...
Mu Run and Bai Shalu strolled around the night market for a while, bought a few packets of tea, and then chose a nice-looking inn to stay at.
The two of them each booked a room.
Bai Shalu requested two adjacent rooms to better protect Mu Run, even though he felt that she wouldn't be in any danger given her looks, but it was better to nip it in the bud.
However, the inn was almost full, and there were no adjacent rooms available.
Mu Run didn't care. If they didn't have to be near each other, they wouldn't have to be near each other. It was just a matter of sleeping for a few hours. He would leave first thing tomorrow morning.
Seeing that Mu Run didn't seem to care, Bai Shalu didn't make any further demands.
And so, the two returned to their respective rooms.
Because Mu Run had spent the whole day lying on the boat, she wasn't sleepy at night, so she asked the innkeeper to prepare tea sets and hot water for her, as she planned to taste all the teas she had bought.
As long as you don't swallow the tea after it enters your mouth, you won't get tea intoxication so easily.
As night deepened, almost everyone in the inn turned off their lights and fell asleep. Mu Run's room was still lit, and a rich aroma of tea wafted from the open windows and cracks in the door.
Suddenly, a dark figure stopped at the door of Mu Run's room, and soon a fragrance different from the scent of tea wafted in through the crack in the door...
While brewing tea, Mu Run suddenly felt dizzy and thought to herself, "Oh no, she's drunk on tea again!"
The next day, as dawn broke, Bai Shalu knocked on Mu Run's door, preparing to have breakfast before heading to the dock.
However, after he knocked for quite a while, there was no response from the room.
Bai Shalu frowned slightly, then knocked harder, "Sister-in-law—"
There was still no movement.
Just then, the waiter came up and saw Bai Shalu knocking on the door. He said, "Sir, is there anything I can do for you?"
"Does your inn have female staff?"
"Yes, our inn even has midwives to make it easier to take care of female guests."
"...It's not that bad. Go and call a waitress over to help the female guests get up. We need to hurry to the dock."
"Okay, I'll go right away."
A little while later, a young maid came and entered Mu Run's room. But she quickly came out again and said to Bai Shalu, "Reporting to Master, there is no one inside."
Bai Shalu was stunned for a moment, and then entered the room in the next instant.
The lingering fragrance of the tea brewed last night still lingers, mixed with a faint aroma.
"Scented incense." Bai Shalu's face instantly turned ashen, and a terrifying killing intent erupted from his body. "Call your manager here!"
...
Mu Run woke up.
I felt weak all over, and my head was throbbing with pain.
Well, this time the tea has made me even more intoxicated. Looks like I need to work on my tea tolerance in the future; getting drunk so easily isn't good.
The sound of water in her ears, and the occasional swaying of the ground beneath her, told her that she was on a boat.
Did Baishalu take her onto the boat while she was still drunk because he saw that she was very drunk?
But... this isn't their double-awning boat. Mu Run looked around; it was a multi-story ship, and she was currently lying on the deck.
"Is this her?" A plump woman dressed in fine silk and satin walked up to Mu Run and looked her over.
Behind her followed a thin, hunched-back man with a pointed face and skin that was nothing but bones.
The man replied, "Yes, Madam Song, is it alright?"
"Hey! Who are you? What do you want?" Startled, Mu Run endured her discomfort and forced herself to stand up. Just then, the boat rocked, and she, still unsteady on her feet, fell to the ground in a disheveled state.
