Chapter 1468 Complex and Difficult to Understand

After Xu Jiayue moved out of his embrace, she opened her eyes and looked at him.

She had known this person for over twenty years, so why did he suddenly seem so unfamiliar?

He had just lain down when she was subconsciously awakened, wanting to see who was lying next to her.

Even though she knew it was him, she still became inexplicably wary.

At this moment, his sleeping face shed its usual frivolous facade, appearing very quiet and peaceful, unlike the gloomy demeanor he had shown that day.

Which one is he?

Or is it all him?

He only showed her the side of himself that he was willing to show her.

Xu Jiayue looked at his eyebrows and eyes; his eyelashes were somewhat long, but not thick.

Some people say that a man with long and sparse eyelashes is both passionate and fickle, a complex and difficult-to-understand type.

She sighed softly to herself, then looked at his lips again.

His lips were somewhat thin, and the corners of his lips curved upwards naturally, giving him a half-smile when he wasn't smiling.

She lay so close to him, yet she couldn't understand him at all.

Before she could think any further, he raised his long arm and pulled her into his embrace again, as if afraid she would run away. He held her tightly, and she couldn't move away even if she wanted to.

In the end, she had no choice but to accept her fate and let him hold her like that. After a long time, she gradually fell asleep again.

She woke up after sleeping soundly for several hours.

Perhaps because her fever had just subsided, she felt a little weak. It took her a while to pry his arm off and sit up to get out of bed, but he then wrapped his arm around her waist again.

She felt uncomfortable thinking about the lie he had told her yesterday and didn't want to be close to him. When she turned around and saw that he hadn't woken up, she frowned and tried to pull his arm away again.

At this moment, Pei Yang opened his eyes, wanting to joke with her a bit, but in the dim light, her brows were furrowed, as if she didn't like his closeness.

"You're awake." Xu Jiayue sensed his gaze, concealed her emotions, and looked at him calmly.

She hid it very well. If Pei Yang hadn't seen her frown a moment ago, he probably would have thought she was ignoring him because she had a fever and wasn't feeling well.

"I'm going to wash up," Xu Jiayue reminded him to let go.

Pei Yang removed his hand from her waist and watched her get up. From her back, her shoulders slumped slightly, as if she had breathed a sigh of relief.

Could it be that she already dislikes Pei Yan because of his treatment of him?

Perhaps he was overthinking it; maybe she was just blaming him for not being there for her when she wasn't feeling well.

"Honey, shall we go to an art exhibition today? Didn't you say you wanted to see Michael's exhibition last time?" Pei Yang entered the bathroom and hugged Xu Jiayue from behind as she was brushing her teeth.

After rinsing her mouth with water, Xu Jiayue glanced at him in the mirror and said, "I have plans with Sitian and the others today."

"With them again? Can't you spare me a day of your precious holiday?" Pei Yang lowered his head to kiss her neck, but felt her flinch.

Whether it was intentional or not, the dodging motion seemed to be just to grab the towel.

"It's already agreed." After washing her face with a towel, Xu Jiayue applied a hot towel to her face. After a while, she revealed one eye and suddenly said, "Who told you to work so much overtime? I thought I'd have to work overtime again today."

Pei Yang felt that these words seemed to have a hidden meaning, or perhaps they were just blaming him for not spending time with her yesterday.

Did she find out something?

But given her personality, it's impossible for her to ignore it once she finds out.
