Chapter 387 Importing a New Child

Seeing Ni Sitian standing alone by the window, Xu Tingchuan walked over.

He saw her crying through the window. He frowned slightly, turned her around, lifted her chin, and confirmed that she was indeed crying.

He cupped her cheeks and wiped away her tears, asking softly and urgently, "What happened?"

Ni Sitian looked up at Xu Tingchuan, and her tears flowed even more fiercely. She wrapped her arms around Xu Tingchuan's waist and leaned against him, wanting to draw strength from him.

Xu Tingchuan gently patted her back, unsure how to comfort her, so he could only stay quietly by her side.

After a while, Ni Sitian stopped crying and lifted her head from his embrace.

Xu Tingchuan gently touched her tear stains, looking at her with tender eyes, "Would you like to tell me?"

Ni Sitian pursed her lips, finding it somewhat difficult to speak.

He didn't urge him, but waited quietly.

“I called my dad.” Ni Sitian pursed her lips, her eyes reddening again, and she spoke somewhat incoherently: “I don’t know why he always says hurtful things. I don’t know what I did wrong. If he dislikes me so much, why didn’t he just abandon me in the first place…”

Xu Tingchuan pulled her back into his arms, gently patted her back, and softly comforted her: "You did nothing wrong. If anyone is wrong, it's him. People can't choose their parents, but you can choose whether or not to take his words to heart. Since he doesn't care about you at all, why should you take him to heart?"

Ni Sitian knew this principle in her heart, but on such a festive day, she was just making a phone call to wish someone a Happy New Year, but she was met with ridicule from her father. How could she not be sad and care?

"We're about to have New Year's Eve dinner. If your eyes are swollen from crying, it'll be hard for me and them to explain." Xu Tingchuan lifted her face back up, deliberately changing the subject.

Ni Sitian sniffed, held back her tears, and forced a smile at Xu Tingchuan, "I'm going to wash my face."

Xu Tingchuan patted her head. "Go ahead."

After Ni Sitian composed herself, she heard Jia Yue calling for dinner from downstairs.

The two then went downstairs hand in hand. Once everyone was there, they could start their New Year's Eve dinner.

Xu Haicheng brought out several bottles of good wine and poured them for everyone. Even Jin Rulan had a few drinks, which was quite rare for her.

After having a few drinks, Jin Rulan seemed to have shed some of her seriousness and rigidity; her cheeks were slightly flushed, and her appearance looked much softer.

"I hope there will be two more people in our family next year, three would be even better." Jin Rulan was probably a little drunk, resting her chin on her hand and looking at Xu Jiayue and Ni Sitian.

The implication of these words is that she wants Sitian to give her a grandson or granddaughter so that Jiayue can get married next year and bring her back with her, preferably giving her another grandson.

Ni Sitian blushed, unsure how to respond to Jin Rulan's words, and looked at Xu Tingchuan pleadingly.

Xu Tingchuan smiled faintly and made no comment.

After Xu Jiayue finished her drink, she said to Jin Rulan and Xu Haicheng, "Dad, Mom, if you still want to give me a younger brother or sister, I'd be more than happy to oblige!"

puff!

Ni Sitian almost choked; only Xu Jiayue in this family could make such a joke.

Xu Haicheng laughed heartily, turning his gaze to Jin Rulan with a hint of tenderness in his eyes.

Jin Rulan turned her eyes away, her expression losing its previous gentleness and becoming icy cold again.
