Chapter 382 Village Mission

As the fireball exploded, the Black Flame Python gradually lost its voice.

Houndoom chopped off the snake's head, picked up the massive snake body, and walked back towards the group.

"Looks like we'll be able to have a decent snake soup for lunch!" Blackie laughed, which made Catherine and the others frown slightly.

"Couldn't you have drained the blood first before coming over?" Catherine said, frowning. The strong smell of blood made the girls feel very uncomfortable.

"What are you afraid of? Let me see how much we need before I start cutting. You're not planning to eat here, are you? I guarantee the smell of blood will attract a whole bunch of monsters!" Blackjaw laughed smugly, making everyone want to beat him up.

"Alright, hurry up and cut the meat and let's go. If we keep dawdling, we'll really get surrounded!" Harold came back at this moment, patted Black Rhino on the shoulder and said, while his claws swept across, severing half of the snake's body.

Sarah used water magic to cleanse herself and then stored the items in her spatial equipment before quickly leaving the scene.

Before long, a large number of wild beasts gathered here, and even some magical beasts passed by. The Black Flame Python's body, which was full of magical power, was quickly devoured.

Meanwhile, Harold and the others had already set up camp and rested by a stream.

"I checked the distance, and we should be able to get there around this afternoon. Shall we go today or wait until tomorrow?" Churchill said to the crowd while eating roasted snake meat and drinking snake soup.

“Let’s finish what needs to be done today. We can’t wait until tomorrow. Who knows how many people will come tomorrow?” Harold said, taking a big bite of snake meat and chewing as he spoke.

"Then let's finish eating quickly and go take a look!" Blackie nodded, quickly finished the food in his hand, and then got up to clean up the mess.

Only two girls in the group ate slowly, but their years of living in the wild had helped them mature a lot. Even Princess Catherine didn't mind, though she still ate with elegance and speed.

After a quick lunch, the five set off again, but their progress was slow. There were quite a few magical beasts in the mountains, and they had already encountered several attacks.

Moreover, Warcraft is a visible enemy whose strength is within a controllable range. The truly unpredictable enemies are those classmates you might encounter at any time.

Harold's leather armor had a scorch mark on it, caused by a sneak attack from a classmate. The classmate was carrying a magical item that could instantly cast fireballs and almost killed Harold in one fell swoop. Of course, in the end, he also became Harold and his friends' points.

As night gradually falls, only a sliver of light remains on the horizon, illuminating a tranquil little village.

However, the village was clearly not peaceful at this time, as many students in school uniforms were already walking around, obviously those who had arrived earlier.

"What do we do?" Churchill asked Harold, the seasoned hunter now the leader of the squad.

"Let's go take a look first. There are quite a few people lingering here. It seems this mission isn't so simple!" Harold said after looking at the village.

The appearance of the group immediately attracted everyone's attention. It was easy to tell how many people lived in this small village, and the five people who suddenly appeared were a considerable force.

However, no one chose to make a move at this moment. They glanced at them silently and then went about their own business.

As the five entered the village, everyone received a message on their wristbands.

"Investigate the true cause of the village's destruction and receive a reward of 100 points!"

The points reward is quite generous. They had only earned a dozen or so points after a whole day of running around as a team. One hundred points is enough to equal several days' worth of earnings.

"Let's check the area for any clues. Everyone, be careful!" Harold said, sniffing the air with his sensitive nose as he walked towards an abandoned house.

The village is not large, with only a few dozen households, and you can see the end of the village at a glance.

The village was now just ruins, with charred remains all around, clearly indicating that a great fire had taken place.

"Don't bother looking anymore. We've searched all the houses here, but there are no useful clues. Everything has been burned down, leaving only ashes!" Unwilling to give up, she wanted to go to the next house, but then she heard her classmates remind her.

Not everyone is malicious; they are just trying to protect themselves in this competitive environment. They don't mind helping their classmates if they can, since none of us can complete this task anyway.

"Thank you!" Harold paused slightly, nodded to the other person, and decided not to insist on entering the room. He turned around and went to rejoin his companions.

“There are no clues at all. All we know is that it was burned down, but why it was burned down is a mystery. I even searched several houses, but there wasn’t a single item that could indicate the owner’s information!” Sarah said helplessly.

“It’s not that it didn’t exist, it’s possible that someone else took it! That would make this mission a dead end!” Catherine said. In such public missions, there must be quite a few people who would do that.

"Never mind, let's rest here for the night. Although this place has been burned down, it's still much safer than the wilderness. We'll see if we want to continue this mission tomorrow!" Harold said after thinking for a moment.

Here, he could only smell a burning smell, along with the scents of various people walking by. Clearly, many people had been here before, which had significantly interfered with his sense of smell. He needed time to sort through these smells.

The group found a relatively intact house to stay in. No one minded the environment of sleeping under the open sky. After a simple dinner, they began to sort out the day's gains and the information they had gathered in the village.

It is said that someone landed in this village right after landing from the airship, but that student has already enjoyed a free return trip to the city.

No one knows what quest-related items are actually in the village; at least, that's what everyone still in the village says.

“No! Wait a minute, you said it was already like this when it landed in the village this morning?” Harold suddenly asked.

“Yes!” Sarah nodded subconsciously, and after thinking about it carefully, she realized that they had indeed said that.

"So this village was burned down last night?" Harold said, picking up a branch from the ground and poking at the still-burning fire next to him. A few embers were stirred up with the branch, which, although not serious, indicated that the fire had not been going on for very long.
