Ni Sitian watched the car drive away until it was out of sight before carrying Tuantuan back into the house.
She spent the morning playing with Tuantuan, and time flew by. She didn't feel that Xu Tingchuan's departure was anything special.
But she felt very lonely at night. After putting Tuantuan to sleep at nine o'clock, she quietly got out of bed and called Xu Tingchuan.
The phone rang several times before it was answered; it sounded noisy on his end.
"Hello."
"It's me." Ni Sitian noticed that Xu Tingchuan's voice sounded a little hoarse, so she asked with concern, "Are you socializing?"
"Hmm." Xu Tingchuan stepped out of the private room and said, "What is it?"
"It's nothing. I was a little worried because you didn't call to let me know you were safe after you left this morning." Ni Sitian spoke carefully, afraid that he was still angry.
“I texted you this morning,” Xu Tingchuan said.
"Really? I haven't checked the messages yet." Ni Sitian didn't dare to admit that she had forgotten to check the messages because she was playing with Tuantuan, and her phone was full of spam messages, so she probably ignored his messages along with the spam messages.
"Oh, where's Tuantuan? Is she asleep?" Xu Tingchuan asked.
"Hmm, I just fell asleep. The teacher from the early childhood education center called again this afternoon. I think I'll pass. There's no need to start learning now. In another year and a half, they can go to kindergarten. It's not too late to start learning then." In the end, Ni Sitian still felt it would be better for Tuantuan, Hengheng, and Xiaokui to learn together.
"Okay, it's up to you." Xu Tingchuan said when he saw President Chen come out to find him, "I still have things to do here, you should get some rest too, and don't kick off the covers tonight."
"Wait..." Ni Sitian was about to speak when the call ended. She held her phone, watching the screen go dark, pouted, and muttered to herself, "I haven't even told you to drink less alcohol yet."
Ni Sitian sighed softly, sat down on the edge of the bed, and looked at Tuantuan sleeping soundly.
She wasn't sure if it was just her imagination, but he seemed a bit cold towards her. He hung up after only a few words, and although he did tell her not to kick off the covers, well…
She's probably still angry about last night; this isn't the first time she's been interrupted like this.
Tuantuan used to be fine, willing to sleep with Aunt Qin and Aunt Liu, but since the end of last year, she seems to prefer sleeping with her mother, and I don't know why. Logically, she should become more sensible as she gets older.
"Don't make Daddy angry like that next time," Ni Sitian gently tapped Tuan Tuan's nose and said softly with a smile.
As if in response, Xiao Tuantuan pouted.
Ni Sitian smiled; he looked exactly like a miniature version of Xu Tingchuan, and was extremely cute.
Both father and son are like this, with an inexplicably strong possessiveness, which is why they are so jealous and competitive.
Forget it, she'll apologize and make amends properly when Xu Tingchuan comes back.
Ni Sitian lay down in bed and cuddled the sweet and soft dumpling to sleep.
But after a while, she still couldn't fall asleep. Actually, she was still used to being held by Xu Tingchuan while sleeping.
She opened her eyes, glanced at the alarm clock, and saw it was just 9:30, which was still quite early for an adult.
She reached for her phone again, opened it, and checked her text messages. Sure enough, he had sent a message at 10:30 a.m. informing her that she had landed safely. She should have seen it then and replied; perhaps he was waiting for her reply.
Ni Sitian reflected on her recent neglect of him and wrote a text message: Drink less alcohol and get some rest early tonight.
After she sent the message, she waited for a reply, but an hour passed without a response.
Waiting for a reply was really unpleasant; after a while, she slumped against the headboard and fell asleep.
