Chapter 479 A Medical Record

After having afternoon tea with Xiang Zhilan, Ni Sitian returned home carrying a stack of books.

I organized my books on the small bookshelf, then took out my pregnancy diary, sat cross-legged on the sofa, and ate some snacks while flipping through it.

This pregnancy diary is very interesting. It's published in comic book format and details her journey from not being pregnant to taking a pregnancy test, and then telling her husband. Reading this book, you can feel the joy of this female celebrity bringing life into the world.

Before she knew it, she had almost finished reading the book, a faint, happy smile on her lips, as if she could feel the same way.

Just as she was engrossed in watching, her phone rang. It was a call from Xu Tingchuan.

He said he wouldn't be home for dinner that night because he had an important meeting, and that he had a sample document on a USB drive on his desk that he had forgotten to take. He asked her to go to his study and email him the contents of the USB drive.

“Okay, I guarantee I’ll complete the task,” Ni Sitian said to him with a playful smile.

After hanging up the phone, Xu Tingchuan pursed his lips, looking thoughtful.

Ni Sitian put down the book, got up and walked towards Xu Tingchuan's study, but did not find the USB drive he mentioned on his desk.

So she opened the drawer and rummaged through it, finding the USB drive in the second drawer from the left.

A slight smile played on her lips as she took out the USB drive and inadvertently noticed a medical record at the bottom of the folder.

Her smile vanished, and her brows furrowed slightly. Was he sick? When did this happen? How come she didn't know?

Full of questions, Ni Sitian pulled the medical record out of the folder.

It was a medical record from the city hospital. She opened it immediately, feeling a little nervous and worried, hoping it was just a routine physical examination.

She flipped through the first two pages and everything seemed normal. But on the third page, she pulled out a piece of paper that was tucked inside. When she opened it, her face turned pale instantly.

She suspected she had misread the diagnosis, staring at it repeatedly until she confirmed the patient's identity.

She couldn't help but cover her lips, her eyes suddenly reddening, her eyelashes trembling rapidly.

How could this be? How could this happen?

No, it won't.

Ni Sitian shook her head, not believing the case file; there must be some mistake somewhere!

Just as tears were about to spill from her eyes, her phone rang again; it was Xu Tingchuan calling once more.

"Hello." Ni Sitian's voice was a little tight, and she was trying hard to suppress her sobs so that Xu Tingchuan wouldn't notice.

Xu Tingchuan knew perfectly well that she had already seen the thing he had prepared for her, but he pretended not to know anything and said in his usual voice, "Have you found the USB drive? We're in a bit of a rush, so please send it to me quickly."

Ni Sitian snapped out of her daze, glanced at the USB drive she had placed on the table, and replied, "Okay, I'll transfer it over right away."

Xu Tingchuan hung up the phone, lowered his eyes, and gripped his phone tightly. This was the least hurtful thing he could think of for her.

Ni Sitian put the medical record down, turned on Xu Tingchuan's computer, and sent him the document via email.

After sending the message, she didn't close the webpage. Instead, she checked her browsing history and saw what Xu Tingchuan had in his browsing history. Only then did she have to believe the information on the medical record.

With trembling hands, she closed the webpage and put the medical record back.

Her face was still pale. After leaving Xu Tingchuan's study, she went into her own small study and used her computer to look up the illness. The more she looked, the worse her complexion became.

No wonder Xu Tingchuan had been subtly hinting that they should have children later or not at all. So that's how it all was.

Yet she kept pleading for the child in front of him; weren't her words like knives stabbing into his heart?
