Chapter 50: The supporter doesn’t want her to like others…

Chapter 50: The supporter doesn’t want her to like others…

As time passed, she vaguely felt that Jin Yunyan had changed a lot from before. He was no longer as cold and unrestrained as before. Now he had a more mature temperament and was more aggressive.

And those seemingly plausible words dangled in front of her like hooks with bait, as if to lure her to take a bite.

But Bo Xia still looked at him with a relieved smile, as if saying goodbye to her youth.

Sometimes she wondered, could someone really have a crush on someone for ten years? It seemed unlikely.

When she was young, she was always full of enthusiasm. She thought that liking someone was a lifelong thing, that the love could be overcome by mountains and seas, and that life was only about romance. It was not until she became an adult and faced a more complex world that she realized that what was more important than love was to find herself first.

So even if she had some feelings, that was all.

Bo Xia was about to take a taxi back, but the guy who was revealed to have a crush on her at the party still chased after her. He originally wanted to see if there was still a chance, but when he saw the two of them standing together, especially when Jin Yunyan happened to look up at him, he left in embarrassment.

Jin Yunyan looked at her and said, "I'll take you home."

She lied and said she had taken a taxi and didn't need him to take her there.

As if he could see through her thoughts, he said lightly, "Are you trying to avoid me?"

Bo Xia wasn't avoiding him on purpose, she was just subconsciously keeping a distance from him, especially after she had just said those words.

She suddenly felt a little embarrassed and could only explain: "I'm not trying to hide from you."

"Then take my car."

He took out the car keys, and after being stared at by him for a long time, she finally followed him.

Jin Yunyan didn't say anything else along the way, as if he was just sending his classmate home normally. When they arrived, he casually mentioned, "It seems like you used to be this quiet, like you had your own world."

She was curious about what she was like from his perspective, but she didn't ask. She just said, "You have your own world, right? Only Zhou Suiye is a little close to you."

Jin Yunyan laughed: "Are you saying that I'm not sociable?"

"..." She said helplessly, "Where can I get it?"

Perhaps because of such jokes, the atmosphere between the two people became much more relaxed.

Yes, there are no twisted and awkward emotions between adults. Even if there were some entanglements in the past, they can still face each other calmly now.

Thinking this, Bo Xia got out of the car and said goodbye to him.

She felt much more relaxed, as if a lot of weight had been lifted off her shoulders, but Jin Yunyan, who was still sitting in the car, didn't feel that way.

The lighter ignited with a "click" sound, illuminating his eyes. Jin Yunyan squinted his eyes and exhaled smoke. After a while, he placed his thin knuckles on the car window, letting the cigarette burn.

That unclear period of youth seemed like a distant summer movie, now replaying before his eyes.

After his parents divorced, his father quickly remarried. Young and reckless, he couldn't stand Jin Xingzhou's provocation and resorted to violence. He was so arrogant at the time, completely disregarding the restraints of others, and even smiled gently afterward, looking like a dangerous person.

So his father decided to send him to Nan'an, and his stepmother's dissuasion was of no avail.

Only when he was with his grandparents did Jin Yunyan become much more restrained.

But even though he was in the small town, his heart was never there, so as Bo Xia said, he was not a sociable person.

Because he knew from the beginning that he did not belong to Nan'an and that he was going back to his mother, he did not make any friends during that short period of time.

People around him were almost afraid to approach him. Even though he was gentle and polite, he was too distant. As one of his classmates later said, although he was always helping his classmates and always responded to any request that was not too excessive, it always seemed that he never looked anyone in the eye.

He said no at that time, but he knew better than anyone that he was indeed a cold-blooded person at heart.

Many times he helps others simply because of his upbringing, nothing more.

Only Zhou Suiye was close to him, and because of Zhou Suiye, he occasionally interacted with Bo Xia and Wen Xin, and even thought about taking care of the person his friend liked. But at that time, Zhou Suiye and Bo Xia were very close, and he never thought that the person Bo Xia liked would be him.

If he hadn't actually seen his name in her diary, he probably would never have believed this ridiculous thing in his opinion.

What was he thinking at that time?

Maybe I got used to it after a moment of surprise.

There were so many people who liked him, so many that he had become accustomed to it. Although he was young at the time, he was mature and knew better than anyone that those likes were just the first feelings of adolescence, either admiration or some kind of illusion, which was different from love.

Instead, he suspected that he was hindering the development of Bo Xia and Zhou Sui Ye.

Jin Yunyan chuckled, but why did his mind change now? He didn't want her to like the same thing as other people.

Bo Xia didn't think so much.

When she heard that Wen Xin was returning to China, she went to the airport to pick her up. The two hadn't seen each other for so long, Wen Xin hugged her as soon as she saw her, almost knocking her over.

After coming out and getting in a taxi, Wen Xin asked her if she had considered buying a car. She thought for a moment and said, "I'll buy one when I settle down."

"Okay, leave the co-pilot to me."

Bo Xia arranged the restaurant. On the way there, Wen Xin kept saying that she had lost weight and must not have taken good care of herself in the past few years. She shook her head and said that was not the case.

But in fact, she has been under too much pressure in the past two years, and the number on the scale has been decreasing.

"What are your plans after you come back?"

Wen Xin thought for a moment and said, "Let's open a studio. I'll become rich and support you when the time comes."

In order to accompany Wen Xin, Bo Xia stayed in the same hotel with her. Perhaps because they hadn't seen each other for so long, they had endless things to talk about.

It wasn't until three in the morning that Bo Xia couldn't stand it anymore: "I'm sleepy."

"Don't be sleepy, I haven't asked you about your relationship with Jin Yunyan yet."

"Nothing."

"I don't believe it."

She yawned, closed her eyes and said weakly, "I met him at a class reunion some time ago, and I confessed my love to him."

“…?” Wen Xin knew that Bo Xia’s personality hadn’t become as dull as before in the past two years, but this was too much of a change. So direct?

In her mind, since Bo Xia was so direct, wouldn't the relationship between the two of them necessarily develop according to the plot of an idol drama?

So Wen Xin asked, "And then, did he accept it?"

She shook her head.

"Then... you agree?"

Bo Xia shook his head again.

“…” What’s going on? Is Jin Yunyan fishing?

"I just told him that I liked him in the past, but I've let it go now, and asked him not to take it to heart."

After saying this, Bo Xia really didn't have the energy to talk to her anymore and fell asleep within seconds. Wen Xin, who was still struggling with jet lag, looked at her with admiration. She had never seen anyone like her before.

What would she confess if it was her turn?

Isn’t there a saying that goes like this? Only children express their feelings, while adults need temptation. And there are three modes of “adult temptation”: turning into a cat, turning into a tiger, and turning into a dog drenched in rain. [1]

What a fool, Wen thought.

But if she wasn't such a complete fool, she wouldn't be Bo Xia, so people around her would be willing to love her.

Fortunately, the next day was not Monday, so Bo Xia was able to get enough sleep.

After spending a happy weekend with friends, Bo Xia had to start her hard work again. As architects, they often had to run back and forth between the construction site and the office, communicating with the owner and inspecting the progress of the project.

He was so busy that he couldn't even take a break before the New Year, but when Bo Xia saw the short vacation, his first reaction was relief.

She didn't know when it started, but home was no longer the harbor she wanted to dock, but instead became a den of danger. Or perhaps, she had no home in the first place.

When she received a message from her father asking about her New Year plans, she replied that she was busy with work and did not read the message again.

Picking up the plan and her coat from the chair, Bo Xia stood up and went to the meeting at Wansheng. The design plan was still being refined, and she needed to discuss and revise it with Wansheng several times before finalizing the version.

This was not the first meeting, so Bo Xia was naturally familiar with it.

After she explained the specifics of her proposal, she encountered some disagreements with the client's department during the post-conference discussion. In the past, she would have tried to find a compromise, but this time, she held on to her own ideas. After all, blindly compromising doesn't always lead to good results, and she had to retain her ideal design throughout the project.

She and the person she was dealing with each had their own opinions, and neither of them was willing to give in.

After several rounds of discussion, there was still no result. Bo Xia was about to say something when he looked towards the exit behind him.

The figure that she was very familiar with walked in. Jin Yunyan, who rarely asked about this matter on weekdays, actually walked into the meeting room. The person next to him bent down to report some situations to him. He listened indifferently with his legs crossed.

When she looked at him, he suddenly raised his eyes, and his deep eyes suddenly fell on her. He seemed to be still listening to the people around him, but his eyes did not move away from her for a moment.

She was slightly distracted, but soon remembered what she had just wanted to say. Even though Jin Yunyan was in front of her, she still said politely: "If we change it, it will be difficult to achieve the original effect, and it will be difficult to implement. I think I am a little more professional in architecture, so why not reconsider my idea."

Bo Xia's words appeared modest on the surface, but they carried a hint of arrogance.

It just so happened that she was wearing a black turtleneck sweater today, and she looked so imposing that people almost subconsciously wanted to agree with what she said.

Although the other party had been shaken, he still didn't want to listen to Bo Xia's opinion because of his face. He happened to see Jin Yunyan sitting in the back. The man thought he was there to support his subordinates, so he asked -

"Mr. Jin, what do you think?"

Jin Yunyan had only listened halfway, and she was still looking at him with her confidence and persistence. A faint smile appeared in his eyes, and he said, "I'm also an outsider in this area. I think since our company has already handed the project to Architect Bo, we should choose to trust her at some point."

Once these words were spoken, others naturally stopped objecting.

Bo Xia looked at Jin Yunyan with some surprise, but that emotion quickly dissipated. She had already figured out how to maintain her composure, which involved having another member of the team play a supporting role. She hadn't expected Jin Yunyan to play that role.

She sat back in her seat to sort out the documents. She smelled the cigarette smoke of the person next to her and coughed, frowning subconsciously.

The man not far away noticed it and looked up at the man, but the man didn't understand the implication of Jin Yunyan's words and handed him a cigarette to light it.

Jin Yunyan raised his hand and coldly blocked his subordinate's action.

His tone was full of undeniable meaning: "Put out the cigarette, and be more careful indoors next time."
