just confessed to assassinating our king. Now you want to use the Jade-Faced General to create chaos? Do you think we'll fall for that?"
Seeing that the generals were ignoring him and instead drawing their swords, Lupin panicked and thought of grabbing a hostage to protect himself. But when he turned around, he found that Luna and Suwan had already taken advantage of his panic and escaped to the Western Rong generals.
Fortunately, his warhorse was right in front of him. He quickly leaped onto the horse, gave a shout, and spurred it to flee into the distance.
The Western Rong generals pulled on the reins, and one of them said to Wei Jingzhuo, "Lu Bang is a famous archer in our Western Rong. If we rashly pursue him, we might get shot..."
Wei Jingzhuo said calmly, "He is the murderer who assassinated the King of Xirong. How can we let him go? I'll go after him."
Just as he was about to mount his horse, Su Wan ran over and said, "Ah Jin, quickly pull me onto the horse. I'll go with you."
Sometimes life is like that; it seems like you've reached the bottom of an abyss, but suddenly you're rescued. Before, she and Luna were as lost and helpless as stray dogs, but in the blink of an eye, Lupin was the one running away.
Seeing Wei Jingzhuo and Su Wan ride off in pursuit, Luna's courage surged, and she roared at everyone, "If a weak woman dares to chase after them, what are you all afraid of!"
Everyone nodded in agreement and spurred their horses to follow Wei Jingzhuo.
Dozens of warhorses swept away like a whirlwind, leaving Luna all alone on the spot.
