Chapter 14 Before leaving, go to Beilin's fiefdom

By the time Karen had successfully managed to control the news, it was already dark. The other family members had already taken their seats in the conference hall. The eldest lady looked at the slightly noisy and chaotic crowd with a stern expression and shouted at the top of her voice: "Quiet."

Then, she gave orders in an orderly manner: "Now, have the knights immediately transfer the family members and half of the family's gold coins, about 70,000 to 80,000 pieces, to Belin's fiefdom.

If we successfully repel the orc army, we can return safely, but once the city is captured, we will continue to move to the Valley City. Marquis Roderick will not refuse us out of consideration for the nobles.

As the family arranged for their relocation, unexpected disagreements emerged. Wayne, Derry, and Martin were unwilling to go to Belin's fiefdom. In their minds, a White family man wouldn't desert a battlefield.

When the eldest lady learned of their intention, she tried to dissuade them, but they were determined. Ignoring her objections, the person in charge of arranging the transfer quickly commanded the family knights to escort the ladies and Belin to the carriage.

Before leaving, the wives, tears welling in their eyes, said goodbye to their sons one by one. Beilin was particularly tearful, sobbing.

Wayne found the eldest lady and told her: Mother, I have just notified the knights who stayed in my fiefdom to rush to Belin's fiefdom. After hearing your orders, you will have more protection whether you are in the fiefdom or go to the Valley City.

Mrs. Ellie next to him hugged Martin tightly, her hands like iron clamps, and she refused to let go.

"Mother, please don't worry. I'll stay here with my elder brother and the others, and won't take any risks easily." Martin whispered softly, trying to soothe his mother's panicked and worried heart.

However, Mrs. Ellie would not listen to Martin's explanation at all. She said excitedly and anxiously, "Since you can't help much by staying here, you might as well come with me to Belin's fiefdom. I'm very panicked and feel empty inside when you're not by my side."

Martin patiently soothed her softly for a long time before Mrs. Ellie gradually calmed down. But seeing her son's resolute attitude, with no intention of wavering at all, she was filled with helplessness, sighed heavily, and turned around to get on the carriage with heavy steps.

As soon as she sat down, she hurriedly opened the carriage window, her eyes full of worry and reluctance, and shouted to Martin: "Son, you must take good care of yourself." After that, she slowly closed the carriage window, and that action seemed to have exhausted all her strength.

Under the cover of night, the women of the family moved quietly. To avoid attracting the attention of the nobles and commoners within the city, they left the city in batches, carefully escorted by knights, and hurried towards Belin's fiefdom. The sound of horse hooves was deliberately muted, and the rustle of wheels faded into the night.

Wayne, Derry, and Martin watched the caravan depart, their hearts awash with mixed emotions. Once it was completely out of sight, they returned to the castle and went straight to Karen. They told her everything that had happened.

After listening to this, Karen was silent for a long time, then he sighed slowly, wanting to speak but hesitant. In the end, he said nothing. He simply raised his hand to rub his temple, his eyes filled with fatigue and helplessness, as if this sigh carried the heavy fate of the entire family and unspeakable worries.
