Chapter 15: Two people talk, Karen's decisiveness

The night deepened and the entire castle was shrouded in silence, with only the light in Karen's room still on.

He sat at the desk with a frown on his face, showing no intention of going to bed. He was fully engaged in arranging how the family would respond to the crisis.

His pen flew, and instructions were quickly generated. He then called the butler and solemnly ordered: "Immediately place all the magic cannons on the emplacements of the city wall. The action must be swift and secret.

Also, mobilize all available manpower to gather every magic crystal you can find in the city. Don't leave any behind. This is crucial to the survival of the family." The butler received the order and hurried away, his footsteps remarkably clear in the stillness of the night.

Meanwhile, Martin couldn't sleep. He paced back and forth in the room, his inner uneasiness growing stronger, and finally, he came to Karen's study.

Raising his hand, he gently knocked on the door. "Come in." Karen didn't even look up, the pen in his hand still moving quickly on the document, his voice filled with a hint of fatigue and concentration.

Martin pushed open the door and walked into the room. Karen then raised her head, her eyes full of surprise, and wondered why Martin came here at this time.

Before Karen could ask, Martin stepped to the table and said confidently: Brother, I want to borrow some more gold coins from you, and this time the amount is not small.

Hearing this, Karen paused writing and looked up at Martin, his eyes full of confusion. He asked, "How many gold coins do you want to borrow?" Martin took a deep breath and said an astonishing number: "One hundred and one hundred thousand gold coins."

"How much?" Karen stood up suddenly, and the chair made a sharp sound when it rubbed against the ground. "One hundred and one hundred thousand gold coins? Did I hear it right?" His face was full of disbelief, his brows furrowed, and he stared straight at Martin.

Martin met his eldest brother's scrutinizing gaze with a serious attitude and a sincere tone: "Brother, I have an important purpose for borrowing money. It can help us solve this family crisis."

Karen stared at Martin, her eyes seeming to see through him, and she looked at him for a long time. The study was very quiet, with only the light of the candlelight shining on the two of them.

Finally, Karen seemed to have made up his mind, sat back in his chair, and sighed helplessly, "The family doesn't have that much cash right now. But my third brother Wayne should be able to come up with over ten thousand, and I'll find a way to get it together from somewhere else."

"Okay, brother, I'll wait for your news." Martin looked at Karen gratefully and left the study.

The night gradually faded away, and the faint light of dawn quietly climbed up the window frame. Just as the sky was getting light, a soft but persistent knock sounded outside Martin's room.

Martin woke up from his sleep, rubbed his sleepy eyes, got up and walked out of bed, opened the door. He saw the butler standing upright in front of the door, with his usual respectful expression on his face, handing him an exquisite space ring.

"Master Martin," the butler said, bowing slightly. His voice was steady and clear. "Master Karen asked me to tell you that this is all the gold the family can currently provide."

Martin took the interspatial ring, his eyes slightly startled. Just as he was about to speak, the butler hesitated for a moment and continued, "Master Martin, I don't know what you want so many gold coins for, but in order to collect these gold coins, Master Karen sold all the advanced knight armor in his family, as well as most of the precious magic props and magic potions.

I hope you can use these gold coins prudently and live up to Master Karen's efforts." After saying this, the butler bowed again and turned around to deal with other matters in a hurry.

Martin tightly grasped the space ring in his hand, feeling mixed emotions. He was touched by the family's full support, but also felt the heavy responsibility on his shoulders. He secretly vowed to use these gold coins to resolve the crisis for his family.
