Chapter 160, Timeline Chapter 2 Unlocked

The same thought popped into both of their minds: Is this guy crazy?

She thought they were just strolling around watching the commotion. But even if you are just strolling around watching the commotion, you can't just stop the people involved and ask them what they're arguing about.

But Ruan Chen's expression was very serious, and she even suggested gently and politely, "If you keep fighting, you'll all die. Why can't you split it equally?"

"There's only one spot, how are we going to allocate it?" one of them said menacingly, wiping the blood smeared on his eyes.

Ruan Chen thought to herself, "So it's a quota."

The fact that these people are willing to risk their lives to secure a spot means it's a guaranteed admission spot.

With the intervention of a third party, the two fighters became much more restrained, keeping their distance and watching Ruan Chen warily.

She doesn't seem like a threat, but who knows?

Women who appear harmless are often the ones we need to be most wary of.

But Ruan Chen just nodded, somewhat dazed, "Oh, I understand, you guys continue."

After escaping from the Ruan family and experiencing other changes, her personality became somewhat like this; she was always a bit dull and dazed, but she was also beautiful.

Ruan Chen turned to leave, and the two men behind her exchanged glances, both understanding the meaning in each other's eyes, and revealed knowing smiles.

"Um, little sister, wait a minute."

Actually, Ruan Chen is not much younger than them, but she has a naturally youthful face. In addition, she suffered from malnutrition during puberty, which caused her bones to develop smaller than normal. Fortunately, time has been exceptionally kind to her.

Ruan Chen obediently turned around and asked, "Is there anything else? Do you... need any help?"

Just a few steps away were the medical staff, who had finished their first aid and bandaging work and transferred the person to a stretcher, ready to carry her out—these two people had lost their right to remain in Crescent Bay.

Although they seemed out of place in this environment, they heard everything that was happening in Ruan Chen's place.

Blood was flying everywhere in the room, but Ruan Chen was spotless, like an innocent little deer who had wandered into a fighting arena.

Upon hearing that the two men inside, who had just been locked in a life-or-death struggle, had suddenly united and were taking the initiative to speak to Ruan Chen, a medical worker couldn't help but sigh.

They will soon have another person to save.

The wisest thing Ruan Chen could do now was to run back to her room without looking back, lock the door tightly, and then keep a low profile for the next few days to make sure the two men forgot about her, their tempting prey.

But Ruan Chen seemed oblivious to the fact that that room was her death trap, turning around with an innocent and beautiful smile, "Is there something you need?"

She went inside and closed the door behind her.

Two more medical staff members outside spontaneously came out to wait for the beautiful little deer inside to send out a distress signal.

It's a real shame, such a beautiful girl.

A dozen seconds later, the door was suddenly pushed open from the inside.

The person who came out was Ruan Chen.

She stumbled out of the room, leaving a trail of bloody footprints with each step, seemingly heading in an unknown direction.

The medical staff instinctively peered into the room, but Ruan Chen seemed to remember something and ran back, slamming the door shut to block their view.

According to regulations, medical staff are not allowed to do anything other than provide assistance to trainees who have abstained.

Ruan Chen then wandered around a few empty rooms. It seemed that there were indeed no supplies on the first floor, and more than half of the people were aimlessly searching.

Ruan Chen was very hungry. She was fiddling with the pass she had just managed to snag, her hands in her pockets, feeling anxious.

When she returned to her and Yan Qian's room, Yan Qian was also fiddling with the safe, making herself all sweaty.

There's nothing there.

Yan Qian noticed the blood on Ruan Chen's feet and asked, "What happened to you?"

"I went to watch the excitement," Ruan Chen said.

Yan Qian rolled her eyes at her, "Watching the commotion here could lead to someone's death."

The two sat on the floor of the room for a while. Yan Qian clumsily combed her hair, first making a high ponytail, then shaking her head and being dissatisfied. She then tried to make a bun, but it quickly fell apart.

"Um... I'll help you." Ruan Chen couldn't stand it anymore.

She walked behind Yan Qian, who was sitting on the ground, knelt down, and asked her, "What kind of hairstyle do you want?"

"It's convenient for moving around, it's not a problem," Yan Qian said with a hint of frustration, clutching her hair. "I don't usually tie my hair up, and I forgot to do it when I went out today. I even told my roommates to remind me, but no one said a word to me."

Ruan Chen, biting the hair tie Yan Qian handed her, mumbled, "You're competitors, so it's normal that they didn't remind you."

Yan Qian looked somewhat depressed. "I thought we were friends—I even wanted to team up with them at first, but it seems they've already teamed up behind my back."

"You're not from the same place, are you?"

“No, we’re not from the same country—I just grew up in China, where education is so outdated,” Yan Qian said. “Look at my hair color, it’s natural.”

Ruan Chen then took a closer look at Yan Qian's face—sure enough, even her pupils were dark red, and her facial features were more defined than those of Chinese people, especially her eye sockets.

She tied up a section of Yan Qian's braided hair, saying, "You've been living under someone else's roof for so many years, it must have been very hard."

After the words slipped out unconsciously, Ruan Chen realized that she had been somewhat presumptuous.

She had been living under someone else's roof for so many years, and she was the one who was unhappy and in pain. But Yan Qian, who seemed to be well taken care of, could not possibly feel that living in someone else's home was a hard thing, just like her.

She was debating whether or not to apologize when she suddenly noticed tears welling up in Yan Qian's eyes.

Ruan Chen: Oh no, I think I said something wrong.

"What about your roommates? How are they doing now?" Ruan Chen changed the subject.

“All three of them graduated from top universities in China, you know the top four colleges, right?” Yan Qian’s attention was immediately diverted to Ruan Chen. “When we first came to Crescent Bay, we were assigned to the same dormitory. I even brought small gifts for everyone. All the spending during this time has been on my card. How could they do this?”

"Your parents must have spoiled you a lot," Ruan Chen said casually, tidying up the hair in her hand. "They sent you to schools with good educations from a young age and didn't skimp on your material needs."

“That’s right,” Yan Qian proudly raised her face, “I’m from our place… well, never mind, you wouldn’t really understand anyway, and you might even laugh at me.”

"Alright, it's finished."

Yan Qian pinched the hair that Ruan Chen had braided for her, "Your skills are really good, did you learn it specifically?"

“At home, I had to comb my older sister’s hair. If I didn’t do it well, she would whip me.” Ruan Chen’s tone revealed neither sadness nor anger. “I was whipped a lot to get used to it.”

Yan Qian covered her mouth in surprise. Just as she was about to ask, the two heard an electronic voice coming from outside the door, "Dear prospective students, the second floor is now open. We apologize for the wait."
