Chapter 461 Under Investigation

Ni Sitian, standing at the door, heard Ni Tianzhen's sorrowful cries and knew that Li Shaoan had already passed away.

She couldn't help but sob along with them, feeling a tightness in her chest from the discomfort.

After a while, the doctor came and advised them to leave, as they needed to complete some procedures.

Ni Sitian helped Ni Tianzhen outside. Ni Tianzhen stopped crying and sat on a bench in the corridor like a lifeless doll.

Seeing her like this, Ni Sitian felt even more upset, but she had to deal with some aftermath.

We need to notify Li Shaoan's parents and arrange for his temporary placement in the morgue.

After she finished her work and returned to the operating room, Ni Tianzhen was still in a daze.

She sat down beside her, put her arm around her shoulder, and said in a hoarse voice, "Sister, it's okay to cry if you want to."

Ni Tianzhen didn't react at all, her gaze fixed on something unreadable.

After Jiang Yiyi came out of Zhang Yijia's ward, she saw the two of them and sneered. Did they think that was the end of it?

The doctor just came out and informed us that Zhang Yijia's fully formed baby is gone. This matter is far from simple.

Ni Sitian felt a malicious gaze. She looked up and saw Jiang Yiyi looking at them with a mocking expression.

Two lives have been lost. Just how cold-hearted must this woman, who's been watching the spectacle, be to show such an expression?

A short while later, the police came out of Zhang Yijia's hospital room and then walked towards Ni Sitian and the others.

"Ms. Ni, please come with us to the police station to assist with the investigation," the police officer said to Ni Sitian and her companion with a stern expression.

"Haven't we already taken their statements?" Ni Sitian frowned slightly, wondering why they needed to be taken back to the police station.

"Please go to the police station to assist with the investigation." The officer didn't answer her question, but instead repeated this sentence.

“Officer, if needed, I’d be happy to cooperate with you to go to the police station to give another statement,” Jiang Yiyi suddenly said from the side.

Even if Ni Sitian was slow to realize that something was wrong, she asked the police, "My cousin was also injured in the accident just now. Could you let me go and assist with the investigation?"

The two police officers exchanged a glance, obtained Ni Tianzhen's injury diagnosis from the doctor, and then agreed to Ni Sitian's request.

Ni Sitian was naturally worried about leaving Ni Tianzhen alone in the hospital, so she notified her uncle and aunt to come over.

After everything was arranged, Ni Sitian, Jiang Yiyi, and the two doctors got into the police car.

Ni Sitian looked at Jiang Yiyi, who raised her chin slightly and responded with a contemptuous sneer.

Upon arriving at the police station, they were each taken into an interrogation room.

Ni Sitian felt very uncomfortable sitting in the dark and small interrogation room. The two police officers opposite her had sharp eyes and were interrogating her like a criminal.

"Ms. Ni, at noon today, you and your cousin Ni Tianzhen had an argument with Ms. Zhang Yijia in the stairwell on the third floor of the city hospital, is that right?" the police officer asked sternly.

“It wasn’t an argument, it was just Ms. Zhang being unreasonable on her own. We’ve always wanted to avoid getting involved with her.” Ni Sitian felt there was a trap in the question, so she answered very cautiously.

"What happened after Mr. Li came in? Did you two push or shove each other?"

“At the time, Zhang Yijia was emotionally unstable and started hitting people randomly. I went forward to try to stop her, but she pushed me away and I almost fell down the stairs. My cousin Ni Tianzhen pulled me up, but Zhang Yijia pushed her down instead. Li Shaoan pushed Zhang Yijia away because he wanted to protect my cousin.” Ni Sitian recounted the incident in detail.

The police officer narrowed his eyes slightly, seemingly questioning them, and then inquired about the relationship between the group.
