Chapter 162 A Flaw in the Perfection

Although he's saved some money from his allowances and bonuses in the army over the years, he's already 30 and still not married. I can't let him spend that money. So I'm thinking of buying a cheap, secondhand TV to keep an eye on things, and then buying a real one when color TV coupons are no longer needed and TVs are cheaper.

Gu Wei was moved by Chu Baisheng's filial piety and felt that the old man was a good elder who knew how to care for and understand people.

"Grandpa Chu, your plan is excellent. When color TVs become more and more cost-effective and don't require coupons, it will be the best time to buy them."

When Grandpa Chu saw that Gu Wei agreed with his plan, his face immediately broke into a wide smile, his wrinkles deepening.

After everyone left, Gu Hongjie quietly asked the question that had been bothering him.

"They were doing so well, why lay them off? I feel so bad for them..."

Regarding this issue, Gu Wei only looked up some information; he wouldn't know the specifics, so he could only give some written reasons.

Later, whether he was genuinely sleepy or Gu Wei's voice had a hypnotic effect, Gu Hongjie closed his eyes and fell asleep.

Gu Wei stared at Gu Hongjie for a while, and then he yawned too.

Although they didn't fall asleep together, they woke up at almost the same time.

Gu Hongjie was still a little dazed at first and didn't know where he was.

Gu Wei, itching to touch his messy short hair, tried to bring him back to his senses.

After that, they packed up and went out again.

Ke Yi and the other two had clearly had a good sleep and were in much better condition than when they got off the bus.

Gu Wei led a few people around the provincial capital, where they ate a lot of delicious food and watched a movie.

In the dimly lit cinema, the foreign film "Superman" was playing on the big screen.

Although Gu Wei had seen several versions of Superman, he still thought this one was very well made.

Superman, wearing a blue bodysuit, a red cape, and his underwear on the outside, looks like a cool hero flying in the sky.

However, Superman's new costume no longer has this feature; instead, it features a red belt.

Gu Hongjie sat to his left, completely absorbed in the plot, and didn't even bother to drink the Jianlibao in his hand.

Gu Wei then turned to look at Lin Hang and the others on his right.

They noticed that Lin Hang and Gu Hongjie had almost the same focused expression, with half a piece of popped rice in their mouths and not moving at all.

Lin Yu was also watching the movie intently, while Ke Yi had his arms crossed and his head down as if he were asleep.

Lin Yu noticed out of the corner of her eye that Gu Wei had turned his head away, and then secretly wiped her eyes with the back of her hand. Being able to sit with Gu Wei to watch a movie, even if it wasn't just the two of them, made her feel extremely satisfied and without any regrets.

After the movie ended, they walked out with the crowd.

Gu Hongjie and Lin Hang discussed it with great interest.

"Why do you think Superman wears his red underwear on the outside?"

"Probably because nobody washes Superman's underwear."

Gu Wei almost burst out laughing when he heard that.

After sending the three of them back to the guesthouse, Gu Hongjie was still thinking on the way back.

"Why do you think Superman wears his underwear on the outside?"

Gu Wei answered seriously, "Because the biggest difference between an ordinary person and a superhero is that one wears it inside and the other wears it outside; one is cool inside and the other is cool outside."

Unfortunately, Gu Hongjie didn't understand puns, and opened his mouth to repeat, "Underwear? Outerwear?"
