Chapter 34 One slip can lead to eternal regret (Part Two)

"You make it sound like you were forced to go to Chongyang Mountain."

"Aren't you?"

"I'm sure. As for you, I'm not so sure."

Although she was reluctant to admit it, she was indeed at a disadvantage compared to Fu Yunchen. Being manipulated by the strong when you are weak is something you can only helplessly accept. But Bai Shalu certainly didn't look like a weakling.

“I went up the mountain by myself,” Baishalu said with a hint of regret.

"Why?"

"Want to know? Trade your own secrets."

"Then forget it." Mu Run refused without even thinking.

Hehe~

Mu Run looked around at the bustling night market and suddenly saw a Taoist priest with a fortune-telling stall. He couldn't help but recall being used as a sacrifice at the Cao family's house... and suddenly felt an urge to overturn the Taoist priest's fortune-telling stall.

Bai Shalu had been watching her closely, so he caught the fleeting anger on her face when she looked at the Taoist priest.

Does she have a grudge against this Taoist priest? Or does she have a prejudice against Taoist priests?

Just as he was about to ask her, her gaze shifted away, suppressing and restraining her emotions.

Bai Shalu raised an eyebrow slightly.

After walking for a while, Baishalu said to Murun, "This is it."

"Where?" Mu Run looked in the direction he pointed and saw a four-story restaurant with bright lights and a gilded plaque with three large, elegant characters written on it: Xiangyuanzhai.

Xiangyuanzhai was a famous restaurant in Minzhou City. The head chef there had trained an apprentice who would become a royal chef, so you can imagine how exceptional the food was. The owner of Xiangyuanzhai was no ordinary person either; he was the nephew of the Minzhou City prefect, and his cousin was a powerful figure in the imperial palace. No one dared to act recklessly there. Therefore, since its opening, Xiangyuanzhai had been incredibly successful, ranking first in the local area and even gaining renown in the capital.

As Mu Run entered the restaurant, he was greeted by a handsome waiter with a warm and friendly demeanor who went up to serve him.

"Have you two distinguished guests reserved a private room?"

This restaurant doesn't have a chaotic lobby; it's all private rooms, which shows that it's different from ordinary restaurants.

Mu Run looked at Bai Shalu.

Bai Shalu replied, "I haven't made a reservation, are there any spaces available?"

"Yes, but the location is a bit out of the way. There's an alleyway outside the window, and no river view."

"It's alright, we're here to eat."

"Then please come with me, gentlemen, to the private room numbered Hai on the top floor."

The Xiangyuanzhai is a four-story building that emphasizes harmony between heaven, earth, and humanity. The "Heaven" character is on the fourth floor, and the "Hai" character is the last room on that floor.

Mu Run walked up the stairs, surveying the entire restaurant. Suddenly, a drunken customer emerged from a private room, staggering down the stairs. The waiter who served that private room quickly steadied him to prevent him from falling.

Going up and down, it's inevitable that we'll meet on the stairs.

Mu Run barely managed to avoid the drunken, crab-like guest, but Bai Shalu, who was following behind Mu Run, was grabbed by the arm.

"Bai Shaohuai!" a customer exclaimed in surprise.

"You've mistaken me for someone else." Bai Shalu shook off the other person's hand, his expression cold and even a little sinister.

"You!" The other person stumbled and almost fell, but luckily a waiter caught him.

Upon hearing the sound, Mu Run turned around and looked at Bai Shalu.

Bai Shalu instantly regained his composure, returning to his carefree and unconventional demeanor. "What's wrong?"

"It's alright, just be careful." Mu Run raised her hand to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear, then continued walking with the man leading the way.
