Chapter Seventy-Eight: The Unexpected Package

Those experiences of hunger are etched into their very bones, and some of their habits may stay with them for the rest of their lives.

Once opened, the neatly arranged pastries exude an enticing sheen and a sweet aroma, making one's mouth water.

The three of them breathed a sigh of relief.

Gu Wei urged them to try it, but no one touched it.

He didn't rush to read the letter, but instead continued to unzip his bag and take things out.

Upon seeing that Gu Wei had bought a large amount of stuff again, Gu Jianguo couldn't help but complain, "You child, why are you buying us things again!"

Li Guizhi chimed in, "That's right, can we really buy it every time we go on a long trip? It makes us feel embarrassed!"

Gu Wei listened with a smile, "What's wrong with that? I'm going on a long trip, and you guys are responsible for watching over the business at home. Isn't it normal to buy something as a token of appreciation?"

Having spent a long time with Gu Wei, Gu Jianguo and Li Guizhi understood his personality and character, so they stopped saying anything.

"Dajiang's wife's tailor shop is almost finished with renovations. They're planning to open it on a good day once they get the business license. Yuanzi and Dazi took some of the watches you left behind... Li Bin came by a few times, but left quickly when he saw you weren't there..."

Gu Wei nodded repeatedly as he listened, and asked with concern, "Have my great-aunt's relatives not come over again?"

Gu Jianguo and the others frowned. "They came, and even brought Zhang Chunqin to apologize to us! What a pipe dream! We chased them all away!"

"Lin Hang's stepmother also came. Lin Yu is really something; she got yelled at and chased away without us even having to help her..."

Once Gu Wei was certain that his grandfather and the others hadn't suffered any losses or been angered, he was completely relieved.

Once he got back to his room, he tore open a corner of the envelope.

He unfolded two sheets of paper filled with small regular script and began to read them carefully.
