After learning the answer, Zhu Caining became even more determined to cling to a powerful figure. She knew about superpowers because there were two people downstairs who had awakened them. In the beginning, many people had fevers, some became zombies, and some became superpowered individuals, but the chances were very small. Out of so many people, only those two were able to achieve superpowers.
So initially, everyone tied up those with fevers and waited for them to wake up again.
Ye Shang: "Let's go outside and collect some things. We still have quite a few usable items from the way here."
Zhu Caining nodded: "Okay."
The two walked out one after the other. This supermarket was huge, almost the largest supermarket in the entire city, which is why so many people could survive for two months without going out to find food.
A large city means a large population, and a large population naturally means a large number of zombies.
Besides, it's too far from City A. It takes half a day to get here by plane, let alone walking. But if we're lucky, we can get a car.
Zhu Caining kept talking the whole way, eating potato chips and chattering about her situation, where she was from, how many relatives she had, where her hometown was, where she studied, and so on.
Ye Shang remained silent the whole way, occasionally responding, but he was almost always packing things up—clothes, shoes, bed sheets, curtains, shampoo, shower gel, and other daily necessities, he packed everything away.
The spatial rings automatically organize themselves, becoming more uniform and tidy than those in a supermarket.
Ye Shang glanced at it a few times and was very satisfied. It was worth the money she had spent to ask the sect leader of the weapon-refining sect for a special rune array.
Two hours passed after the two of them almost emptied the supermarket. Zhu Caining went from being shocked at first to being numb later. She really didn't expect that her space energy ability was so great and could hold so much.
Ye Shang then said to her, "If we go with the army, things might go more smoothly, but we need to play it safe and develop our strength cautiously."
Zhu Caining nodded: "You are right. I haven't had a fever yet, but I am afraid that if I end up with the army, I might be killed immediately."
Ye Shang was silent for a moment. She learned from Zhu Caining that some people had a fever for several days. She had only had a fever for a day and a night at the time, but she heard that some people below had a fever for five days and still hadn't recovered. They were tied up and didn't eat or drink and were able to survive for five days, but eventually they turned into zombies.
What if the army finds it too troublesome? After all, they have traveled all the way to City A, and there are so many people involved. It is impossible for everyone with a fever to wait for recovery. The most likely scenario is that they will be left behind.
"Your concerns are not without merit," Ye Shang nodded slightly.
Zhu Caining continued, "Let's rest for a day first and set off again tomorrow. It would be best to get a car then. My uncle has a car in the garage, but I feel that an SUV would be better for the road conditions outside."
"Well, I'll go out and look for it when the time comes." Ye Shang's space was full of supplies, so she was no longer in a hurry.
The two of them found a bed each in the area where bedding was sold before, and covered them with soft cushions. Ye Shang planned to put them away after use. The bed was not of much use, after all, she had just moved into her house. But Zhu Caining probably didn't have any, so forget it, she would collect some more for her to change.
Zhu Caining, who had no idea that she was being treated as a future worker, was now grunting as she tied the bed sheet. She planned to pull the bed sheet up to cover the outside so that there would at least be some space.
She asked, "Wouldn't it be more convenient if we just found a room? Why do we have to sleep in such a dangerous place?"
Although Ye Shang had just cleared out a lot of zombies, this floor was on the third floor, and there were basically no zombies left. The stairs were also blocked off with some things, so the zombies wouldn't come upstairs yet.
But what if one suddenly appears out of nowhere? It's still not as safe as the monitoring room she used to be in.
Ye Shang said, "This place is directly facing the main gate. If there's any noise, we can run away instantly. We can't hear or see anything in those rooms, let alone run away. What if the zombie army comes? There are a lot of people in this city."
After all that explanation, Zhu Caining nodded: "I see. You do know a bit more."
After hanging up the curtains, she lay down on the other side of the bed, exhausted, and said, "Could you please install a bed for me in your space? I reckon I'll be sleeping outdoors a lot later on."
"Mm," Ye Shang replied.
Then she sat cross-legged on the bed and began to practice the Energy Control Technique. She only felt a slight sensation, but it was also energy. She called this gas energy because she didn't know what it was, but it was definitely not spiritual energy.
Around midnight, the supermarket's iron gate rattled as it started to rain outside. In this weather, the temperature difference between day and night is quite large; it's almost always hot during the day but very cold at night.
Fortunately, Ye Shang's robe is warm in winter and cool in summer, and she feels very comfortable wearing it.
Ye Shang was almost always meditating and cultivating, while Zhu Caining, perhaps feeling that she was there, slept very soundly.
Thunder roared, and Ye Shang frowned slightly. Perhaps because she had died under the Nine-Day Thunder Tribulation before, she opened her eyes with some discomfort and gave up practicing.
