Xiang Hengxi walked over, put the lunchbox on the bedside table, looked down at Jing An'an, and his brows furrowed involuntarily.
At this moment, the redness on Jing An'an's face had faded, and her small face was particularly fair and clean. Her skin was very thin and had a translucent quality. She had a small nose, a small mouth, thick and curled eyelashes, and even some baby fat on her cheeks.
Just how young were these kids crammed into their group? They probably aren't even in university yet! Shouldn't they be studying hard at such a young age?
Xiang Hengxi looked left and right but couldn't figure out what his superiors were thinking. He couldn't help but wonder if they had gotten in through back channels.
“Water…” Jing An’an’s eyelashes trembled slightly, and her mouth moved slightly.
Her voice was very low, and Xiang Hengxi could only hear it when he leaned closer. He got up and went to the water dispenser to pour her a glass of water.
He had never done any caring work before; he simply helped her up, put the cup to her lips, and fed her, resulting in drool dripping down her chin.
Jing An'an choked twice and woke up. After opening her big, dark eyes, she looked at the person next to her warily. When she saw that it was Xiang Hengxi, her wariness did not lessen. Instead, she became extremely tense.
This wasn't the training ground, and Xiang Hengxi felt a little apologetic looking at this delicate girl. He awkwardly touched his nose, coughed lightly, and asked, "How are you feeling?"
Jing An'an's pale face was tense, and she spoke in an extremely hoarse voice: "I'm fine."
Xiang Hengxi frowned, realizing that her voice didn't sound like she was alright.
Jing An'an was just like her name suggested; she was very quiet. He didn't speak, and neither did she.
Xiang Hengxi felt that her appearance was particularly mismatched with a tense face, like a child pretending to be an adult.
"Why didn't you say you had a fever this afternoon? Don't you know you can take leave? This is the military, not a battlefield. The officers aren't unreasonable." Xiang Hengxi said, looking into her eyes.
Jing An'an's dark eyes were particularly expressive, a hint of emotion flashing within them, as if to say, "Aren't you the most unreasonable one?"
Xiang Hengxi understood the meaning in her eyes and felt helpless and amused. This girl probably resented him, and his show of force seemed to have gone too far.
After a moment of silence, he handed her the water in his hand and asked, "Would you like some more? Or would you like some food?"
As those words fell, Jing An'an's stomach began to rumble.
Xiang Hengxi smiled: "Looks like it's time for dinner."
He opened the lunchbox on the bedside table. It had four layers: two dishes, a soup, and rice. The menu was quite complete, including corn and pork bone soup, scrambled eggs with tomatoes, and steamed small yellow croaker.
The small infirmary was immediately filled with the aroma of food. Jing An'an was very hungry, but she didn't pick up her chopsticks right away.
She looked at Xiang Hengxi and felt something was strange. The man she knew now seemed like a completely different person from the one who had yelled at her sternly on the playground.
"Eat up, do you want me to feed you?" Xiang Hengxi handed her the chopsticks and loosened them slightly.
Jing An'an took the bowl, but still didn't say anything. She picked up the rice bowl and lowered her head to eat the rice first.
"Have some soup first, it'll warm your stomach and help with digestion," Xiang Hengxi said.
Jing An'an looked around and realized there was no spoon. How could she drink the soup? She ignored him and continued eating.
Just then, the voices of Dr. Wang and Xiaomei talking came from outside. Looking up, they saw the two of them enter the infirmary.
