0005 Jealousy (1)

0005 Jealousy (1)

Songhan Residence.

4 a.m.

The rain outside the window was getting heavier, and the pine wood in the fireplace was burning slowly. There was no chill in the air.

Wanqi Fuze gently withdrew his right hand from the bare arms of the person beside him. The person frowned slightly in his sleep.

He got out of bed shirtless and manually pulled the curtains tighter.

He Lingling couldn't sleep well even with a little light and would throw a tantrum. Fortunately, it was raining, and it wasn't very bright outside at this hour.

Zhiwen, dressed in a black suit, was standing in the lobby on the first floor waiting for Wanqi Fuze to come down.

The wafting pine resin from the fireplace made him feel a little lightheaded.

Songhan Residence isn't located in the city center; it's situated on a deserted hillside, so the weather here is noticeably colder than in the city center. Yet, standing in this spacious living room, I don't feel cold at all, a testament to the designer's thoughtfulness.

He personally acquired the land.

In City B, where land is incredibly valuable, Wanqi Fuze shouldn't have bought this desolate piece of land for investment purposes. As his subordinate, he naturally didn't dare to say much, but he couldn't stop the gossip—they all said that Wanqi's young master was raising a house sparrow that couldn't be seen by others.

Later, perhaps due to Wanqi Fuze's actions, this area in the west of the city suddenly attracted the attention of more and more developers.

It is indeed a place of outstanding people and beautiful scenery.

Aside from the Jian Song Han Residence, Wan Qi Fu Ze has bought up properties within a few kilometers of it, occupying a central location. He's not worried about being bogged down by this reckless commercialization and can enjoy some peace and quiet in B City. The good thing is that everyone knows Young Master Wan Qi has sharp eyes and a keen business sense. Those rumors have been dispelled.

At this moment, "Sparrow" is nestled in her warm bed on the second floor, fast asleep and oblivious to the world around her.

Wanqi Fuze buttoned his shirt as he went downstairs. Zhiwen nodded to him, and he waved lightly to indicate that he didn't need to stand on ceremony.

Zhiwen took out her iPad to report on the itinerary of the trip to him. During this time, Wanqi Fuze had already gotten dressed. Even as a man, he had to admire his boss's appearance. No wonder so many beautiful women were throwing themselves at him. But over the years, everyone in the industry knew that he only had one woman, Miss He, by his side.

pity……

Wan Qifuze noticed Zhiwen's momentary lapse in concentration. Realizing her lapse, Zhiwen quickly took a few steps to catch up with her boss.

The driver was already waiting outside, and the group quickly disappeared into the dark rain.

Inside the train carriage, Zhiwen continued her report on the upcoming trip to country A. They would be transiting through Taichung, where a two-hour stopover would be arranged by senior executives from the Taichung branch office at the airport to report on important matters. Country A was their final destination, and including the journey there and back, they would be traveling to and from city B for about a week. Besides Zhiwen, who served as Wanqi Fuze's personal secretary, several other important personnel were also traveling with them. However, the specific arrangements and purpose were known only to a few individuals with access to the core leadership; the rest, including Zhiwen, considered it a simple inspection tour.

Halfway through the journey, Zhiwen called a stop and said to Wanqi Fuze, who was resting with his eyes closed, "It's been more than ten hours of travel. If you're not used to the food on the plane, why don't you have something to eat at Cuiyuxuan first?"

Wanqi Fuze has always preferred light flavors, and Zhiwen is considered an old hand sent by the main family to his side. In addition to his daily travel and work, he also has to take good care of this young master's clothing, food, and accommodation. So he made a reservation here yesterday.

On a cold day, even a bowl of porridge is good for Cantonese morning tea.

Wan Qifu looked up; the sky was already bright outside the car, and they had been traveling for nearly two hours. Songhan Residence was almost diagonally opposite the airport. Judging by the time, He Lingling should be up by now. Unsurprisingly, she was currently battling drowsiness and the chill.

He shook his head to indicate to Zhiwen that he had no appetite.

The car windows blocked out the sound of the rain, making it a good place to rest. He sat quietly, but felt a dull ache in a certain part of his body, which made his temples throb with pain.

A feeling of unease slowly rose in my chest.

"Send someone reliable. I'll stay with He Lingling while I'm gone and make sure she doesn't wander off."

Zhiwen said "yes".

Don't ask what you shouldn't ask, don't say what you shouldn't say, and do what you're told. The Zhi family, spanning three generations, ultimately understood the rules of the Wanqi family.

The car drove further and further away from the airport.

P.S.: It took me ages to log in, I'm so sad!

It's a bit short, don't mind, there's a high chance a new character will appear tomorrow!

Also, I need to explain (and offer a convenient excuse) why I switch between reminiscing and the present. This is because it's my son and daughter's last year, and if I simply reversed the order, there wouldn't be much to write about, which is a bit sad, and it would be difficult to see them humming and groaning… *cough*… So, this way of writing was at my son's insistence (I'm hiding).
