Chapter 258 Reunion is also a Parting

The green light flashed again, and her body flew up, tumbled twice in the air, and landed on the ground motionless.

"Haha, this gun is really amazing." Xie Maoliang grabbed Bai Zhiyi's wrist, admiring the metal cylinder in his hand. "It's a really powerful weapon."

"Your Highness, Your Highness!" Bai Zhiyi cried out desperately, trying to break free from his grasp.

Xie Maoliang grew impatient, forcefully pulled Bai Zhiyi and threw her onto the deck, ordering the soldiers, "Tie her up, but don't let her die. Send her back to Da Jin, and we'll get our reward."

The soldiers were initially shocked by his actions, but then they quickly realized what was happening. One soldier stepped forward, tied Bai Zhiyi's hands together, and bound them tightly with rope, as well as her feet.

Bai Zhiyi didn't struggle at all, as if she had lost her soul, and murmured something to herself.

Xie Maoliang said, "Raise anchor and catch up with the ship ahead."

A soldier said, "General, those two are dead, right? Just to be on the safe side, should we go ashore and check again?"

Xie Maoliang glanced at Wei Jingzhuo and Su Wan, who were motionless on the shore, and laughed, "Even black armor can't stop these defensive guns. They're doomed. Let's set sail."

The soldiers anchored the boat without hoisting the sails, letting the current carry it as it glided past Jinhua Mountain and sailed downstream.

After traveling several miles, a cry for help suddenly came from the water. The voice was old and sounded like that of an elderly person.

Bai Zhiyi, who had been lying on the deck like a dead person, heard the cries for help and immediately sat up straight and looked in the direction of the cries.

A thick tree trunk protruded from the water, and a huge basin made of some unknown material was stuck in the trunk. Inside the basin sat two old men, who were shouting towards the large ship.

When Bai Zhiyi saw the faces of the two old people, her eyes widened suddenly, and she cried out, "Father, Mother."

The Duke and Duchess Bai, in a bathtub given to them by Su Wan, drifted to this spot and became stuck in a tree branch. Seeing several boats coming down from upstream, they shouted for help. But none of the boats stopped; they all drove right past.

Another ship arrived, and the Duke of Bai immediately shouted for help.

When Bai Zhiyi's voice came from the ship, the old couple thought they had misheard. As the ship drew closer, Bai's mother grabbed Bai Guogong's sleeve and said, "It's Zhiyi, it's Zhiyi's voice, look over there!"

With tears streaming down his face, Duke Bai stood up and said, "Zhiyi, we've finally seen you."

Bai Zhiyi turned around, knelt down on both knees, and said to Xie Maoliang, "General Xie, please save my parents."

Xie Maoliang asked, "Are those two old people your parents?"

Bai Zhiyi said, "Yes, please stop the boat quickly, or we'll miss it."

Xie Maoliang smiled and raised his defensive gun, aiming it at the Duke and Duchess Bai: "They're just stuck, I'll help them get out of there."

Bai Zhiyi screamed, "No!"

A flash of green light, and the bathtub carrying the Duke and Duchess Bai, along with half a broken tree branch, sank into the water. Bai Zhiyi rushed to the side of the boat, but was held down firmly by two soldiers. She could only cry out helplessly, "Father, Mother."

She screamed until she was hoarse, but no one surfaced in the surging waves.

“You,” Bai Zhiyi turned around and stared at Xie Maoliang, “you killed my parents.”

Xie Maoliang laughed and said, "So what if I did? I'm the one who ruined your face. But I didn't do it on purpose. You're just unlucky."

Bai Zhiyi screamed and sprang up, trying to pounce on him, but the soldiers were already prepared and pressed her firmly down on the deck of the ship.

Xie Maoliang stood in front of her, stepped on the back of her head, squeezing her face against the clown mask, and laughed loudly: "I just want you to know what you can do to me. If I take you back to the Great Jin Dynasty, I can rise to prominence."

The soldiers around him also laughed and praised Xie Maoliang.

"General, your timing was absolutely perfect. Wei Jingzhuo and Su Wan are both dead, so the new emperor won't know what we've done."

"If things go well, the general might replace Wei Jingzhuo as the Grand General, and we will all be promoted."

"After enduring so much hardship, I'm finally about to make something of myself."

Bai Zhiyi struggled a few more times, then coughed up a mouthful of blood and fainted.
