Chapter 1664, Side Story 174: A Close Call

Xu Ziyu quickly grabbed Xin Chun, who was incredibly strong and seemed to be going crazy.

Luo Xikui was horrified. The knife tip kept swaying back and forth, and she couldn't help but call out, "Tuantuan, be careful!"

Xu Ziyu frowned and twisted Xin Chun's hand, but Xin Chun broke free of her restraints and suddenly rushed towards Luo Xikui, who was not far away!

Xu Ziyu lunged forward to subdue her, but his left knee couldn't keep up with his body's reaction. Just as the knife was about to stab Luo Xikui, he only managed to tug at Xin Chun's skirt.

In a split second of terrifying speed, a gunshot rang out, hitting the blade. The tip of the knife flew off, and the hilt was also jolted from Xin Chun's hand. Xin Chun fell to the ground, and Xu Ziyu also fell to the ground.

Luo Xikui was still in shock when Xiang Hengxi rushed over and subdued Xin Chun.

A group of plainclothes police officers surrounded her, and Xin Chun was handcuffed.

"Xiao Kui, what's going on?" Xiang Hengxi put away his gun and half-embraced, half-carried Luo Xi Kui, who had collapsed to the ground in fright.

"Brother, brother." Luo Xikui hugged Xiang Hengxi, sobbing, "Uncle Xin is dead, right here in the house, Xin Chun has gone mad."

"Okay, I understand, I'll handle it," Xiang Hengxi said softly to Luo Xikui.

The police escorted the gang that had been arrested for smuggling weapons into a police car, and took Xin Chun with them. They also contacted the Major Crimes Unit to handle the murder case.

Xiang Hengxi dismissed his men and helped Luo Xikui to her feet. He then glanced at Xu Ziyu, who had just stood up, and asked, "Ayu, are you alright?"

When Xu Ziyu lunged forward recklessly, he fell and hit his left knee. He was in so much pain that he was almost trembling, but he endured it without showing it and just shook his head.

Xiang Hengxi turned his gaze back to his younger sister and, seeing that her legs seemed unable to move, simply picked her up.

Xu Ziyu watched as Xiang Hengxi picked her up so easily, but he couldn't do it. He endured the pain, walked to the car, and opened the back door.

Xiang Hengxi put Luo Xikui inside, and Xu Ziyu followed and sat down.

Xiang Hengxi got into the driver's seat, started the car, and took them to the hospital.

Luo Xikui was lucky; she only sprained her ankle and suffered a minor fracture after jumping from the second floor. She just needed to rest for a while.

Xu Ziyu was not so lucky; his knee problem was much more serious than hers, but he didn't let the doctor tell them.

"A two-person ward is just right for you two," Xiang Hengxi said with a joke as he looked around the ward.

Luo Xikui's face remained deathly pale, and she hadn't recovered yet, still trembling.

"You two rest. I still have some follow-up matters to handle. The police will be coming to take statements tomorrow. Call me if anything happens." Xiang Hengxi stood between the two beds. After speaking, seeing that his younger sister was still in shock, he simply pushed the beds together and then said to Xu Ziyu, "Ayu, take good care of your future wife."

Xu Ziyu nodded and reached out to grasp Xiang Hengxi's hand.

Xiang Hengxi had nothing more to say, so he left the ward and closed the door.

Luo Xikui kept clinging to him, so Xu Ziyu turned and pulled her into his arms.

"Tuantuan, it's so scary! Uncle Xin is on the bed, his face is all pale, he's so cold..." Luo Xikui was so frightened that she couldn't speak coherently, and she tightly grabbed Xu Ziyu's clothes.

Xu Ziyu gently stroked her shoulder and back to comfort her, and whispered, "It's alright, it's all over now. I'm here with you, I'll protect you..."
