Challenge Nile River Arena (Part 3)

Challenge Nile River Arena (Part 3)

The moment Lin Bai stepped out of the stone gate, the prompt interface appeared again.

[Please go to the stone giant to find the ruins. 】

Stone giant?

She frowned slightly and glanced around. The wind rustled through the rubble, picking up bits of dust that swirled a few times in the air before falling silently. There were no living creatures, not even a trace of the stone giant.

However, when she raised her head and looked across the rolling sand dunes in the distance, she finally saw the vague shadow standing at the end of the wasteland. The outline was vaguely human, huge and silent, like an eternal and motionless sculpture.

She narrowed her eyes and took a picture of the figure with her light brain. She slid her fingertips across the light brain interface and enlarged it to reveal a human figure.

Lin Bai let out a light breath, put away his laptop, and walked towards the giant.

The colors of the sky and the earth gradually became blurred.

Her footsteps left shallow traces in the desert, which were quickly wiped away by the wind, as if no one had ever set foot there.

The stone giants were so far away from the pyramid-shaped ruins that it would take a long time to reach them on foot. Without any means of transportation, she could only rely on her own legs and willpower to cross this silent desert.

Compared to the scorching heat of the previous desert examination hall, the temperature in the desert was much cooler, and the air was filled with a faint smell of sand.

Lin Bai looked down at his computer and continued to analyze the previously recorded images of the mural while hiking.

She had been good at multitasking since she was young. She walked forward steadily while her eyes wandered across the screen of the computer, quickly comparing the ancient runes with the postures of the gods.

Those pictures reveal some indescribable meaning.

The battle between gods and dark beasts, the chaotic battlefield...

There is also a vague outline, sandwiched between the gods and the dark beasts.

She narrowed her eyes and lightly swiped her finger across the screen to enlarge the outline.

The shape of a person.

Lin Bai was slightly shocked.

Who is it?

She lowered her head to take another look at the image and tried to continue studying, but the computer suddenly became unstable. She had to give up.

Her gaze once again turned into the distance.

There, the huge figure still stands on the horizon.

Lin Bai quickened his pace.

——

Time was like the wind, blowing across the vast wilderness, stirring up layers of yellow sand. Lin Bai continued to walk until he finally approached the stone giant.

It was not until then that she saw clearly that it was not a single statue, but a pair, a man and a woman, facing each other from a distance.

The man crouched slightly, a look of worry on his face. The woman, however, was different. She lifted one heel slightly, her face twisted, an unspeakable pain frozen between her brows, as if she were silently crying out.

Lin Bai walked over and his eyes fell on the toes of the female giant. The stone surface there was broken, and a deep pit was vaguely visible. It seemed that it had been repeatedly crushed by time and external forces, and eventually became a scar. The pit was filled with water.

Based on the expressions of the stone giants, it is possible that this deep pit existed when they were carved.

She didn't care much and just walked slowly along the shadows where the giants stood, searching for the so-called "ruins" under their feet.

However, the sunlight slowly set in the west from the zenith, and time passed through her fingers for a whole day, but she found nothing.

The sky darkened, the temperature in the desert plummeting. The wind carried the scent of night. Lin Bai took a deep breath, spread out her sleeping bag, and wrapped herself in it. Starlight streamed down, and she half-closed her eyes. Fatigue overtook her, and her thoughts sank to the brink of sleep.

At this moment, she subconsciously glanced at the stone giant.

The next second, his pupils suddenly contracted, and his sleepiness was instantly torn apart by fear.

——The giantess’ feet were originally touching the ground, but now, they were suspended in the air, completely leaving the earth.

She held her breath, her fingertips gripping the edge of the sleeping bag.

The sound of the wind is faint, like someone is whispering.

Lin Bai's heart was beating like thunder.

The stone giant is alive.

Cold sweat oozed from my palms and my heart was beating like a drum.

Lin Bai stared at the giantess statue without blinking.

The night was deep, and the world was silent, as if nothing had changed. But Lin Bai knew that everything was changing.

She once again confirmed that the female giant's feet were completely suspended in the air, without a single point of contact. Yet, the giant's expression remained distorted and painful, as if the moment of her ultimate struggle had been frozen in time.

She turned her body slightly, and one hand quietly touched the computer, and with the help of the dim night light, she quickly called up the image just now.

In the images recorded by her light brain, the giantess's feet were indeed on the ground.

In other words, at a certain moment when she was not aware, she really moved, and it was not an illusion.

Lin Bai forced himself to calm down, narrowed his eyes slightly, and stared at the outline of the giantess. His gaze slowly moved down from her distorted face to her legs.

However, at the moment when the light on the computer screen flickered slightly, she heard an echo from the wilderness, like a slow-melody ballad.

Without thinking too much, Lin Bai took the risk. She walked towards the giant and reached out to touch the giant's feet.

When I put my palm against it, it was cool, but not like stone. It felt somewhere between soft and hard.

Lin Bai took out a dagger and tried to remove a small piece for analysis. As soon as he smashed it in, he saw a drop of blue water seeping out. No, it was not water, but the giant's blood.

Lin Bai was afraid of angering the giant, so he quickly put away the dagger.

The giants were moving at a speed so slow that she could hardly perceive it. Perhaps the entrance to the ruins was being blocked by these two slow giants, so it could not be found.

If this is true, she can only wait.

Lin Bai glanced at her laptop. It was almost dawn, and the desert chill at night was bone-chilling. She tightened her collar, lowered her body, and tried to avoid the wind as much as possible.

Do you really want to wait?

Maybe, we can dig it out.

Thinking of this, Lin Bai took out the shovel from his portable space and started digging.

She did not summon the gods because, firstly, it was not dangerous at the moment, and secondly, in order to preserve her mental strength, summoning the Monkey King had already consumed a lot of her energy.

Thanks to the last-minute cramming, Lin Bai's slightly improved physical fitness made digging much easier for her.

Lin Bai dug with her shovel, dry sand flying from the edge of the shovel, carrying the coolness of the desert night. Her movements were not fast, but steady and powerful. Each stroke cut into the sand precisely, gradually digging a narrow tunnel at the giant's feet.

As she dug deeper, her breathing became faster, a thin layer of sweat oozed from her forehead, and her palms became slightly sore from holding the shovel tightly for so long. However, she did not stop.

The surroundings were still quiet, with only the wind occasionally brushing past her ears, bringing with it the intermittent, faint humming sound, which was like an ancient ballad, distant and sad, echoing in this sleeping land.

Lin Bai stopped and listened attentively.

That sound... came from underground.

Her heart trembled, and she was almost certain that the sound did come from the soles of her feet.

Lin Bai took a deep breath and continued to work faster. About half an hour later, the shovel finally touched a texture different from sand, with a crisp sound.

Delighted, she reached out to clear away the dust around her, finally revealing a dark golden edge, like a heavy underground door, covered with complex patterns, and vaguely showing some kind of ancient totem.

Lin Bai gently wiped the dust off the door with his hand, and felt a series of shallow grooves with his fingertips. These patterns seemed to be able to be combined into some kind of rune mechanism.

She tried pressing down on one of the indentations.

“Click.”

A slight mechanical sound was heard, and the entire door vibrated slightly. Then, faint blue light patterns spread from the patterns on the door, as if some kind of energy was reactivated.

Lin Bai quickly took a few steps back, staring closely at the changes in the door.

After a few seconds, the door sank slightly, then slowly slid open, and a dark passage appeared in front of her. A smell that had been sealed for many years blew out from it. Lin Bai lit the note and threw it in. It could burn continuously and was safe.

She stepped in without hesitation.

The underground gate slowly closed behind her, isolating the starlight from the outside world, and darkness completely enveloped her world.

Before entering, Lin Bai glanced at the giants, but saw that both of them were waiting for her, with no expression on their faces, which made her scalp tingle.

She turned on the light and what came into view was a long and narrow stone corridor with irregular scratches on the walls on both sides.

Lin Bai raised the lamp and carefully illuminated a part of it.

There are bloodstains on the wall.

She touched it and it was dry.

Walking down, there was a long and deep corridor. Just when Lin Bai didn't know the time, the front suddenly opened up and a huge forest appeared in front of him. There were faint huge roars coming one after another.

Suddenly a huge lizard jumped out. No, not a lizard, but a dinosaur.
