Chapter 17 An Unexpected Encounter

Ni Sitian reached out and hooked her arm around Xu Tingchuan's neck, stood on tiptoe, and kissed his cheek.

Xu Tingchuan felt a soft touch lightly brush against his face and was slightly taken aback. This was the first time Ni Sitian had taken the initiative to express closeness.

After kissing Xu Tingchuan, Ni Sitian's palms were sweating nervously. She felt it would be a bit abrupt and awkward not to say something, so she said, "Come back soon."

Xu Tingchuan's gaze softened slightly. He raised his hand and gently patted Ni Sitian's head, replying, "Okay."

The atmosphere subtly improved, and Ni Sitian grew bolder, tilting her head back and saying, "I've prepared dinner and am waiting for you."

Xu Tingchuan raised an eyebrow slightly, as if he doubted that he had misheard.

Ni Sitian realized what she had just said, and her scalp tingled, but she could only grit her teeth and say, "A simple three dishes and a soup is no problem."

Xu Tingchuan narrowed his eyes, his voice tinged with amusement: "Then I'll wait and see."

After watching Xu Tingchuan enter the elevator, Ni Sitian raised her hand and patted her forehead, cursing herself for being stupid and showing off.

But the words have already been spoken, and we can't take them back. Besides, we need to show sincerity if we want to make up.

Since that's the case, let's go all out and do it!

After adjusting herself, Ni Sitian went into the bathroom to wash up, then had breakfast, and began tidying up the house.

She put all her packed luggage back in its original place.

After quickly tidying up, I went to school for two classes in the afternoon.

It was already past 4 p.m. when I got back, so I went straight to the supermarket near my apartment complex to buy groceries.

Ni Sitian pushed her shopping cart and strolled slowly through the vegetable section. Thinking that Xu Tingchuan seemed to have been socializing a lot lately, she wanted to give him some nourishment. The yam and pork rib stew that her mother taught her to make at noon seemed pretty good, so she casually picked up two iron yams.

At the same time, a pair of large hands picked up two iron yams. Ni Sitian looked up and saw that Li Shaoan was also pushing a shopping cart.

“Brother-in-law.” Ni Sitian greeted Li Shaoan with slight surprise. He was her cousin Ni Tianzhen’s husband.

When Li Shaoan saw Ni Sitian, he was visibly taken aback, his expression becoming somewhat unnatural. He chuckled twice and asked, "Buying groceries?"

“Mmm,” Ni Sitian nodded in response, glanced at Li Shaoan’s shopping cart, which was full of ingredients, and then smiled and teased, “You’re making delicious food for your sister again, what a devoted husband.”

Li Shaoan forced a couple more laughs, greeted Ni Sitian, and then hurriedly left.

As Ni Sitian watched Li Shaoan's retreating figure, she suddenly felt that something was off, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.

It was quite a coincidence; she and her brother-in-law didn't see each other very often, yet they'd already bumped into each other twice in this area this month. The first time was just a few days ago, and he even paid for her meal. And now, just a few days later, they'd run into each other again.

Ni Sitian paused as she pushed the cart. Something seemed amiss. Her cousin and her husband lived in the west of the city, while this was the east. Why would they be buying groceries here?

Moreover, Li Shaoan's expression just now seemed a bit strange. Ni Sitian frowned, vaguely sensing something was amiss. She remembered that Zhang Yijia had given her ten million. To be precise, Zhang Yijia intended to give this ten million to a Miss Ni, whose surname was also Ni...

No, no, that can't be.

Ni Sitian shook her head, denying it to herself. Li Shaoan and her cousin had been dating since high school, and now they had been married for two years, which meant they had been together for seven years. They had always been sweet and loving, so how could such a thing happen?

Zhang Yijia even got the person's name wrong, so it's quite possible she got the surname wrong as well.

Ni Sitian tried to convince herself, and although she still felt something was off, she continued to push the cart to buy groceries.
