The man was smitten with the landlady and immediately pressed his advantage.
“My car is nearby, it only takes fifteen minutes to get there. Do you want to go and take a look?”
The proprietress hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
I rode a motorcycle there, and as soon as I got off, I stepped into a pool of bloody water, with several maggots still moving around in it.
The proprietress jumped up and couldn't help but complain, "Your hygiene is terrible! What's in this water? Could it be maggots? Ugh!"
"We've been too busy to clean up. Come inside, it's clean there."
Since we're already here, we can't just leave like this. Let's take a look around.
With this in mind, the proprietress followed the middle-aged man into the warehouse.
Upon entering, several rows of meat dishes filled to the brim, emitting a putrid smell, immediately changed the proprietress's expression.
Although she's greedy and likes to make money, she still has a conscience. The meat on that shelf isn't fit for human consumption.
The middle-aged man noticed her odd behavior and explained with a smile, "The meat outside is for pet food, not for human consumption. The meat I wanted to show you is still in the cold storage; you'll see it when someone has picked out the good stuff."
Looking around, there were indeed quite a few people picking out goods in the warehouse.
Suddenly, the proprietress saw a very familiar face.
"Isn't that the owner of the Hao You Lai fast food restaurant on the front street? The portions are huge and the prices are reasonable, which attracts a lot of customers. I've always asked him where he gets his ingredients, but he never tells me. Now I've found out!"
The proprietress leaned closer and said, "Old Liu, you didn't expect this, did you? I've found where you get your supplies."
The man who was called Lao Liu was startled by the words, but he breathed a sigh of relief when he turned around and saw that it was Jiajia Fast Food Restaurant's owner.
"Do you know that people can scare each other to death?"
"I'm just so happy to see you. You're a regular customer here. How's the meat?"
An unnatural look flashed across Old Liu's face: "It's edible, it won't make you sick, you can see the rest for yourself."
Seeing that Lao Liu was unwilling to say more, the proprietress didn't press him. Lao Liu's shop had been open for more than half a year, and she hadn't heard of any cases of people getting sick from eating there, so there shouldn't be any problems.
Just then, someone finished making their selection, and the old man in the leather jacket went inside to take out the goods he had chosen. The proprietress then went over to take a look.
Although the owner of the restaurant doesn't work in the kitchen, she knows a thing or two about how to tell the quality of food.
To the naked eye, the food the old man took out looked no different from what you'd find at the wholesale market.
'How can it be so cheap?'
The proprietress's doubts were completely resolved after she saw the date on the packaging.
These are expired ingredients, more than a year past their expiration date. No wonder they're so cheap.
The Liu family has always used this without any problems. Maybe I should give it a try?
Suddenly, she seemed to remember something, turned around and asked the fat, big-eared middle-aged man, "There's a small stall selling boxed lunches at the entrance of the Bauhinia Garden construction site. Does he get his supplies from there?"
The middle-aged man didn't know who she was talking about, nor did he recognize the person, but he still kept replying, "Yes, yes."
Upon hearing this, the proprietress became furious.
So you're the one who gets your goods from here, that's why you dared to buy them at such low prices. That's simply unforgivable.
Then, with a wave of her hand, she checked four or five items on the list.
"Bring all of these to me."
