Chapter Twelve: For Your Own Good

Lin Fan sat back down in his chair, staring blankly ahead.

He had no regrets.

The Lin family has brought this situation upon themselves.

He has no obligation or responsibility to help them.

What he needs to do now is to run his company well and make those who once looked down on him regret it!

"President Lin, the plan for the ocean project has been completed."

The assistant walked in cautiously, carrying a document.

"Hmm." Lin Fan responded casually, took the document, and began to read it carefully.

The assistant stood to the side, not daring to breathe.

He knew that Lin Fan was in a bad mood, and he didn't dare to bother him at this time.

Lin Fan skimmed through the documents, his mind racing.

The ocean-going project is his most important project at present.

If this project succeeds, his company will reach new heights, and his position will be more secure.

He absolutely would not allow any mistakes to occur in this project!

"Let's change this part again."

Lin Fan pointed to a spot on the document and said to his assistant.

"Okay, Mr. Lin."

The assistant quickly picked up a pen and made changes to the document.

"And this place, double-check the data," Lin Fan said, pointing to another location.

"Yes, Mr. Lin." The assistant continued making revisions.

"..."

Lin Fan kept offering suggestions for revision, which his assistant recorded one by one.

Time passed by, and the office was so quiet that the only sound was the scratching of a pen on paper.

Lin Fan threw himself into his work, completely forgetting about time and the Lin Group.

For him, work is the best medicine.

Only through work can he find his own value and forget those unpleasant things.

After an unknown amount of time, Lin Fan finally put down the documents in his hand.

"Alright, let's proceed with this plan," Lin Fan said to his assistant.

"Yes, Mr. Lin." The assistant breathed a sigh of relief.

"Go ahead and get busy," Lin Fan waved his hand, signaling his assistant to leave.

After his assistant left, Lin Fan leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes.

The Lin family's old house, once a villa symbolizing glory and wealth, now exudes an inescapable air of decay.

The walls were peeling, the garden was overgrown, and it stood out starkly from the exquisite surroundings of its neighbors.

Inside the living room, the atmosphere contrasted sharply with the dilapidated state of the place.

Mr. and Mrs. Lin sat on the sofa, their faces beaming with long-lost smiles.

Opposite them stood a well-dressed man, yet his haggard appearance was undeniable—Lin Yaozu.

"Yaozu, you're finally out! Your parents were so worried!" Lin's mother held Lin Yaozu's hand tightly, tears streaming down her face.

Lin's father patted Lin Yaozu on the shoulder, his voice choked with emotion: "It's good that you're back, it's good that you're back! You've suffered so much inside!"

Looking at his parents, who had aged considerably, Lin Yaozu felt a mix of emotions.

He forced a smile, fighting back tears: "Dad, Mom, I'm fine. I'm sorry to have worried you."

"It's good that you're alright, it's good that you're alright!" Lin's mother wiped away her tears and pulled Lin Yaozu to sit down on the sofa. "Sit down quickly and tell Mom what you went through inside. Did anyone bully you?"

A sinister glint flashed in Lin Yaozu's eyes, but he quickly concealed it. He

He said, feigning nonchalance, "Mom, don't worry. I'm the eldest son of the Lin family, after all. Who would dare bully me? Inside, I'm just... just..."

He stammered and couldn't give a coherent answer for a long time.

Lin's father noticed his embarrassment and quickly changed the subject:

"Yaozu, it's good that you're out. Don't worry about things at home. Your mother and I have already taken care of everything at the company."

"It's all taken care of?" A look of doubt flashed in Lin Yaozu's eyes. "Dad, you mean... everything at the company is resolved?"

"Of course!" Lin's father smiled smugly.

"With your father involved, what problem can't be solved? Those creditors, I've dealt with them all. The company...the company, although..."

He hesitated, as if he had something difficult to say.

"Although what?" Lin Yaozu pressed.

"Although...although the company was auctioned off..." Lin's mother said softly, her tone full of helplessness.

"Auctioned off?!" Lin Yaozu jumped to his feet, his voice rising eight octaves. "What did you say? The company was auctioned off? You... how could you do this?!"

His voice was filled with anger and disbelief.

"Yaozu, don't get agitated!" Lin's father quickly reassured him. "You know the company's...you know the situation. We...we had no choice!"

"No way? What do you mean you have no way out?!"

Lin Yaozu completely lost control of his emotions. He pointed at his parents' noses and shouted loudly.

"Do you even know that this is the culmination of my hard work... no, it's the hard work of generations of the Lin family! And you... you just sold it off like that?!"

"How...how could you face me? How could you face the ancestors of the Lin family?!"

His voice echoed in the empty living room, sounding particularly jarring.

Lin's parents trembled with fear at Lin Yaozu's roar; they had never seen him so out of control.

"Yaozu, you...you don't be angry..." Lin's mother said in a trembling voice.

"We...we're doing this for your own good! You...you're inside, we...we have to find a way to get you out!"

"You got me out? Is this how you got me out?!"

Lin Yaozu was so angry that he laughed instead.

"You...you are truly my good parents! You sacrificed the entire company to get me out of here! You...you..."

He was so angry that he was trembling all over and couldn't say a word.

“Yaozu, listen to me…” Lin’s father tried to explain, but was rudely interrupted by Lin Yaozu.

"I don't want to hear it! I don't want to hear anything!" Lin Yaozu pointed at his parents and shouted angrily, "You...you are a bunch of good-for-nothings! A bunch of spendthrifts! You...you have ruined everything the Lin family has!"

"Yaozu, how...how could you say that to us?" Tears streamed down Lin's mother's face again. "We...we were doing this for you!"

"For me? Don't use me as an excuse!" Lin Yaozu sneered.

"You...you're all selfish! You're just afraid I'll fight you for the inheritance after I get out! You...you..."

His words were like sharp knives, piercing the hearts of Lin's parents.

"Yaozu, you...you've misunderstood us..."

Lin's father was pale. He wanted to explain, but found himself speechless.

"Misunderstanding? What did I misunderstand about you?"

Lin Yaozu pressed on relentlessly.

"You...you're a bunch of vampires! A bunch of parasites! You...you've drained the Lin family dry! And now...now you're pretending to be good people? You...you..."
