Chapter 16 About Snatching People

Chapter 16 About Snatching People

"Does English whisky possess supernatural powers?"

The leader of the Port Mafia is in surprisingly good spirits today.

He left his bed after a long absence, sat in his wheelchair, and was pushed by his newly appointed private doctor to the window, where he looked down at Yokohama bathed in orange light.

Upon hearing the unexpected news, the old man gestured for Mori Ougai to push him over.

The old man looked at the officer, a colonel, who was reporting to him with a sinister gaze.

"Yes, Chief. Nomura said the ten-man leader of the Black Lizards was sniped. England Whiskey was hit in the head and fell to the ground on the spot. There was an explosion after that."

"But when they were searching for the body, they found England, who should have been dead, standing there unharmed."

At the end, the old man took a deep breath, and his cloudy eyes lit up. He loudly asked the colonel again:

"You're saying he's come back to life?!"

He stood up very quickly.

However, the prolonged bed rest caused him to become dizzy, and the thin old man was forced to fall backward back into his wheelchair.

In the past, the old man would fly into a rage when faced with this situation.

But now, upon learning that the timid boy from England might possess the supernatural ability to resurrect, he reacted as if injected with a tranquilizer, showing no negative emotions whatsoever. He simply asked immediately:

"And now? Where's the English whisky now? Bring it to me right now!!"

He almost screamed the last part of his words.

As the old man spoke, Mori Ōgai's heart sank deeper and deeper, standing behind the leader.

Just before he was summoned to the leader's side, English Whiskey had visited his office.

Now, barring any unforeseen circumstances, he is the last person in the entire Port Mafia to have contact with the boy.

After completing the mission with his team, the blond boy at the center of the conversation hurriedly went to his office and told the girl who was with Dazai-kun.

He had urgent business to attend to with Barbaresco, who was out of contact, and to ensure that he could take care of the silver that had been left behind. After that, he left quickly.

It's dusk now, but Mori Ogai hasn't seen any more English whisky yet.

Mr. England, you've really given Silver and me a lot of trouble.

As if sensing Mori Ougai's thoughts, the colonel stared intently at the black-haired doctor standing behind the leader before reporting to him:

"Chief, according to Yamada's report from the medical department, England Whiskey left the building after visiting Dr. Mori's office and his whereabouts are currently unknown."

The old man's sharp gaze immediately turned to the doctor who stood silently behind him.

"Do you know where he went, Dr. Mori?"

His voice, no longer as agitated as before, softened and carried a hint of reassurance, as if he were questioning a younger family member, very calmly.

But the gaze emanating from those sunken eye sockets almost burned a hole through the doctor.

The doctor was frozen in place by the leader's gaze, yet there was no sense of urgency about his life hanging by a thread.

The down-on-his-luck middle-aged doctor also feigned surprise:

"Does the Lord of England actually possess supernatural abilities?"

He ran his hand along the handle of the leader's wheelchair, pondering how to phrase his words:

"He came to my place around noon today to visit the child that Lady Barbaresco had entrusted to her, the younger of the two children she brought back."

"After explaining that he might be a little late returning today, Lord England said that he would go looking for Lord Barbaresco, who had lost contact, and asked me to take good care of Silver... that child."

He paused, then added, seemingly with a mixture of shame and unease:

"Lady Barbaresco felt my medical skills were inadequate, so she took the older child to a hospital in Tokyo this morning."

It also seems to be an attempt to justify oneself:

"That child has pneumonia and is in poor health, so his recovery is indeed very slow. It's understandable that Lord Barbaresco doesn't trust me."

The old man looked at the doctor who was defending him and suddenly laughed:

"Of course I believe in your medical skills. It seems that Barbaresco has returned to the organization. They must have a specific drug for pneumonia over there."

Looking at the doctor who seemed relieved, he asked another question:

"Why would England and she entrust their sister to you?"

"Perhaps, the lady saw that there were other children here with me."

"Yes, you brought one with you too."

The old man finally looked away from the doctor and asked the other person who had been silent:

"Go and contact the people in the organization for me, and ask if Barbaresco and England have gone back."

"Chief, I shall take my leave now."

Mori Ougai saw that the leader had already arranged other matters and planned to leave first.

"No, Dr. Mori, let's come too, and see what the organization says."

The old man's voice remained calm with a slight smile, but the colonel moved a few steps toward the door, blocking it completely.

Mori Ōgai had no choice but to remain in the suffocating leader's room, watching as the colonel was ordered to contact the organization's contact person.

Rum assigned Curaçao, his most trusted subordinate, to handle the liaison.

The call was answered quickly, and a young woman's voice came through the speakerphone:

"Chief?"

The old man gestured for the colonel to ask the other party.

"Miss Curaçao, have Barbaresco and English Whiskey received your orders to return to Tokyo?"

"Please wait a moment."

There was complete silence on the other end of the phone, with only a faint static sound remaining; the person on the other end had muted their phone.

After a long while, the sound came from the other side again.

"Please allow me to apologize to the Port Mafia for their unauthorized departure."

Mori Ougai breathed a sigh of relief without showing any emotion; the fact that the organization knew meant they hadn't suddenly vanished.

The old man in front of him then made an extremely rude request:

"They can come and go in Yokohama whenever they want. Does that mean the organization treats Yokohama the same way they do?"

"Or perhaps there are problems with how the organization manages them? Why not hand them over to us? We'll teach them the rules on behalf of the organization."

Upon hearing this, the woman's breathing became heavier.

"Are you going to punish them according to the rules of the Port Mafia? Or do you want to take two high-ranking officers from the organization?"

The woman's voice grew colder and harder, and Curaçao had already seen through the old man's intentions.

The colonel resisted the urge to interrupt his leader and held the microphone with as little force as possible.

He knew that his leader had long coveted Barbaresco, and even though she hadn't shown any special abilities, her unpredictable skills had shone brightly in this short period of time.

Even a colonel with supernatural abilities couldn't guarantee he could escape unscathed from Barbaresco's clutches.

Not to mention the English whisky that was just reported to have the ability to "resurrect," the leader will definitely do everything he can to get his hands on this blond kid.

"Young lady, are you sure your organization can afford the consequences of angering the Port Mafia?"

The leader then changed his tone and began to threaten Curaçao.

"I will convey your request to Mr. Rum."

With a click, the call was unilaterally cut off by Curaçao.

"Say that again?!"

The one-eyed middle-aged man rubbed his ears, wondering if he had misheard.

What do you mean he taught the organization's codename members the rules? Who does he think he is?! He's just a local thug entrenched in Yokohama. What gives him the audacity to challenge the organization?

Curaçao repeated the old chief's words again, and Rum was at a loss for how to react. Was the dying old man delirious from illness?

Isn't it he who brought the items to the organization for help, and only then did the organization send members to assist in the investigation? Why are they acting so arrogantly, as if the organization is just a small, insignificant group in Yokohama?

Does he know where the organization's headquarters are? They wouldn't be foolish enough to openly display their headquarters like a rural gang would.

Forget it, let's contact those two troublemakers first.

"How's it going? Did you get in touch?"

Curaçao shook her head in confusion. "No, it's an equipment malfunction on Barbaresco's end. England is out of service...?"

Where did he go? His satellite phone isn't even in service.

Who was the last person to see him?

"Gin reported two hours ago that he had seen England and Barbaresco at the organization hospital."

They were accompanied by a long-haired stranger who appeared to be a member of the Port Mafia, and a sickly-looking teenager who was likely a person with supernatural abilities.

Why didn't he report this to me?

"Didn't you just suspend his privileges? Gin saw them at the same hospital where Vodka was staying."

Right after you revoked the permissions.

Moreover, Gin had already arrived to confront Rum, but Rum had to leave temporarily, so Gin left the message to the intelligence team.

Rum clicked his tongue heavily and had no choice but to send people to Tokyo to find the two who had deserted their posts, who were also among the few capable codenamed members.

Meanwhile, in the Tokyo underground, the blond boy had to say goodbye to the manager he had just met; he had to go to Yokohama to bring Gin back.

Accompanying him was a gentleman with his hair in a bun, looking somewhat disheveled. No, to be precise, he had let his hair down.

Algaria can finally say goodbye to those damn boxes. The supervisor's request is simple: bring back the blonde employee trainee and the little girl from Yokohama.

"Yes, bring him back alive," Azure Echo corrected in his mind, carrying his own scythe.

He was also well aware of why the supervisor had chosen him. Unlike cities with strict gun control, this world did not have those cumbersome regulations from the head of state.

The blond boy kept emphasizing that if they forced their way in, they would be sniped or shot at.

However, X had already considered this. One of the biggest features of Azure Echo is that he has a passive ability called ranged immunity.
