Chapter 22 Rebuilding Our Home

Unaware that players far away in Europe had also cleared the dungeon, Liu Nian finally returned to the home he had longed for.

"It's been three days. Do you know how I've spent these three days?" Lying in his doghouse, he stretched comfortably. Home is so cozy.

I don't know when the power went out, and the tap water stopped too.

Liu Nian pulled a notebook from her desk, intending to write down the supplies she would need while staying at home.

First, you need to find a working charger. If your phone is out of power, there's no one to talk to, and you really can't survive without your phone. You'll go crazy sooner or later.

Secondly, there is not enough drinking water. The supplies card only contains one case of cola and one case of mineral water, which is far from sufficient.

Next, having discussed water, it's time to talk about food. It's been three days, and most of the cooked food has probably spoiled. We need to find something that's easy to store.

Finally, medicines, fire-starting supplies, and daily necessities. For example, gas cylinders, timber, cigarettes, alcohol, and books.

Don't think these things are unimportant. Many lone wolves go crazy because they don't pay attention to their mental cultivation and their sanity drops to zero.

As for fitting in? I'll just have to see how it goes. I'm used to being a loner, so it doesn't matter whether I have anyone to talk to or not.

In short, I'll stop here for now. I can add more later if needed.

Looking at the somewhat empty room, Liu Nian set a small goal in her mind: to fill the room first.

I work away from home and live in a regular single room, about ten square meters each. The landlord only provides a bed, and I have to bring everything else myself.

The landlords, an elderly couple, ran a grocery store on the first floor and were usually in the store. When Liu Nian went upstairs, the door was closed and she didn't see them. They had a spare key to the apartment and wanted to eliminate any potential threats in the building first.

Thinking of this, Liu Nian had a sudden thought: "Dark Space"

A magic circle for the Dark Gate appeared on the open ground before them, and a group of summoned creatures filed out from the circle.

After knocking several times, there was no response from inside the grocery store. The simple apartment building offered no soundproofing whatsoever, so it seemed no one was home. The spear was aimed at the grocery store's door lock, and with a single blow, the simple lock was broken open.

Liu Nian kicked open the door and breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that the landlord and his wife were not there. He really didn't want to kill them, and it was always easier not to have to face them now.

The small grocery store was easily visible from end to end. The elderly couple only sold simple drinks, beer, and snacks. Liu Nian didn't care for the rest of the items, such as door locks, buckets, and bed sheets, and decisively ignored them. He took out a burlap sack he had picked up and started filling it up as he ate. After three trips, the small store was completely emptied.

Grabbing the spare key hanging on the wall, Liu Nian turned and went up to the second floor. Room 201 was Liu Nian's own apartment, with five rooms on each floor, for a total of five floors. Room 201 faced the stairwell, arranged in two rows, one with odd numbers and the other with plural numbers.

Why not use a spear to forcefully break down the door? Liu Nian had considered this question as well. What if there were still people alive? It wouldn't be right to just smash up someone else's house. They were all people who had received nine years of compulsory education; killing someone over a minor disagreement was something Liu Nian knew he couldn't do.

Before even opening the door to room 202, screams and the sound of the door slamming together could be heard from inside. Without hesitation, the door was opened, swung open inwards, and with a kick, the infected person behind the door was knocked down by the force.

Judging from his appearance, he must have been a middle-aged man in life, dressed simply. Making a living must have been tough. Rest in peace. Liu Nian stepped aside to let him through the doorway, and the summoned creature behind him walked into the house.

Immediately afterwards, the sound of clashing weapons came from inside the house. After being struck in the brain by an axe, the middle-aged infected man stopped struggling.

[Congratulations to player Liu Nian for successfully killing the infected and gaining 1 experience point]

Hearing the notification tone this time did not make Liu Nian happy. The migrant workers she met by chance did not have much interaction, but there was a sense of sadness, like the feeling of "a rabbit mourning the death of a fox".

Without further ado, he went inside. The house had that characteristic messy feel of a single man, with its furnishings laid out clearly at a glance. After a quick rummage, he found a bowl of noodles and some seasonings. The vegetables were so badly rotten that Liu Nian didn't want to bother taking them.

Then they cleared the houses one by one. All four rooms were occupied by middle-aged people, both couples and singles. Most of the supplies they found were cheap and practical, and one of the rooms even had a first-aid kit.

Boxes of supplies were carried home. The people of Tianlong Kingdom are known for their hoarding skills, especially in the gaming world. No matter what type of game it is, if it involves farming, it is treated as a farming game.

Aside from this one room, the interior was quite quaint, clearly belonging to a sophisticated girl with a touch of bourgeois taste. At first glance, it was filled with clothes, leaving no room to even step. However, the food supplies were woefully inadequate; after searching for ages, she couldn't find anything to eat. What use were these clothes anyway? She wasn't going to be some kind of cross-dressing master.

Time passed by as she moved through the floors. After cleaning the last room, Liu Nian collapsed onto the bed inside, exhausted. Moving items back and forth was exhausting, she thought, and gulped down a bottle of mineral water.

A typical stay-at-home guy's rations include about four boxes of instant noodles, all different flavors. Three bags of ham sausages, again, all brands. About thirty liters of bottled and bottled water. Other items include chocolate, spicy snacks, cigarettes, alcohol, and several gas canisters. If necessary, a room should be reserved as a woodshed; the wooden bed frame can be chopped up for firewood.

After taking stock of the supplies, Liu Nian discovered that it was comparable to the haul from the grocery store downstairs. She couldn't help but marvel at how well the people of her great nation could stockpile goods.

He pulled out a card dropped by an infected person from his pocket: a resource card for "Black Pepper Beef Family Bucket".

Note: Born to be the eldest brother's cow, die to be the eldest brother's black pepper beef tenderloin family bucket set meal.

Liu Nian shook his head after reading it, finding the nonsensical notes completely incomprehensible.

Looking at the sunset outside the window, I lay in bed thinking about what I had seen and heard today. The infected I encountered all seemed to be somewhat rotten, and they seemed to have stopped running and their movements were much stiffer. I wondered if they had lost their vitality? Could I let them all starve to death?

If the speculation is true, it would be a good thing for the surviving humans. Perhaps someone will come to rebuild civilization in the near future. I wonder if the government will crack down on these infected? Will a savior appear?

However, none of this mattered to Liu Nian; it was all due to his personality. A person without desires would remain idle even in the apocalypse. After exhausting his mana, Liu Nian glanced at the piles of supplies and fell into a deep sleep.

Meanwhile, somewhere unknown, a somber voice rang out: "Three days have passed. We've given them enough breathing room. We need to fully upgrade the released demonic seed and reduce their numbers further."

“I object. This is too hasty. It’s like sending most people to their deaths,” another female voice said.

"We don't have time, or we'll all die."

"Prepare to release the second batch of demonic seeds." A dignified voice interrupted the pointless argument and issued the final order.

Looking at the bright red figure of 80 million on the big screen, everyone fell into deep thought.
