“With such a petty temper, won’t you have a lot of trouble in the future? Maybe tomorrow, maybe the day after, a woman like me will suddenly appear. If she wants to argue with you about these past things, once, twice, three times, endlessly, how much patience do you have to coax her?” Qin Yun elegantly picked up her cup again, took a sip, and slowly said, “She’s too serious, too pure. You two are simply not suitable for each other. Sooner or later, your feelings will be worn away by the arguments. I’m just giving you both a chance to wake up.”
Pei Yang had to admit that Qin Yun's words hit the nail on the head; he was indeed a psychologist.
“There are indeed many things we need to work out, but I don’t need this kind of opportunity.” Pei Yang stood up, walked over to the child, squatted down to play a game with him, took a few strands of hair, and then turned back to Qin Yun and said, “I will find out exactly who this child is.”
"Whatever you say, but I'm afraid there won't be enough time, and will she trust you?" Qin Yun's lips curved into a smile.
"That's between her and me, it has nothing to do with you." Pei Yang wasn't confident that Xu Jiayue would trust him, but he had to get to the bottom of this child's situation; he didn't want things to remain so unclear.
Qin Yun watched him walk out of the coffee shop, and gave a self-deprecating smile. She, who was always rational and outstanding, had done so many irrational things for this man, and all she got in return was such an irrelevant remark.
Perhaps she shouldn't have come back.
"Mommy, Mommy!" The boy ran up and grabbed Qin Yun's clothes, looking up at her and asking, "When are we going back to Qingchuan?"
"Want to go back?" Qin Yun squatted down and patted the boy's head.
"Hmm." The boy nodded, then hesitated for a moment before asking, "Mom, is he my dad?"
Qin Yun smiled and shook his head: "He's not my father."
The boy lowered his head in disappointment. Qin Yun straightened his clothes and said, "Let's go back to Qingchuan tomorrow."
"Really?" The boy looked up excitedly and said repeatedly, "Then I can play with Xiaoyu."
Pei Yang got into the car and looked at the mother and son from afar through the car window. He didn't know what they were talking about so happily. He frowned slightly and started the car.
He sent the head to the testing center, but the results wouldn't be available for a while, so he drove home first.
During this time, he called Xu Jiayue, but her phone was switched off.
Having no other option, he dialed the Xu family's landline, and the housekeeper, Wang, answered the phone.
"Miss has been staying in her room since she came back, and hasn't even eaten dinner," said Butler Wang with concern.
"Let her answer the phone and say it's Ni Sitian calling." Pei Yang had no other choice but to resort to this tactic.
About a minute later, Butler Wang picked up the phone again and said, "Young Master Pei, Miss said she's not answering; she's tired and sleeping."
"I understand. Try to persuade her to eat more." After saying that, Pei Yang put away his phone, lowered his eyes, and closed them briefly.
She's still emotional and won't even answer Ni Sitian's calls, so it seems like nothing he says will make a difference.
He needs to provide evidence that the child isn't his, otherwise the wedding might really have to be canceled.
He raised his hand to press his temples, took the ring out of his pocket, and looked down at it. Could it really be over like this?
